In this episode of John Solomon Reports, we cover a remarkable operation that recently took place in Venezuela, where President Trump commended our military's success in capturing fugitive president Nicolas Maduro with minimal bloodshed. John reflects on the significance of this event and the bravery of those involved, highlighting the strength and capability of the U.S. military. The show features an insightful conversation with House Administration Committee Chairman Brian Steil, who shares alarming findings from election integrity reports regarding the upcoming 2024 election. As concerns mount over potential irregularities, Chairman Steil discusses the critical Save America Act, which aims to ensure voter registration checks and ID requirements, marking a significant step in the fight for election integrity. In the second segment, former ICE Director Mark Morgan joins John to discuss the conclusion of the first phase of President Trump's immigration crackdown and offers a glimpse into what phase two might entail. With millions of illegal immigrants still in the country, Morgan outlines strategies for future enforcement. The episode also addresses the current state of the economy, featuring Shannon Davis from American Alternative Assets, who analyzes recent job creation numbers and GDP growth. While optimism is rising, Davis warns of potential pitfalls, particularly in the commercial real estate market, and discusses the implications of central bank digital currencies on privacy and spending autonomy.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this episode of The P.A.S. Report Podcast, Professor Nick Giordano breaks down the stunning takedown and arrest of Venezuela's Nicolás Maduro and why it may signal a major shift in U.S. power in the Western Hemisphere. Was this a smarter model than the failed regime-change disasters of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya, or the beginning of a dangerous new era of presidential authority? Professor Giordano examines what happens next as President Trump says the U.S. will run Venezuela until a safe, competent transition is possible, the strategic stakes tied to oil and hemispheric control, and the constitutional and international-law arguments now colliding in real time. He also exposes the domestic political hysteria as Venezuelans celebrate while America's activist left rushes to defend Maduro, revealing how Trump Derangement Syndrome continues to warp reality. Episode Highlights Maduro captured, Venezuela in play: why this operation was different, what comes next, and the risk of repeating past postwar transition failures Monroe Doctrine 2.0: how oil, energy leverage, and strategic denial of Russia, China, Iran, Cuba, and proxy networks reshape geopolitics in the Americas Legality and backlash: Article II authority, Congress's war-powers abdication, "international law" myths, and the left's bizarre defense of Maduro driven by anti-Trump obsession

As you might have noticed, especially if you listen to this podcast, Europe is not having the easiest time when it comes to geopolitics - it's trying to support in its Ukraine with Russia, rebuild its militaries after decades of hibernation, deal with increasingly unpredictable and sometimes openly hostile United States, all while trying to understand and adapt to the entirely new geopolitical reality we find ourselves in. And from the European perspective, understanding where are we going and how to best adapt to it is both really important and really difficult. And that's why I'm speaking with Olivier today. He recently wrote an academic paper that basically lays out the 4 different scenarios that Europe might experience in the coming years - based on how hostile the United States will get and how united Europe manages to stay. It's an extremely interesting and helpful approach that moves away from abstract anxieties and towards tangible realistic scenarios that help us understand what's ahead and how to prepare for it. In this conversation we talk about all of them as well as what each of them would mean and what would be the best course of action in each of the four different futures we might find ourselves in.
Hunger Strike in English PrisonsIn English prisons five people, imprisoned under new repressive laws targeted at pro-Palestinian activists, are on hunger strike. Several of them will have been on hunger strike now for over 50 days. At the weekend and each day since, protests have taken place across the island of Ireland and in Britain. Irish republicans have a natural affinity with those who use hunger strike in protest against inhumane prison conditions and to advance democratic aims. The use of hunger strike by political prisoners following the Rising and during the Tan and Civil Wars and in the North is well documented.Grace – just hold me in your arms …Next year the judicial review, taken by the Moore St. Preservation Trust, will be held in the Dublin High Court to challenge the Irish government's support for the plans of the developer - Hammerson – to demolish much of the historic 1916 Moore St. battlefield site.16 Moore St. is where the leaders of the 1916 Rising held their last meeting and where the decision to surrender was taken to prevent further civilian loss of life.Among those present was Joseph Plunkett who was centrally involved in the planning of the 1916 Rising. He was Director of Military Operations in the Irish Republican Brotherhood. He was also a member of that organisations Military Council. He was a signatory of the Proclamation and although heavily bandaged as a result of medical operations in early April, Plunkett spent Easter week in the GPO. A bleak Christmas for PalestiniansThe story of Christmas and the birth of Jesus in a stable, as Mary and Joseph sought shelter, is known by billions around the world – even by those of other faiths and none. Christmas will be celebrated – presents given – and many will go to their respective places of worship to remember the child born in poverty, surrounded by a loving family and animals. But for the people of Palestine, surviving in the occupied Palestinian Territories, this Christmas thousands of families will be separated from their loved ones, many of them children, held illegally in Israeli prisons. In the Gaza Strip families will mourn the 20,000 babies and children killed in Israel's genocidal war and the many more left with life changing injuries. Children will grieve for the parents who have been killed.

Segment 8 — Cutting the Funding: Policy Recommendations for Containing North Korea — Bruce Bechtol — Bechtol argues that effective containment policy requires avoiding kinetic military operations and instead targeting North Korea's financial apparatus to destabilize the regime. This strategy requires rigorous enforcement of existing international sanctions, deployment of advanced cyber warfare capabilities, seizure of smuggling vessels (though acknowledging potential escalation risks), and selective precision strikes targeting critical infrastructure supporting weapons proliferation. 1951 PANMUNJOM

PREVIEW John Hardie discusses how poor weather, including fog, rain, snow, and cold, fundamentally impacts military operations around Papovsk and the Donbass. Poor weather is often a boon to Russians, as they time assaults during rain and fog to impede Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance and drone operations. However, the subsequent loss of foliage in deep winter provides less concealment for Russian forces, making conditions tougher for them due to Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance capabilities. US Military Operations off Venezuela and the War in Ukraine. General Blaine Holt (United States Air Force retired) analyzes the significant US military buildup off Venezuela, headquartered at Roosevelt Roads, describing it as a "war-winning force" primarily targeting cartels and sending a global message of American might. He suggests that operations will likely use commando-style tactics rather than a full occupation, potentially leveraging historical events like the Bay of Pigs as cover for unconventional approaches. The conversation pivots to Ukraine, where Russia is effectively using new glide bombs and missiles, having shifted to a wartime mobilization economy. Holt notes the profound erosion of Ukraine's infrastructure and the demoralizing lack of manpower. He argues innovative, inexpensive defenses, such as Reaper drones with Sidewinders or lasers, are needed, as current air defense economics are unsustainable. 1926 HCMS VANCOUVER

fWotD Episode 3037: Harry Crerar Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Thursday, 28 August 2025, is Harry Crerar.General Henry Duncan Graham Crerar, (28 April 1888 – 1 April 1965) was a senior officer of the Canadian Army who became the country's senior field commander in the Second World War as commander of the First Canadian Army in the campaign in North West Europe in 1944–1945, having rapidly risen in rank from brigadier in 1939 to full general in 1944.A graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, in Kingston, Ontario, Crerar was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Non-Permanent Active Militia in 1909, serving with the 4th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery, which was based in Hamilton, Ontario. He rose to the rank of lieutenant-colonel in the artillery. He saw action in the First World War, for which he was mentioned in despatches and made a companion of the Distinguished Service Order. Electing to remain in the army as a professional soldier after the war, he attended the Staff College, Camberley, from 1923 to 1924, and the Imperial Defence College in 1934. He was appointed Director of Military Operations & Military Intelligence in 1935 and Commandant of the Royal Military College of Canada in 1939.During the Second World War he became General Officer Commanding the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division, which was then stationed in England, in late 1941. He was promoted to lieutenant-general and assumed command of I Canadian Corps, fighting briefly in the Italian campaign in late 1943 and in early 1944. In March 1944 he returned to the United Kingdom where he assumed command of the First Canadian Army which, despite its designation, contained a significant number of British, Polish and Czech troops, including the British I Corps and the Polish 1st Armoured Division.Under Crerar's command, the First Canadian Army fought in the latter stages of the Battle of Normandy in July−August 1944, participating in Operation Totalize, Operation Tractable and the Battle of the Falaise Pocket, before being tasked with clearing the Channel Coast. Crerar was promoted to full general on 16 November 1944, becoming the first Canadian officer to hold that rank in the field. During Operation Veritable, the battle for the Rhineland in 1945, the First Canadian Army controlled nine British divisions. The Army became more Canadian with Operation Goldflake, the redeployment of the I Canadian Corps from Italy, and played a key role in the liberation of the western Netherlands in April 1945, shortly before the end of World War II in Europe. With the war over, Crerar retired from military service in 1946. Canadian military historian J. L. Granatstein wrote of Crerar that: "No other single officer had such impact on the raising, fighting, and eventual disbanding of the greatest army Canada has ever known. Crerar was unquestionably the most important Canadian soldier of the war."This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:43 UTC on Thursday, 28 August 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Harry Crerar on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Raveena.

Josh Sigurdson reports on the calls by the Trump Administration to strike Mexico with military drones and missiles in order to hit the cartels which were largely armed and funded by the US government in the first place. This puts millions of innocent Mexicans in danger and would also cause mass migration. As Bolivian President Luis Arce claimed recently, the United States is masking their attempt to control Latin America with a drug war. Trump recently ordered the Pentagon to deploy three warships against Latin American drug cartels along the South American coast, including outside of Venezuela. There are many claiming he might target Maduro directly with military strikes. Meanwhile, as the DEA announces a joint program with Mexico to go after cartels, Claudia Sheinbaum, the Mexican President claims there is no such program. The Trump Administration is also drawing up plans to attack Mexico, calling for drone airstrikes against cartels which would cause chaos up north as well as within Mexico. This was planned long ago. The CIA armed and funded groups that Trump is targeting would only lead to further chaos along the border while endangering millions of innocent, family oriented and largely conservative Mexicans. We've seen the same tactics used in the Middle East for years. As we've warned of for years at WAM, the US government will frame Mexico for "working with" Russia, China and/or Iran in an attempt to bring war to the land border and perpetuate warfare. With military parades in Monterrey with Chinese and Russian troops as well as the US government claiming cartels are being run by Iran, the false but dangerous narrative is growing in scope. People should not believe it. It is the new Cuban Missile Crisis. All part of an attempt to bring order out of chaos and bring in a new technocratic order. Stay tuned for more from WAM! Is Syria the new front in Israel's multi-pronged war and could a known terrorist become an unlikely strategic ally? Senior contributing editor at JNS Ruthie Blum and former Israeli Ambassador to the U.K. Mark Regev, both former advisers in the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, break down Israel's rapidly evolving security landscape, where threats from the north and south exacerbate political instability at home. Is this about Israel's moral obligation, strategic deterrence or a long-term bet on future alliances? In Gaza, civilian evacuations and intensified military operations continue as delicate hostage negotiations unfold in Qatar. Could a new deal be close? Or is Hamas once again stalling for time? The hosts scrutinize the risks and paradoxes facing Israeli decision-makers: How do you balance rescuing 50 remaining hostages with minimizing IDF casualties and eradicating Hamas once and for all? Back in Jerusalem, Netanyahu faces not only war on multiple fronts, but also legal troubles and a brewing coalition collapse over ultra-Orthodox military service. Armed conflict is challenging enough, but when the very battlefield is a more significant threat than the enemy, the stakes are significantly raised. On this episode, US Air Force LtCol Jahara "Franky" Matisek and retired US Coast Guard LCDR Jeremy McKenzie explain how military operations in the Arctic present unique challenges. Temperatures well below freezing not only make basic survival a struggle, but LCDs on avionics and electronics quit working, as do most lubricants, and a dropped wrench can shatter upon impact. As the strategic importance of the Arctic increases, military operations there—and before long, perhaps Antarctica—require substantial consideration and investment that cannot be put off until the day before shooting begins. For financial planning questions or assistance, contact Zach Mindel at zmindel@forumfinancial.com, (630) 474-3599, or visit https://www.forumfinancial.com/profile/zachary-mindel/Zach Mindel, CFP®, is a Financial Advisor with Forum Financial Management, a registered investment adviser with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
