This time we return to Derby Gaol, a site of murder, suicide, executions, disease, suffering and despair. Join me and let's ask together once again, just how haunted is Derby Gaol? Huge thank you to Richard Felix for joining me and you can find his website over at www.richardfelix.co.uk. This time out you join me in the city of Derby which is apparently the best place in the world to drink real ale, it's the home of Rolls Royce, as well, of course, this episode's location. Dating back to 1756 this place witnessed the very worst of humanity, and as a result it believed to be home to all manner of things that go bump in the night. Lets' ask together, as I'm joined by the Richard Felix, who owns this historic landmark, and we ask just how haunted is Derby Gaol? Huge thank you to Richard Felix for joining me and you can find his website over at www.richardfelix.co.uk. Support How Haunted? by subscribing and leaving a review. Most Haunted's Richard Felix joins Ron and Steve to discuss the paranormal, Most Haunted, Derby Goal, and More...
Recorded for release 31st October 2022 This Week we talk Health, Halloween, Dogs and Documentaries with Dr Ranj, Sarah-jane Crawford, Aston Merrygold (JLS), Richard Felix, Laurie Goodlad, Jodie Kidd amongst others.
Derby has a reputation for being a hotbed of ghostly goings on. Stories of ghostly activities span generations. In fact it's difficult to turn a corner in the city without hearing a nerve jangling tale of things that go bump in the night. And you dont have to go too far to find one such tale. The old gaol in Friar Gate has a particularly gruesome past. Today, all that survives of the original gaol are its cells, which now form part of a working museum which tells the story of its grisly history. Opened in 1756 it replaced one in the Cornmarket and materials from that building were actually used in the construction of the Friar Gate Gaol, which was deliberately sited close to Nun's Green, a place where executions had traditionally taken place. Many a brutal execution took place in the prison, and many others died by other means such as illness and suicide. Joining me today to discuss the history and hauntings of Derby Gaol is TV paranormal historian Richard Felix- the owner of Derby Gaol. Thank you for listening. This week, I am delighted to be joined one of Britain's most well known paranormal investigators, Richard Felix. With over 100 appearances on the seminal Most Haunted up to 2009, numerous tv interviews and a whole raft of his own ghost hunting guides around the United Kingdom, the only thing that matches Richard's passion for the paranormal is his love of history. Richard was responsible for the funding and creating of a statue in Derby to commerate Bonnie Prince Charlie's ill fated invasion of England in the 18th century. Richard also saved and restored the historic Derby Gaol, one of the cities most haunted locations and has hosted ghost walks for over two decades. We discuss his love of the paranormal and history, discussing one of my favourite paranormal subjects, the peculiar Screaming Skulls dotted around the country. We also touch on haunted battlefields, Witch Marks, his new book collecting ghost stories from around the UK as well as his favourite ghost that he feels to be more well known, that of P.C. Joseph Moss.Dickie the screaming skull Katherine Griffith of Burton Agnes Hall Theophilus Broome of Higher Farm Chiltern Dave Allen tells a ghost story Cresswell Crags The murder of P.C. Ask Sue welcomes Richard Felix Richard Felix has been haunted by ghosts since the age of four, but he does not see dead people. He is frightened of ghosts! He still is .So what makes a man who is so frightened of ghosts look for them. Richards’ passion for life has always been history, especially military history with a special interest in disasters e.g. The Charge of the Light Brigade, The Alamo, Custers Last Stand, and the Titanic. Richard is a great believer that ghosts and history go together and firmly believes that ghosts exist—he has seen one, heard one, travelled with one, but still remains firmly on the fence and remains sceptical about most ghostly occurrences. At least eight out of ten can be explained, it is the remaining two you need to worry about. In 1992 Richard opened The Derby Heritage Centre. (a Tudor Grammar School) with ghosts and thus started the origins of the now world famous Derby Ghost Walk Richard specialises in ghost tours around the U.K. and Ireland and has personally taken in excess of a quarter of a million people on a ghost tour. Twelve years ago he opened the haunted Derby Gaol ; scene of the last Hanging, Drawing and Quartering in England. Ten years ago he embarked on the Ghost Tour of Great Britain. Visiting every county and recorded onto D.V.D’s their haunted tales. For even more info please go to asksueshow.blogspot.co.uk where links etc will be available. Call in to the show - 347 327 9694
