Wisconsin was home to many towns throughout its history that, for various reasons, simply don't exist anymore. Whether bypassed by the railroad, faded away after a loss of industry, or disbanded by its own residents, the towns have been wiped from the modern-day landscape, some with visible ruins as reminders, and others have literally nothing existing other than stories. Those stories are largely unknown to most people today, but they are no less fascinating because of it. The unique history of Wisconsin is only further enriched when these stories are brought to light, including connections to America's Founding Fathers, European royalty, and even an eventual Presidential assassin. This archive show goes back to a New Year's Eve about a dozen years. when we spent the evening with former Most Haunted presenter,  Astrologer/Psychic David Wells. Because he was in the UK, 8 hours ahead of us in the USA, He was talking to us a year ahead of us.  We talked about his book Psychic Secrets,  examining real life experiences to uncover the extraordinary truth behind psychic events. What really causes possessions and past lives, and why is visualisation and meditation important? Is it to allay our own fears, or to communicate with the ghosts of those long passed - or is it something more?   

The second annual Nightmare Before Christmas special is upon us, and in this special episode I will read real ghost stories from listeners. ‘Ghostwatch', a Halloween drama in the style of a documentary, reached 11 million viewers on its first and only UK broadcast on BBC 1, on 31st October, 1992. It starred Sarah Greene, Craig Charles, Mike Smith, and - in a stroke of genius - trusted veteran broadcaster Michael Parkinson, who became possessed by the voice of ‘Pipes' as the programme reached its terrifying climax.  The show caused outrage for its disturbing content and the way it blurred the line between fact and fiction. Most of the 30,000 complainants didn't believe the events portrayed were real; they were simply distressed that the BBC would make a horror drama that borrowed the visual language of current affairs television.
