In this conversation featuring Travis and producer Eric, the discussion centers on personal branding, audience building, content creation, and the power of documenting your journey. Drawing from their own experiences growing podcasts, social media accounts, and upcoming projects, they explore why creators, entrepreneurs, and business owners should start building attention long before they have something to sell. From launching new accounts from scratch to documenting the process behind a book or business, this episode is packed with practical insights for anyone looking to grow an audience in today's digital landscape. On this episode we talk about: Why building a personal brand can create opportunities beyond your primary business or project The benefits of starting new social media accounts from scratch to test ideas and audiences How documenting the creation process can build trust and anticipation with your audience Why losing followers can actually improve engagement and long-term growth The importance of experimenting with content formats, hooks, and messaging Top 3 Takeaways Build the audience before the product is ready. The most successful launches often happen because attention and trust were established long before the product became available. Documenting creates authenticity. Showing the process behind a project helps people feel invested in the journey and proves the work behind the finished product. Experimentation is the fastest path to growth. Testing new accounts, different hooks, and multiple versions of the same message can reveal what truly resonates with an audience. Notable Quotes "Build the audience around the thing that you know is coming." "Documenting is almost the proof—the certificate of authenticity." "If you're not sure where to post it, start a new account from scratch and see what happens." On this week's episode of the podcast, I am joined by Danny Frankel, the founder of Punchup Live, a digital platform and ticketing ecosystem built for stand-up comedians. We explore how the economics of content distribution and audience building are being fundamentally rewritten. Danny provides a unique perspective on the shifting landscape of social media, the rise of clipping farms, and the digitization of live entertainment markets. Among other things, we discuss:How clipping farms and Discord communities are distorting organic distribution algorithms for independent creators across social media platformsWhether the extreme efficiency of AI-driven content recommendation engines is leading to user burnout and eventual platform rejectionWhy the traditional touring model is inverted for comedians compared to musicians and how that affects audience building strategiesWhat the phenomenon of blue dot fever reveals about shifting consumer behavior and transparency in the secondary ticketing marketIf the current fragmentation of the live entertainment ecosystem prevents artists from accurately predicting and capturing true market demandHow the lack of audience portability across major social platforms forces creators to adopt direct-to-fan communication tools like emailWhen the innovator's dilemma will force legacy platforms to choose between advertiser needs and the long-term health of creatorsThanks to the sponsors of this week's episode of the Mobile Dev Memo podcast:INCRMNTAL. With books published in multiple languages and millions of podcast downloads, Jo brings a candid, funny, and deeply practical perspective on making a living through creativity. In this episode of Business at the Speed of Light, Dr. Stefano Sinicropi sits down with entrepreneur, podcaster, and business strategist Scott D. Clary for a wide-ranging conversation about visibility, entrepreneurship, execution, and the mindset required to build something meaningful in a rapidly changing world. Their discussion explores why so many talented people stay stuck, how successful builders learn by taking action before they feel ready, and why clarity often comes through momentum rather than overthinking. Scott shares how he built his podcast and personal brand over time, why attention and distribution matter in modern business, and how content, consistency, and learning in public can create long-term opportunities. Together, he and Dr. Sinicropi also examine the gap between professional expertise and business literacy, especially in healthcare, where many providers are highly skilled clinically but unprepared for the realities of ownership, scale, marketing, and financial strategy. The episode also looks at artificial intelligence, personal leverage, and the importance of developing an entrepreneurial mindset, even for people who do not see themselves as entrepreneurs. It closes with an important reflection on health, relationships, and self-care, arguing that success without wellbeing is ultimately incomplete. This episode is for listeners interested in business growth, personal responsibility, modern entrepreneurship, leadership, healthcare innovation, and building a life that is successful not only on paper, but in practice.

Brad and Dave frame this as the best possible problem for a storyteller to have — not a crisis, but proof that the story is working. Their advice is to resist the urge to dump exposition too early, and instead use reader curiosity as fuel to keep them engaged and coming back for more. Another listener question asks how to make necessary exposition more entertaining in a history comic, and the hosts widen that into a general storytelling discussion. They explore how to handle “problem panels” — moments where important information must be conveyed, but the raw facts feel static or dull. Their answer is that exposition does not need to be delivered plainly: creators can change the point of view, alter the tone, insert found documents, frame facts through action, or even break into totally different storytelling modes if it makes the comic more engaging. The episode also includes a couple of business updates for cartoonists. Brad shares good news about USPS fuel surcharges not applying to Media Mail, which matters for creators shipping books, while Dave warns that new tariffs may affect imported book shipments and advises cartoonists to build more buffer into Kickstarter budgets for 2026. It's a practical reminder that making comics also means staying alert to the changing realities of fulfillment and production costs. You have real engagement. You have an audience that trusts you. You show up consistently and people genuinely respond to what you create. And yet the income doesn't reliably reflect any of it. Some months convert well. Others don't. You can't isolate the variable which means you can't replicate the good months or protect yourself from the slow ones. If that experience is familiar, this episode is for you. Because it has a very specific cause and it is not what most people in this industry will tell you it is.In this episode, I'm walking you through the five stages of buyer awareness, the psychological framework that explains exactly why content that attracts people doesn't automatically convert them. I'll cover what each stage looks like, what content it requires, and why most online service providers are unintentionally skipping the stages where buying decisions are actually made. By the end, you will understand more about why your content does and doesn't convert than most programs in this space will ever teach you.Why engagement and desire are not the same thing and why confusing them is the real reason your audience isn't convertingThe five stages of buyer awareness, clearly explained and applied directly to your contentWhat stage three content is, why it's where desire forms, and why almost no one creates itWhy stages four and five are the most underproduced content in most accounts and what you're losing because of itThe difference between building an audience and building a buying audience and why visibility strategies won't close that gapWhat shifts in your content when you start creating with stage-awareness instead of just consistencyYour ReflectionWhen you look at your last ten pieces of content honestly how many were serving stages one and two? How many were stage three, four, or five? What would it look like to create one piece of stage three content this week? Not a product pitch, a specific painting of the transformation your work creates. Is there a stage five buyer in your audience right now? Orchid Bertelsen spent the last 20 years building a career that took her from a law firm in DC to the Gucci sales floor, through digital marketing at Nestle, and eventually into private equity, where she now helps beauty brands grow profitably. A first-generation Taiwanese American who grew up without a safety net, Orchid learned early that the path forward meant working harder than everyone else and getting close to the money. After 30 years away from horses, she recently returned to the saddle at a historic equestrian club 10 minutes from her home in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and what started as a Christmas gift of six lessons has since taken over her entire personality.FIVE KEY INSIGHTS: Finding your way back: Orchid rode from 10 to 14, competed on the B circuit in Illinois and Wisconsin, then stepped away for nearly 30 years. Her return started with a walk past the Grosse Pointe Equestrian Center with her kid in a stroller and one question: "what if?"Horses as a forcing function for presence: Managing an oversensitive 17.3-hand horse named Bo has a way of demanding you show up fully. For someone always attached to her phone, barn time is the one place she's not.Building content with a system: Through Orchid in the Saddle, she applies her marketing background to create content for returning riders. Batch film on barn days, script with ChatGPT, edit ruthlessly in CapCut to 30 seconds or less, and let the data tell you what to make next. The gap the equestrian industry is missing: There's a disconnect between who brands design for and who's actually buying. From boot calf widths to men's sizing to grooming bags, the middle market for quality products made for real people at real price points is wide open.Immigrant grit and the cost of an obsession: All three voices in this conversation are first-generation Americans, and the thread connecting growing up without a safety net, building careers close to revenue, and developing a full-blown horse obsession is very real and very relatable.Orchid Bertelsen is proof that the horse world can pull you back in no matter how long you've been gone, and that returning to the barn at 43 with a half-lease, a TikTok account, and a marketing brain is its own kind of superpower. This conversation covers everything from building a content strategy on a barn budget to the very real gap in equestrian products for adult amateurs, and why the brands that figure that out first are going to win big. If you've ever thought about coming back to horses, or wondered whether your outside career could actually make you better in the saddle, this episode is for you.Follow Orchid: @orchidinthesaddle on TikTok and InstagramSubscribe and follow Horse People for more cross-discipline content and stories.

Niching down is often the move founders resist most, especially when they are already building an audience and seeing traction. In this Dear FoundHer conversation, Lindsay Pinchuk talks with Dr. Amy Robbins, host of the Life, Death & the Space Between podcast, about how niching down became the turning point in her business. What started as a passion project evolved into a focused, revenue-generating offer once she stopped trying to serve everyone and began speaking directly to one specific group.Dr. Amy Robbins spent years building an audience through her show and growing her visibility in the spiritual space. The credibility was there, but the next step was unclear. Through a series of intentional career pivots, she recognized that therapists were asking for structured training in spiritually informed therapy. Niching down allowed her to create a continuing education program that strengthened her professional credibility and made her offer practical and professionally valuable. This conversation also explores the internal shifts behind the strategy. After experiencing exhaustion in private practice, she stepped back to create space for clearer decision-making and a path toward growth without burnout. If you are a founder with momentum but no defined direction, this episode offers a great example of how niching down can sharpen your message, simplify your marketing, and create sustainable growth built on focus rather than volume.Episode Breakdown:00:00 Dear FoundHer From the Forum and Dr. Amy Robbins' Founder Story01:24 From Private Practice to Spirituality and Building a Podcast Platform02:38 Turning a Podcast Into a Business Without Taking More Therapy Clients06:53 Taking a Sabbatical to Create Clarity and Build the Right Offer09:47 Pivoting From B2C to B2B With Spiritually Informed Therapy Training11:19 Using Continuing Education Credits to Drive Course Demand14:02 Building a Therapist Community and a B2B2C Referral Model22:10 Leveraging Podcast Guests for Partnerships and Business Growth27:21 Mindset, Comparison, and Staying Focused on Your Own Growth PathConnect with Dr. Amy Robbins:Follow Dr. Amy on InstagramListen to Life, Death & The Space Between with Dr. Amy RobbinsSubscribe to The FoundHer Files Follow Dear FoundHer on Instagram Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm Hosted on Acast. Text me your content win!Hey creators—let's get real for a second. Just because you've built a big audience doesn't mean you've built a business. I know, that's a little spicy to say out loud, but it's the truth. And in this episode, I'm breaking down exactly why focusing only on audience growth will leave you burned out, broke, and wondering why those brand deals never seem to come your way.As a travel creator and content strategist, I see this all the time: talented content creators chasing follower counts instead of setting up systems that actually generate revenue. Having 100K followers doesn't matter if you don't know what you're selling, who you're selling it to, or how your business makes money when you're not glued to Instagram or TikTok.Inside this episode, we'll cover:The big lie about “just grow your audience and the money will follow.”The real difference between an audience and a content business. Why “going viral” doesn't guarantee income (and what does). The business systems you must have in place if you want to stop chasing followers and start creating freedom.f you're tired of feeding the content machine without seeing results, this is your reminder to shift your focus from vanity metrics to sustainable business growth.✨ Want to stop acting like “just” a content creator and start building a real business? When you're just getting started on your subscription box journey, it can be hard to imagine yourself successfully managing a thriving subscription. That's when you need to seek inspiration from someone just a few steps ahead of you. Kathy Strahs from The Awayday Box is just that person.   Kathy was inspired to provide moms like her - burnt out and depleted from all the past few years have thrown at them - with a truly special, self-care experience. She had no subscription box experience and no audience. What she did have was passion, determination, and - thanks to Launch Your Box - a roadmap to follow to get her where she wanted to be.  Kathy dug into the training inside Launch Your Box and implemented what she learned. And when she ran into something that threatened to stop her progress - hello, tech - she got the help she needed and kept moving forward.  After 90 days of building her audience and getting all the things ready behind the scenes, Kathy was ready to launch. She sold out on day one of her launch with 46 subscribers - an amazing result considering she truly started from scratch!  Kathy didn't have subscription box experience, but like all of us, she had a lot of other work and life experience. And as she started working toward launching her subscription box, she found out just how valuable all of that experience was. Kathy had:  Retail experience - high school job at a Hallmark store.  Business knowledge and experience - MBA from Stanford.  Marketing - work in affiliate and partnership marketing.  Social media and content creation - experience as a blogger and early adopter of social media platforms.  Publishing - author of four cookbooks.  Kathy drew from all of her work and life experiences to bring her subscription box to her subscribers. From a part-time high school job to business school to publishing cookbooks - it all applied. And Kathy is her own ideal customer - so everything about her life applied!  What experiences do you have that you can bring to your subscription box business? Past jobs, educational experiences, life experiences… look for what you've learned that you can bring to your subscription box business. And get ready to be surprised by how much you already know!  Join me for this episode as Kathy takes us through her journey from absolute subscription box newbie to selling out on day one of her launch!  Find and follow Kathy:  Awayday on Instagram Awayday on Facebook  Awayday Website Join me in all the places:  Facebook Instagram Launch Your Box with Sarah Website  Are you ready for Launch Your Box?
