"THE RINGMASTER" October 2, 1976 Monster Squad was a one season NBC Saturday morning live action show for kids in 1976. In it, Walt, who worked in his uncle's wax museum, discovered that he could bring the figures of Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, and the Wolfman to life. Wanting to atone for the sins of their past, the trio, with Walt's crime computer set out on a mission to stop evil wherever they found it. We dive into the fourth episode with the villain - The Ringmaster. This one is proving to be a dark episode as the Ringmaster holds 20,000 orphans hostage. John and Joe Crowe of RevolutionSF and the Dragoncon American SciFi Classics Track discuss the unfortunate imagery of Bonnie Bon, the use of "Chekov's Gun" in this story, and a missed plot point that could have been developed into something more. Take a listen and let us know what you think here or by writing us at thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.

Putty Puss, Mussel Mutt, Ding Dog, Rhubarb, Sparkplug and Stutts. This Saturday morning toon's basically forgotten, and that's kinda rough! When WB vets Friz Freeling and Bob McKimson team up with Scooby Doo creators Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, they came up with this series best explained as Top Cat meets Mission Impossible in the late Wild West period. While the gadgets are sometimes contrived, the show is still pretty fun!

"Reading, Writing & Wronging" April 2, 1977 Penguin has started a school for criminals and in order to pass, you have to defeat Batman and Robin! John and Joe Stuber of Comic Book Central are back in the Batcave talking about this episode that is an odd duck. It has potential and it has some fun moments, but in the end it just doesn't hold up. The two discuss how this episode may be where some of the hate for Batmite comes from, John's dislike of the Penguin as a character in general, and the heavy use of "Holy" exclamations in this episode. Let us know what you're thinking as you listen to the episode by commenting here or by writing us at thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.

Welcome to Saturday Morning Coffee for Saturday, July 17, 2021!After a brief hiatus (Saturday Morning Coffee for July 3rd was a "Best of SMC" Episode, and we had some technical difficulties in the Studio for July 10 that prevented us from bringing that episode of the podcast to you), Saturday Morning Coffee is back! For Saturday, July 17, your host Reese Boyd begins the show by welcoming Producer Glenn Dye back from a much needed and well deserved vacation. Welcome back, Glenn, and Happy Birthday!Speaking of birthdays, Reese discusses an upcoming birthday for Liz Callaway (Liz Callaway Morning Show, Weekdays 6-10am on talk945.com), and an upcoming birthday event for Liz that will benefit "Fostering Hope" in Conway, SC, and the work that they do providing clothing and school supplies for foster children in the area.Reese discusses the alarming situation in California following the most aggressive COVID lockdowns in the Country that have been enforced there under Governor Gavin Newsome. He discusses the welcome news this week that Conservative Radio Personality Larry Elder is running for Governor and talks about how our listeners can help the Elder for Governor Campaign. Listener Larry Biddle calls the show to discuss his experience growing up in Sacramento, California, and what a great conservative governor he would make for the State of California.Reese also discusses an article that appeared in The Nerve (www.thenerve.org) concerning some very large pay raises that just went into effect for many state agency heads and other state employees, questioning where some of our state government employees really needed to receive raises of 25%, 33%, or even 48% in some cases, in these trying and uncertain times that have caused so many in the private sector to lose their businesses or lose their jobs. Reese asks for listeners to chime in and share their stories of when they last received a 48% pay raise!Rep. Mike Burns, (R-Travelers Rest), member of the South Carolina General Assembly, joins us on the program to discuss the "Stop Tech Censorship in South Carolina" Bill (H. 3450), very important legislation that he has been championing in the S.C. General Assembly. We discuss who you can do to help this very important bill become law, and Rep. Burns also discusses his involvement in recent anti-tax litigation in Greenville County, in which two "user fee" taxes imposed by Greenville County Council have been ruled by the Court as impermissible, in an important case that is likely to have state-wide implications.Fred Lucas, chief national affairs correspondent with the Daily Signal and co-host of the "Right Side of History" podcast, joins us to discuss current events surrounding the protests in Cuba, how the United States can best respond, and what to look for in the days and weeks ahead. In the Parting Wisdom segment, Reese discusses some wisdom he recalls his grandmother sharing... "You'll catch more flies with honey than you will with vinegar!" There are quite a few people in politics today - and in the Horry County Republican Party in particular - who would do well to remember that little bit of wisdom! But for now, the circus antics continue within the Horry County GOP. This time, the antics are in the form of a vote this week to censure State Party Chair, Drew McKissick, for something that he said about the Greenville County GOP. (Bear in mind, McKissick hasn't actually DONE anything yet, and none of us know how all the things happening elsewhere in the State are going to play out, but for good measure, let's just go ahead and censure McKissick and get that out of the way.) Right! Big future there, folks. Thanks for listening to Saturday Morning Coffee! We hope you all have a blessed week and we'll see you again next Saturday Morning!Proverbs 3:5-6

Don Bluth's laserdisc games helped keep arcades interesting for just long enough while the console side of video games was going bust, and Ruby Spears capitalized on it with the Saturday Supercade series on CBS. Space Ace was one of seven total games adapted into this anthology series, and it's... not great. It's a mild sight better than some of the other shows on it, sadly.Special thanks to Krissi Harding from James' other podcast, Gaming Street Irregulars, for helping with the intro!
