On this episode, Justin deVries joins Clive as co-host as we talk to Scott Stokely about his health, his disc golf clinics, his teaching philosophy, and any how England is a stabby country. I have been so looking forward to sharing this conversation with you, as my guest on the show today is a professional Frisbee player. It just makes me chuckle. In this show we discuss the gap between thought and implementation, fear and failure and the evidence that life always works out. People like to live by specific rules. One of them is that we have a place to live, somewhere to call home, sleep, and store our things. But who said that was a rule? Could you live a nomadic life on the road, travelling from city to city and living in hotels? That is the life that my guest, Scott Stokely, has chosen. As you heard in the intro, he made that decision when he was 19. Now in his 50s, he jokes with me that he is probably the most well-off homeless person I will ever meet. Scott Stokely is a professional disc golf player. When he started in the sport 30 years ago, it was in its infancy. He left home and set out to become a professional player with no plan B. The conversation is so unique because he has always jumped into things. Scott is an entrepreneur—and a good one. He has always had innate confidence in himself and the knowledge that it would be fine, and that is how the world works. For Scott, failure is just information and means adaptation is needed. “I will be fine wherever I am. If I fail at something, I will just do something else and that will be fine.” He explains how he turned his hobby into a profession and invented the funding model that most professional disc golfers use today. He also wrote the first book on disc golf techniques. This is a discussion about freedom opportunity, and Scott shares his business and life model that anyone could replicate. The guys put together an episode that has been a long time in the making. Disc golf legend Scott Stokely hops on the mic and makes himself at home at Callahan Acres. Stokely shares candid stories, opinions and life lessons that are larger-than-life but also humblingly human and relatable - his entrepreneurial successes and failures, his beginnings with disc golf, and his commitment to bettering himself and others through the sport. He takes them behind the making of his autobiography 'Growing Up Disc Golf' and the evolution of Blue Power Disc Golf which promotes disc golf for individuals with special needs and their families.Alex can't decide whether he's completely off smoking, while Sean gets misty-eyed about the Delly's. Ryan is learning how to 'catch'em all', and Jason compares his nose to horror-movie villans' backsides.

Scott Stokely joins Michael Rasile on For the Love of Sports to discuss his career in disc golf and how it has led him to places he never thought before! Scott was one of the original disc golfers, making it up to #2 in the world when the sport only had 500,000 to 1 million people playing it. Not only was he one of the best in the game, but he was also one of the few who could make a full-time living from playing and promoting the sport he loved. He realized out of the gate that there were many things he could do from a branding standpoint to allow him to make money from sponsorships and merchandising that could give him a prosperous life. Fast forward to today and while Scott's skills aren't in the top 10, he is still one of the highest earners in the sport. Through his social media, he has been able to create multiple businesses that revolve around the sport to allow him to travel the world while making money! Scott has camps that he conducts all around the globe, he has online courses where he teaches new players, he has a book, his own set of discs, and even his own barbeque sauce! ;) https://scottstokely.net/ https://scottstokely.com/ Scott Stokely Growing Up Disc Golf

Richey and Matt aren't in the Lounge this week. Not to worry, Sam found a worthwhile fill-in, along with a fantastic guest... the Lounge was cookin'!Sam brought Eugene Calhoun as a guest host. A fellow dad, Eugene brings a similar fatherly perspective, but at a younger age! He was an absolute killer guest host! Our guest is professional disc golf champion and world record holder, Scott Stokely for a return to the Lounge!Scott has been extremely busy with the PGDA, but Sam went the route of healthy eating, being older but still competing at a high level, what are his thoughts on meatless meat? Scott and Sam chat for a few minutes about that, and then Eugene offers a thought-provoking question, and Scott nails it with an answer not many might expect.Sam presents a scenario from a flag-football game, earlier in the day, to ask both Scott and Eugene for their thoughts. The three talk through the situation and how each scenario still might leave holes. The conversation is wonderful! Scott is so open about everything, and that's what we love about him!Eugene was great too! We will have to keep him in our Rolodex for future consideration. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the return of Scott Stokely in the Lounge!Member of #OddPodsMediaPromos: Infectious Groove Podcast & From the Middle Podcast

He talks about the early years in disc golf, the 17 championships and the records he holds, how he travels the country giving seminars, workshops and clinics. And he also explains how and why he has introduced disc golf to the special needs community. Also this week, probably the most hilarious Golf Is A Funny Game Segment ever. Neal and John go head to head with comedian Bert Hart in a bad joke contest. We won't spoil the ending but can the guys hold their own toe to toe against a real comedian? The segment will keep you laughing, that's for sure.

Scott Stokely joins us over the phone and gives us a wonderful backstory on his disc golf career and how his book is going. Scott Stokely is currently traveling around the country and teaching clinics. He has a ton of experience teaching players the game of disc golf. Scott Stokely was playing disc golf in 1976 before there were even baskets. He has done almost everything you can think of and now tours the country running clinics and helping people become better disc golfers. He ran 280 Blue Power Disc Golf Events for kids and adults with special needs in 280 cities. He is someone I look up to and strive to live life like. And that is no regrets and not give a FUCK what ANYONE thinks. He lives life on his own terms and that is something only a SMALL percentage of people can genuinely say. Life is about doing what you want to do and not having a worry in the world and that is exactly him. I strive do be like that. In this episode we have a great talk on his book, his tour life, future, ball golf and much more!! You don't want to miss this one! I personally feel this is my best talk yet! Scott Stokely would like to know... he wants to reconcile in his mind... How the concept of Love can be attributed to the God of Christianity, based on the accounts read in the Biblical documents..
In Part One of the Morality Meter Episode, Scott asked David to explain some difficult questions concerning morality, the abuse of religion in morality and moral rules, and how to reconcile faith to a moral line of thinking. This episode, David has asked his present and former students to gather questions for Scott, such as what is the moral "barometer" does an atheist use for morality? This episode will help us all understand differing points of view and how we see morality from differing world views
People understand the idea of "morality" and "moral living" in very different ways. Some people would argue that there most be a set of absolutes that guide the conversation, some would argue that inside of every person is the ability to understand what is moral and how it applies to everyday life and actions, and for Scott and I, we are just going to argue. Join us as we discuss what is morality from both a religious and non-religious set of perspectives...
Why do we draw radically different conclusions looking at the same exact world? This question was posed by Scott Stokely as our Kick-off episode. The question is intense, and we see people of all differing backgrounds and education levels willing to argue (as Scott and I will do) to the death defending their points and perspectives-but in the end-what significant changes are really made? How can we grow from each others thoughts and ideas without causing harm? Tune in and find out..
