Hello, neighbor, I mean, Slackers! This week we are going to explore the educational live-action children's shows of the 1970s and 1980s that defined the Generation X experience. These programs were foundational, delivering lessons with creativity and care in an era before digital media. From the community spirit of Sesame Street to the gentle guidance of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, it's all about the shows that made education engaging and actually fun. My personal GOATs? Fred Rogers and Captain Kangaroo! The Electric Company used characters like Morgan Freeman's (!) Easy Reader to teach reading to older children, while Romper Room's Miss Nancy instilled manners through her Magic Mirror. Reading Rainbow, hosted by LeVar Burton, encouraged a love for literature, and Mr. Wizard's World made science accessible with Don Herbert's experiments. Each program contributed to a foundation of curiosity and empathy. There are also a ton of lesser-known shows like Zoom, which empowered children to create their own content, and The Big Blue Marble, which introduced global perspectives. Villa Alegre promoted bilingual learning, and 3-2-1 Contact brought STEM to life. These shows were more than entertainment; they were trusted sources of knowledge and connection for a generation.Available on Apple Podcasts, Spreaker, and major streaming platforms. I hate rain, Slackers,This week, we're digging into ten rainy day songs that capture the gray and the heavy. Spanning the late '70s to the late '90s, the list pulls from dark corners and quiet moments—think industrial beats, NY alt metal, acoustic ballads, and lyrics that can get pretty dreary. It's the kind of music that fits a slow drizzle or a full downpour, perfect for staring out a window, preferably with a hot cup of coffee. Mildly depressing? Maybe. Carthartic? Also, maybe. But probably.Got a rainy day song I missed? Hit us up on X, Instagram, and YouTube @stuckpodx or head on over to the The Stuck in the Middle Podcast page on Facebook. This week on the Messy in The Middle Podcast, Ed and Jefi discuss the reasons and considerations for refinancing loans. They highlight the benefits of lower interest rates, shorter loan terms, and the elimination of private mortgage insurance. However, they caution listeners to consider the potential downsides, such as negative equity, poor credit, and high prepayment penalties. They also discuss the use of refinancing for home renovations and debt consolidation, but advise consulting a financial advisor. This week on the Messy in The Middle Podcast, Ed and Jefi discuss conventional loans, mortgages that are offered by private lenders and are not backed by a government agency. They highlight the importance of understanding the difference between conforming and non-conforming loans, as well as the higher interest rates and credit/income requirements associated with conventional loans. Jefi and Ed share how conventional loans can be used for investment properties and the need for buyers and sellers to educate themselves about conventional loans.QUOTES"So that also leads to credit and income requirements. So you're going to have to qualify for those loans. Right. So you're going to have to have a little better credit score and a stable source of income. By Adam Turteltaub For all the talk of tone at the top, the reality is that few employees report to the top. Virtually all report to a manager somewhere in the middle, and it's the tone that leader sets that is often most important. Susan Du Becker, Director Risk & Compliance at Microsoft believes that compliance teams need to focus on managing from the middle and getting this important level of the organization on board. So how do you get these managers to work with you? How do you earn their commitment to help, especially in risk areas like privacy and anticorruption? For her, it's about being inventive and thinking about how you can get them to drive compliance rather than you. To do that, she looks for the key influencers who can serve as champions for the program. They can go upstream or downstream and will help carry the message. Gaining the support of these people requires some effort, she reports. You have to sell them on your vision and let them know that it is to their benefit to further it. If, for example, you can show the sales VP that getting expense reports right reduces the risk of an audit, keeps the salesforce out of trouble and increases the speed with which the team gets reimbursed, you have a supporter. Once you have middle managers on board, make their life as easy as possible. Take away the pain, and give them the tools, templates and PowerPoints they need to put the policy into practice. What should you not do? Become overexuberant. It's critical to avoid running ahead and instead focus on a stair step approach. Also: remember you have to keep them committed. You can't take them for granted. Listen in to learn more about how to make the middle of your organization your greatest supporter.

From corporate America to self-development innovator, Marianne Demello-Smith is creator of the Message in the Middle Podcast & BookClub, a place to explore life's difficult lessons through interviews, self-development, book clubs, self-empowerment and discovery. As our guest, Marianne has observed, life is messy. It darts this way, and that. And we don't have a lot of quiet time for reflection. Sometimes we lose sight of ourselves as we move through life, pushing toward the next goal, whether that's career, family, both. We push and push and just do the next right thingThe Talking Heads pointed this out a couple decades ago, “You may find yourself in another part of the world, you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile. you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife, and you may ask yourself, well, how did I get here?”And like so many of us, that's what happened with Marianne Demello-Smith. But instead of spiraling down the drain, Marianne took the time for quiet reflection, and then moved forward, step by intentional step, into the life she envisioned in that quiet reflection. As a society, we too are at an inflection point, where we can decide where we want to go, as individuals and as a society. It's a scary and exciting place to be all at once.Marianne and I talk about this, and how all of us were forced into a quiet reflection during the pandemic. And even though this looked really different for some, and was not terribly quiet at all for some of us, it was a moment of disruption, of forced change that made us all look at ourselves. Why am I here? How did I get here? Where do I want to go? Where is there meaning? We talk about balance. We talk about setting intentions, and having an intentional life. Of giving that gift to ourselves. And getting validation from ourselves, and not just relying on the external. How we find courage. How we get over ourselves, our egos, and move beyond perfectionism. And how we are all in this big messy life together.Lean into this intimate conversation for some identification and some inspiration.More about Marianne:Check out Marianne's website for Message in the Middle where you can access her podcast by the same name and her awesome virtual book club. Osiris from the "Stuck in the Middle Podcast" represents the sentiments of a majority of people here in the US. They are neither extremely "right" nor extremely "left", they are somewhere in the middle...and stuck. In this episode we break down President Biden's recent 60 Minutes interview where he declared the pandemic "over",said he would intervene militarily in Taiwan, all to the despair of the political left and the white house. This has left many questioning his authority and asking: who's really in charge? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Richey and Matt aren't in the Lounge this week. Not to worry, Sam found a worthwhile fill-in, along with a fantastic guest... the Lounge was cookin'!Sam brought Eugene Calhoun as a guest host. A fellow dad, Eugene brings a similar fatherly perspective, but at a younger age! He was an absolute killer guest host! Our guest is professional disc golf champion and world record holder, Scott Stokely for a return to the Lounge!Scott has been extremely busy with the PGDA, but Sam went the route of healthy eating, being older but still competing at a high level, what are his thoughts on meatless meat? Scott and Sam chat for a few minutes about that, and then Eugene offers a thought-provoking question, and Scott nails it with an answer not many might expect.Sam presents a scenario from a flag-football game, earlier in the day, to ask both Scott and Eugene for their thoughts. The three talk through the situation and how each scenario still might leave holes. The conversation is wonderful! Scott is so open about everything, and that's what we love about him!Eugene was great too! We will have to keep him in our Rolodex for future consideration. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the return of Scott Stokely in the Lounge!Member of #OddPodsMediaPromos: Infectious Groove Podcast & From the Middle Podcast

In lieu of the Will Smith (53) Chris Rock (57) slap heard round the world, we figured now would be a good time to answer the question “When is violence the answer?” In this episode the crew recaps what happened, weighs in on the choice of a slap versus a punch, talks about public humiliation, the effect on the Smith children and explores alternative remedies for this strange, jaw dropping situation. What did Will Smith Reaffirm in the minds of “other races” with his actions? Did he effectively send a message for future jokes about his wife or do you think the most hilarious comedy special is in the works? Would he have hit a white comedian? Female? Will said “Love will make you do crazy things”, but was that actually love that we witnessed? Tune in for answers to these questions in more on the latest Black in the Middle Podcast episode.

Welcome to Episode 1 of the Messy in the Middle Podcast! NOTE: I recorded this episode and we hit 6 figures the next day! So everything I said still stands except we did reach that 6 figure milestone for real
Welcome to the Messy in the Middle Podcast- the show about the many ups and downs we go through in life and business between setting and reaching our goals. I'm your host, Haley Johnson, and I've been living in the messy middle for awhile. I've been in business since 2017 and while I'm definitely not a beginner anymore, I am far from the tales of sipping cocktails on the beach and printing money in my sleep that Instagram would lead me to believe I should be right now. Business is hard. It's messy. The coveted 6 figure business is neither as easy or as fulfilling as it's cracked up to be. I'm sure as hell not ready to throw in the towel but I'm also not going to sit here and pretend it's all sunshine and rainbows either! The Messy in the Middle podcast is all about navigating the spaces that a lot of business owners are sitting in right now. And together my guests and I are going to talk about it all from hiring and team support, to finances and facebook ads, to just wanting to cry sometimes because you feel so freaking alone in all of this. Not enough people are talking about the messy middle of life and business, so that's what I'm going to do! And hope you will join me! Let's connect https://www.instagram.com/haleyejohnson/ Check out my website https://thepropegy.com/ Check out how we can work together https://thepropegy.com/work-with-us-2/

Hey there Middle Podcast listeners. I just wanted to check-in during my break to encourage you a bit through this Christmas season, say "thank you" for tuning in this year and to give you a hint at what is coming in 2022. It's shorter than normal but certainly worth the listen.
I've been working a week behind for the last month so I decided to do a "2 for 1" episode to catch up. A quick look at parallels in the story of Jacob and in part 2, the background story to The Middle Podcast in Joshua. Thank you for listening.
We are continuing the Middle Podcast theme of passages in the life of Jesus or his teachings and linking them back to the Old Testament to deepen and hopefully draw us into Jesus's bringing of the Kingdom of God. This is from one of my favorite stories in the gospels, the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. Hope this is helpful for you.

Hey beautiful lady, This is episode four with Hollie Azzopardi. When I first imagined this podcast – this is the kind of conversation I imagined having. Hollie is relatable, funny, soulful, and just downright joyous to be with and in our conversation, we explore so many topics and ideas that feel relevant and needed for us as women. Conversations that acknowledge shame, invite in curiosity and excitement, and celebrate our uniqueness as really bloody fabulous women. I am recording this intro days after our conversation, and I have to tell you the energy of Hollie and her words have lingered on into my week in the most nourishing way. Little snippets, comments and synchronicities we shared have been lighting me up – and honestly have been inviting me further and further into a fuller expression of myself and I feel like I won't be alone in this once you too, get to experience Hollie's energy and stories. Opening up a conversation about Body Image has always been important to me – however, I haven't shared as openly as you will hear in this episode – I hope it feels as healing for you to hear our stories as it has been for me in sharing them with you. Hollie Azzopardi is a leading Australian Mind, Body & Soul mentor, body love advocate and model, speaker and writer. Co-host of The Middle Podcast, and published in Cosmopolitan, OK Magazine and Mamamia, her sold out workshops, online programmes and speaking events incorporate a refreshing “no bullshit” approach to living in alignment, following your intuition and pursuing what lights you up. If you found today's episode supportive, please subscribe on iTunes and share this episode on your social platform of choice. You will mostly find me hanging out over on Instagram and you can tag me there @jody_mcgrice. One last thing please, please, please, please share this with the women in your life. And, if you are feeling exceptionally generous today you can leave me a review on iTunes so we can share these conversations with even more women. I am so excited to share with you the infectious, Hollie Azzopardi. Love, Jody x
