Season 2 of The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime came to a thrilling (ish?) conclusion in episode 8 and we talked through all of our many feelings. We chatted Julie's love for the epic Balrog fight in Khazad-dum, Andee's excitement at Berek's cameo, and the death that absolutely destroyed Janna emotionally. Plus, we repeatedly expressed our frustration at the pitfalls of 8 episode seasons. Stop it, studios! Find us on social media and let us know what you thought of The Rings of Power season finale!

Before the Fellowship: Fans Read and React to the Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien Every Week
After Morgoth is defeated and captured, Sauron repents of his deeds, but upon facing a sentence from Manwë flees into Middle-earth and returns to his evil ways. After the War of Wrath, Beleriand is destroyed and swallowed by the sea up to Ered Luin. Gil-galad rules Lindon by the Gulf of Lhûn just east of Ered Luin. Teleri elves from Doriath and Ossiriand move inland and dwell among Silvan Elves. The remaining Noldor dwell in Eregion near Khazad-dûm and prosper in friendship with the Dwarves. Sauron seeks to gain influence over the Noldori Elves. He wins them over by insisting that he desires to make Middle-earth a great land. He calls himself Lord of Gifts and shares his knowledge and lore with them. The Elves create several Rings of Power. Sauron creates his One Ring in order to control the wearers of the other rings. Due to their might, he is forced to put much of his strength into the One Ring, but he is able to see all that is done by the wearers of the Rings of Power. The Elves sense him and remove their rings. In anger, Sauron makes open war on them and demands that they give over the rings since they were made with his lore. The Elves flee and are able to save the greatest Three Rings: Narya, the Ring of Fire; Nenya, the Ring of Water; and Vilya, the Ring of Air. 01:19 Dan reads pages 285-288 from the Silmarillion, 2nd Edition 13:19 Summary 14:59 Discussion Watch this Episode on YouTube Send feedback to beforethefellowship@gmail.com Follow us as we follow Tolkien: TWITTER DISCORD The Rings of Power comes to Amazon, but nothing compares to the real story JRR Tolkien wrote. Welcome to the thirty-fifth episode of The Daily Rings of Power Podcast! It's finally here! Our first look at Season 2 arrived not just with a teaser trailer, but also a fascinating behind-the-scenes video giving us an exciting look at what's to come! With so much new content to discuss, I knew that I'd need to call Anna for a detailed discussion of everything we saw and what it all might mean. Join us as we discuss the tragic tale of Celebrimbor, the Lord of Gifts and Wigs, and the many ways our favourite characters seem to be in danger! Welcome to the thirty-fourth episode of The Daily Rings of Power Podcast! We're finally back to begin our coverage for Season 2, as I'm joined by the ever wonderful Anna. With the first teaser trailer for Season 2 only weeks away, Anna and I spent three hours discussing our hopes, expectations and fears for this upcoming season. We purposefully avoided any discussion of leaks and rumours about the show, focusing instead on where we'd like to see the story and characters go over these next eight episodes of television. Season 18, Episode 18: Set Review (Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth) With the full set of Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth revealed and ready for action, Cavedan and Manacymbal join forces to rank the best new cards for Modern. The set continues to deliver small role players and long shot build arounds, but few blue chip staples. Stern Lesson is the cheapest version of Remove Soul, but that family of countermagic has no proven track record in constructed. Similarly, Flowering of the White Tree is the most powerful Anthem ever printed, but are Anthems viable in 2023 Modern? Goblins get a new toy in Moria Marauder, and Food strategies will be happy for the combo and value options that Samwise Gamgee provides. Beyond those, we must look to the far green country for long shot brewing targets. Doors of Durin is both explosive and grindy, Lotho, Corrupt Shirriff has echoes of Ledger Shredder, and Phial of Galadriel offers intriguing card draw possibilities. One does not simply register a brew in Modern, but with good fellowship and true companions our quest for a new deck may yet succeed. Happy brewing! Like our content? The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth spoilers are in full swing, so we dive into a bunch of cards that could see play in existing Modern decks or even create some new ones. Plus we recap the results of the latest Pioneer Regional Championship in Dallas. We attempt to Press the Enemy and get a Stern Scolding. But we Forge Anew with some Orcish Bowmasters and a determined Frodo in the legendary lands of Rivendell. After that we encounter the denizens of Khazad-dûm and Moira. Then Stan cracks a pack. The depth of Tolkien's colorful world continues to glow on the screen. We hear fully developed languages, get hints at the evil lurking in the shadows, and see the shining glory of Khazad-dum pre-Balrog rampage. The Bezos Bucks are paying off as sets, costumes, and effects dazzle. It seemed that HOTD and TROP would inevitably go head to head, and so far each is holding their ground. Got feedback?
