Migrants waiting to enter the US using former Joe Biden's CBP One app broke down in tears after their appointments were canceled the moment President Trump took office Monday – just the first of the sweeping border actions the new administration prepared for the first day. The app – which hundreds of thousands of migrants have used to enter the country since Biden introduced it two years ago – went dark at noon — the very moment Trump was sworn in. Migrants were no longer able to make immigration appointments, and the app showed a message that any outstanding interview dates were canceled. Footage taken by a Washington Post reporter across the border in Jaurez captured the anguish some migrants faced upon learning their shot at making it into the US had vanished – including one woman whose appointment was scheduled for just an hour after the app's closure.
President Donald Trump on Monday officially shut down the Customs and Border Protection-run app designed to help schedule appointments for people seeking eligibility for asylum, closing off a pathway for migrants at the Southern border hoping to enter the United States. Supporters of the CBP One app had said that the system made the jobs of border agents easier, despite technical difficulties and data privacy questions raised by critics of the platform. It's estimated that around a million people used the app to enter the country. The app shutdown came amid a series of other executive orders focused on immigration. Before the election, Trump frequently criticized the app, saying that it was being used for “smuggling” migrants. The Biden administration's Department of Homeland Security unveiled a list of artificial intelligence uses that are prohibited for agency missions as part of a new directive quietly introduced last week. The directive, which is DHS's latest effort to create a guiding policy for the use and acquisition of AI, also sets governance requirements for how the department and its components should approach the technology — including how it should buy, test and operate it, and report any incidents involving its use. While DHS has briefly addressed in previous policy that it's prohibited for department personnel to use AI for discriminatory purposes, the latest policy expands upon and adds to that, more thoroughly detailing uses of AI and associated data that are forbidden. Today's show opens with my thoughts on “masculinity” in light of how former U.S. Press Secretary Jen “Circle Back” Psaki gushed over telling the 2nd husband he is the face of the new masculinity. I'm sorry, but a man who sleeps with and impregnates the nanny, tries to hide it by forcing her to abort the child he made and then paying her $80,000 in hush money, only to get divorced anyway, then slap a girlfriend across the face in public for “flirting” with another guy is not my idea of masculinity. Whatever it is, it's the exact opposite of what a real man is. Tim Walz is still being plagued by the lies of his past coming to the surface and exposing him for the charlatan he is. He keeps trying to blame it on mis-remembering the date, or getting too caught up in this words, or having bad grammar or being a knucklehead. He's simply a liar and a conman who keeps getting caught in the lies he has chosen to create. A Michigan man just proved how easy it is for illegals to use the CPB One app and apply for asylum and gain temporary citizenship with no real end date for that status. He didn't even have to put any identification into the app other than a picture. We then spend the rest of the episode talking about the disaster in North Carolina, how neighbor helping neighbor has been happening since the first day, without assistance from FEMA. Now that FEMA is finally showing up, they are spending their time trying to stop the help ordinary citizens have been providing. Mayor Pete gives us a BS excuse for suddenly locking down airspace to volunteers and fellow Americans from providing life-saving aid. A young Gen-Z'er says they feel abandoned. Another volunteer shared a video expressing dismay over FEMA telling them to stop helping. On top of that, the walking male member with eyebrows, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says FEMA is out of money. Turns out, most of their budget has been spent on the illegals this administration has let into the country. Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) can't understand why the military assets at Fort Bragg (now Liberty) haven't been leveraged until today? Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) is also dismayed that the Federal government only declared an emergency in 11 counties when at least 90 have been affected. All of this is by design. To prove it, I simply turn to the FEMA website and read to you their three goals as an agency. Goal 1 is equity in aid. Goal 2 is man-made climate change. Goat 3 is to remember that whatever the disaster, refer to goals 1 and 2. Maybe this is the wake-up call we need. Maybe we will now understand the wisdom of our Founding Fathers who said, “Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither.” Well, that's exactly what we have with the bloated Federal government. We gave them all the power and money and they are simply unable to do anything. Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. In today's episode, host Tom Butta interviews Jonathan Kay, the Founder & CEO of Apptopia, in a discussion that covers past and current trends in the app market, the changing landscape of app usage, and how we are shifting towards better integrated design and functionality. Apptopia is a web-based market data and intelligence solution for mobile application developers which was founded back in 2011.Tom and Jonathan also explore the concept of mega apps, where brands consolidate multiple apps into one platform. While this approach allows brands to provide a more streamlined and convenient user experience, there are also times when it might be impossible to serve each of your unique customer profiles within one singular app. The interview further delves into how the economy impacts the mobile space, with Jonathan highlighting the trends observed in the travel, entertainment, and retail sectors. The results might be surprising as some key players have actually increased their usage and revenues during times of limited spending. Jonathan emphasizes the importance of brand loyalty and quality in a market driven by price-conscious consumers.—Guest BioJonathan Kay is the Co-Founder and CEO of Apptopia, the app data insights and intelligence company, with clients including Google, Zoom, Visa and NBC. A mobile pioneer, Kay entered the market in 2011 to add transparency to the mobile ecosystem through modeled data estimates, and level the playing field.Starting Apptopia before there were even 100,000 different apps out in the market, Jonathan quickly saw that the best way for someone to differentiate themselves from the noise was through data.

The CBP One app is one of the latest tools the Biden administration is using to funnel illegal immigrants into the United States, while obfuscating the true scope of the border crisis. As Mark Krikorian, host of Parsing Immigration Policy and executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, puts it, the app allows illegal immigrants to “essentially schedule their illegal immigration into the United States.”Andrew Arthur, the Center's resident fellow in law and policy and a former immigration judge, joins this week's podcast to discuss the creation of the CBP One app and how it operates. At its inception during the Covid pandemic in October 2020, the CBP One app was intended to allow legitimate travelers to schedule appointments at ports of entry to limit the amount of time that travelers were spending face-to-face with CBP officers. However, the Biden administration now uses the app to allow travelers arriving without proper documentation to enter the United States – travelers who normally would have no right to enter the country. Migrants can only make appointments through the app in Mexico and Central America, which has encouraged aspiring illegal immigrants to employ smugglers. There is also now a huge backlog of migrants in Mexico waiting for appointments through the CBP One app.In his closing commentary, Krikorian highlights the deceptive CBP border numbers released this week. The Biden administration reports a 70 percent reduction in unlawful entries “between ports of entry.” However, closer inspection of the numbers shows that the Biden administration has simply allowed illegal immigrants to enter at ports of entry using the CBP One app, so they appear “legal.”HostMark Krikorian is the Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies.GuestAndrew Arthur is the Resident Fellow in Law and Policy at the Center for Immigration Studies.RelatedAliens Without Documents at the Ports Aren't ‘Seeking to Enter the United States Lawfully'What's Biden Doing with Migrants at the Ports of Entry?Mission Accomplished at the Border?FollowFollow Parsing Immigration Policy on Ricochet, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts.Intro MontageVoices in the opening montage:Sen. Property management makes or breaks deals in every asset class, but no asset class is more challenging than large multifamily. There are so many people involved, and so many components to the operations, that things are always going wrong, and the risks are high. Surprisingly, there are not a lot of property management technology solutions for multifamily that address all functions within one app. That's why Daniel Cunningham, CEO and Founder of Leonardo 247, created an app that principals and property managers can run their entire buildings from. Leonardo 247 makes property management easier with smart software that streamlines and simplifies tasks while also lowering costs and risks and generates more profitability.

Can one app manage pricing, communications, and payments for health plans? In short, YES! Medxoom "unifies member identity, pricing, communication and payments into one, easy-to-use app". For Episode 82, my guest is James the EVP of Strategy and Growth for MedXoom. His hobbies are triathlons, for which he trains 16-20 hours a week to prepare for events, and scuba diving. Jame calls himself "a back-of-the-pack triathlete", and recently he had to back out of a full Ironman race in Florida about 36 hours prior to it starting because of a lung infection. James has also performed well over 500+ deep dives, saying it is the most peaceful and exhilarating experience simultaneously. He even once found a 1-carat diamond ring during his adventures, as well as visited many underwater shipwrecks. James started his career out in the legal world, then moved on to sales with ADP, then PEO sales, before finding himself in SaaS tech centering around human resources with Namely. His current company is MedXoom, which is a technology platform that has the ability to improve the financial outcomes for both plans and members. Medxoom creates a true white-labeled member experience, with clients ranging from Third Party Administrators, Health Plans, Brokers, and many other solution providers selling out to employers directly. Health Plans have nearly an infinite number of combinations of solutions folded together including things like Telehealth, Direct Primary Care, carved-out PBM's, Reference Based Pricing, etc, and Medxoom allows the administrator to bring all of those components together, white-label in one singular experience, so the member has one place to go. Members can do things like: - Use their Benefits Wallet - Search for Care - Engage with a Care Navigator - Align with a Provider on Price James said one of the reasons they get such good member engagement is that many of their employer clients have gone fully digital, even eliminating plastic ID cards. “You go fully digital and you get adoption” With plans who have done this, they see 70% + in downloads and enrollment within the first week of launch. They also partner with 3rd-party data providers in order to large ingest machine-readable files with pricing data so members can easily search for cost details of care, which helps employers be compliant with the CAA. In the near future, the app will even be able to recognize if certain procedures are searched for and turn that information over to a case manager to proactively help determine the best course of action. Medxoom is also assisting with improving the provider payment process, using something called a “Single Payment Credential” or SPC card. This functions as a single-use, virtual credit card loaded with plan dollars allowing for a closed-loop transaction that pays the provider in full. Medxoom takes it a step beyond and can even float the money for their clients to ensure a frictionless transaction. All of this has led to 100% acceptance of payments using this method. Best of all, Medxoom's clients are giving them data that shows on average, using the SPC method of payment, they are realizing a 40% reduction in unit cost versus traditional network arrangements!
