A longtime conductor of contagious positive vibrations, Danny Bodega is a much loved name among balearic dance music enjoyers round the globe! Co-founding Gazebo Records last year, his killer ear for breezy coastal cruisers and deep crossover club jams make Bodega's effervescent energies the perfect tone setter for those long 'n' balmy summer nights. Step back in time for 3 hours of extended hangs and zesty hedonistic pleasures with Danny Bodega as your good time guarantor! @beaton-4 Q. What inspiration did you draw upon when planning this mix, and what kind of listening environments might you see it being easily enjoyed in? A. Last year I went to my neighbour Lenny's night at a tiny basement club in Hackney with Dan Beaumont and Wes Baggaley playing records together. Had not felt that feeling in the club since the early days going out in Naarm with locals playing records all night at Lounge, Liberty Social and Roxanne Parlour. This mix is a nod to that vibe and best suited to before, or after the club hangs…or triathlon training. Q. Are there any records in the mix that are particularly close to your heart? A. There are quite a few records in here that I've had for more than 10 years and have only ever played to myself at personal kick-ons, so it's a delight to share them more widely. The Usual Suspects remix of Mr. C and Robert Owens' ‘A Thing Called Love' is one. While I've never been a fan of Robert Owens' vocal stylings, this remix is an overlooked $2 Layo & Bushwacka! banger. Will put it up on the Gazebo YouTube channel soon. Q. You and Nick managed to gather a tonne of support for your inaugural Gazebo Records release last year, releasing Fuemana's 1994 cult classic New Urban Polynesian on vinyl for the first time. What was your favourite part about that whole process? A. The response to the Fuemana family's story and musical talents from a whole new generation of fans really blew us away. Having Tony and Mamma Fuemana fly over from Auckland for the launch party was the perfect culmination of family, friends and community spirit around the release that was also the perfect send off for me moving to London the following day. News on Gazebo 002 incoming shortly… Q. Where can people catch you spinning next? A. All night at Frequence in Paris this Friday, Feb 21 at Bodega Nights, April 12 with Daisy Records and Evie at the Jago. Nick and I are putting on a Gazebo party over here on May 3 with some special guests that we are excited about!

We had the pleasure of interviewing Tony McGuinness of Above & Beyond over Zoom video! Before Tony McGuinness was Tony McGuinness of Above & Beyond, he was another artist, another music industry professional, another man entirely, which is completely understandable. Because, for the Tony McGuinness who is finally releasing his debut album almost three decades after he recorded it, it was a whole other lifetime.‘Salt' is the great lost solo project from the songwriter who would become the chief “male voice” lyricist in Above & Beyond (beloved favorites like “Sun & Moon,” “Thing Called Love,” “Northern Soul,” “Gratitude,” and more). Now, at last, in 2024, the fans, followers, and the fascinated can hear the DNA of that songwriting mastery. McGuinness wrote the heart of Salt's nine tracks in a heady six-month burst between 1995 and 1996, the result of a classic '90s whirlwind romance in London that was popping off with the explosion of club culture in the UK.This whirlwind romance became the inspiration behind “Biker Babe,” the first single from the forthcoming album. “She had a Triumph motorcycle T-shirt on,” says McGuinness. "And I just went twang on my guitar and sang: ‘biker babe, biker babe…'. And that's how that song came.”In “Biker Babe,” a sun-dappled Sixties strum with, let's just say it, Noel Gallagher-shaped contours, Tony wrote a song where he and Shelley's story was transposed onto characters in Twin Peaks. “Which is where the mention of The Roadhouse comes from," he says of a lovelorn confessional which, 28 years later, opens Salt, "and ran with that all the way through to the ending. I knew she was gonna have to go back to America because she had no visa, and she had a flat in America that she didn't want to lose.”Also on the “Biker Babe” single is “Babydoll White,” a title which fans may recognize in another form from McGuinness's Deep House alias ‘Fingerprint.' He had remixed the track as a deep house record and released it in 2020 on Anjunabeats; however, the song originated in a completely different form. “Babydoll White” features a guitar solo by co-producer and longtime collaborator Bob Bradley.‘Biker Babe', and the entire “Salt” album is out now via Anjunabeats. When it comes to the concept of love, there is no shortage of stories, songs, poems, movies, books, and more throughout all of human history that attempt to convey what it truly means to love someone. Even so, love, for some people, can be difficult to define. We know it when we experience it. We also know what it means to be unloved, to feel like we are isolated or alone or even hurt by those that we expected to feel love from. In Scripture, Jesus says that the world will know that we are followers of Him by the way that we love. Jesus is the perfect picture of true love, and we are called to be imitators of Him. So how do we do that? How do we, as imperfect people, love other imperfect people perfectly like Jesus did? Is that even possible? Join Pastors Jim, Chad, and Matt for a discussion on how to love like Jesus and how we are called to love one another in the family of God.
