The book of the moment for today's episode is Those Who Wait by Haley Cass. Just a forewarning for those of you listening, this is NOT a spoiler-free zone. We will be discussing this book in all of its glory, which of course includes revealing the ending. Haley lives in Massachusetts, where she has a love/hate relationship with the weather extremities but would also hate to live somewhere without fall foliage. She spends most of her time watching too much television with her friends and thinking about the future. Her mother likes to talk about the time she wrote her first story while sitting under the kitchen table for privacy. Twenty years later, she still likes to write but is slightly too tall to sit under the kitchen table. If you enjoyed this episode, I encourage you to leave a review on whichever platform you are listening on, if applicable. "Good Things Come to Those Who Wait". Really? So where are those good things? What's the point of being nice when you see examples of bad people getting more then you? Bad boys get the girls, Living dangerously makes you seem more exciting, and assholes get married! All the mean while nice guys finish last, emotional guys get ridiculed and incels get shamed. I've been a nice guy all my life and I have nothing to show for it. Sure people "love" me and praise me and say there should be more people like you, so why am I single? It's come to my attention that I need a little edge to me, a little asshole to stoke fire in a girls heart, but my question is.. why? Why do I need to be that? What's "wrong" with being nice, and better yet what's "right" with being in asshole? This episode I talk with the one and only self proclaimed Asshole extraordinaire Ricardo Etienne aka Mr. ESentRic to discuss why it's a fine line to walk between Nice Guy and Asshole. I also pull out Card #110 with another edition of The Skin Deep's {The And} 'Self Edition' card game. Today's card question is: "What is going great in my life right now?" Half-way through advent Jonathan Thomas and guests discuss the concept of 'Waiting'. Today we buy goods at the click of a button, we watch television on demand, it's hard to remember our professional and personal lives before the advent of smartphones. But is there more value in something you've patiently waited for? And what about the nature of waiting itself - are there ways in which we can find peace and even fulfilment in the experience? Waiting is a key concept in many faith traditions and to discuss the subject we hear from Teresa White, a Catholic sister in the Faithful Companions of Jesus based in Poplar, London. She writes about waiting in faith and has recently published ‘Hope and the Nearness of God.' Vishpavani lives in Cardiff, he's a Buddhist and is the Director of Mindfulness in Action. Amanda Morris is a lecturer at the University of Cardiff and a Community Liaison Officer at Muslim Council of Britain. She also supports those converting to Islam at her local mosque. Tanya Marlow is a Christian, she lives with severe M.E. and campaigns for others with chronic illness and disability. She's written a book, ‘Those Who Wait,' about the spiritual value that can be found in longing.

Those Who Wait on the Lord
There are many crossroads in life that we come to, and New Year's strikes me as a sort of little crossroads moment where the meandering path of our life, all the days that have come before, brings us to this new day, this new turning of the calendar. At the beginning of a new year […] The post Things Come to Those Who Wait appeared first on State Road Church.

Welcome to episode 65 of the Lesbian Book Club with Clare Lydon as she interviews US author Haley Cass. Haley’s debut novel “Those Who Wait” took the lesfic world by storm this year, along with its follow-up “Forever And A Day.” Her new book, “When You Least Expect It” is currently thrilling readers around the world, too. She talks about how her debut started life as a Game Of Thrones fanfic, and how blown away she is by the reaction from readers. She also talks about how her favourite part of writing is the angst – when characters truly have to face their fears: “Break-ups and their aftermath are the first things that go in my outline. I’m always ready to write those.” Clare also does a run-down of the Amazon Lesbian Fiction charts in the US & UK. Her new book, Christmas In Mistletoe, is out now! If you’d like to get a free lesbian romance from Clare, head to www.clarelydon.co.uk/it-had-to-be-you and sign up for her VIP Readers’ Club!

Those Who Wait on the Lord Shall Rejoice - The people of God are pilgrims and sojourners in this world, looking ahead to a destination yet to come (1 Peter 2:11–20). Though we are now children of God, the fullness of what we shall be has not yet been revealed (1 John 3:1–3). We are those who wait on the Lord. “The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him” (Lam 3:25). Jesus tells us that the wait is just a little while. “A little while, and you will see me no longer, and again a little while, and you will see me” (John 16:16). Though you must experience sorrow for a time, though you must live as strangers in a world that is at enmity with Christ, yet your sorrow will be turned to joy when He returns. “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength” (Is. 40:31). The little while of weeping shall be replaced with an eternity of rejoicing in the presence of Christ the crucified and risen Savior. “And no one will take your joy from you” (John 16:22).

Pastor Barrie finishes off our Christmas series, "Those Who Wait". Similar to the nation of Israel waiting for their promised Messiah, we too wait for promises that God has spoken over our lives. How do we endure the disappointment that can come with the waiting, while still maintaining a disposition of hope, and continuing to live on purpose? We’re excited to talk about it over the next few weeks.

It's impossible to feel lonely when you've got good music pumping through your speakers. Daley's six-song debut EP for Republic Records, Alone Together, is good music. Sometimes, it's sexy. Other times, it's stirring. However, it's always soulful. Over a short period of time, the 23-year-old R&B impresario has made a name for himself in his native United Kingdom and beyond. His voice fuelled "Doncamatic", the chart-topping single from Gorillaz and "Long Way Home", a standout from Wretch 32. His celebrated independent mixtape, Those Who Wait, has been downloaded over 50,000 times and landed him live gigs stateside for the first time, drawing the attention of the American audience. Now, Alone Together serves as a proper introduction to his distinct style and savvy. "If you’re expecting a straight-up soul singer, that's not necessarily who I am” he declares. “I'm exploring different sounds with the music. However, I am tying it all together with the songs and how I sing them. It’s important for me to write about aspects of life that people can relate to. Any time a drastic change occurs in my life, it ends up as a song." Those moments live on tangibly within the music. The first single, "Alone Together", sees the singer team up with modern soul favorite Marsha Ambrosious. It's a careful distillation of divine delivery and seductive grooves. Elsewhere on the EP, 21st century diva Jessie J joins Daley for "Remember Me", a bluesy and brilliant anthem in its own right.
It was one of our least favorite sayings when we were kids. "Good Things Come to Those Who Wait." When you're a kid, that phrase seems like a parental excuse to not give you the things you want. We don't want to wait. We want everything now! In Exodus 33, good things really come to the one guy, the only guy, who is willing to wait.
