Sam sits down with Formby Golf Club archivist and past Captain - Ian Jamson - to talk about the history of the club. Founded in 1884, Formby is one of the oldest courses on the north west coast and has some fascinating and eclectic tales, which Ian recounts beautifully in this episode. From Horace the Hippo to a clock tower gifted by Sir Bruce Ismay of Titanic fame, and through the evolution of the links and its championship history, it's a brilliant listen! Ian is a superb storyteller and another highly passionate club archivist who thankfully preserves these wonderful stories for future generations, and we're really grateful to him for finding time to sit down with us. Marla Christensen, AMFT, APCC, and Tony Overbay, LMFT, delve into Ethan Kross's "Shift: Managing Your Emotions So They Don't Manage You" for another installment of the "Virtual Couch Book Club." They explore emotional awareness, sensory shifts, and cultural influences on emotional well-being. Practical techniques, such as distant self-talk and the Whoop framework (Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, Plan), are covered, offering listeners actionable strategies for emotional management. Polar Bear Club was a post-hardcore/melodic punk band from upstate New York. They were active mostly from the mid-2000s to around 2015. Their sound was a mix of gruff, emotional vocals with melodic yet aggressive instrumentals. They released albums on Triple Crown Records, Bridge Nine Records and Rise Records. And toured with such bands as The Gaslight Anthem, Set Your Goals, Four Year Strong, Every Time I Die, The Bouncing Souls, Bad Religion, The Story So Far, Citizen, New Found Glory and Taking Back Sunday. I got Jimmy on the Skype and this is what we chat about: His band The Disaster 2 things that kickstarted them to tour Red Leader Records and Matt Rosenberg As 'Twere the Mirror Member changes Clash Battle Guilt Pride Bad tours His voice changing on the last record Audiotree How the band ended Will there be a reunion And a ton more Check out his new band Shy Tooth on Spotify and all the platforms Lastly I do whiteboard animations so if your marketing department has said recently “Hey, we need a whiteboard animation” then email me at mike@drive80.com.

The Rocky Mountain Koi Club, led by Elliot Virgil, is a thriving community of over 100 members who prioritize helpfulness and support within the koi hobby. Eric interviews Elliot and discovers the club's dedication and willingness to travel and volunteer at events like the All-American Koi Show, even when not showcasing their own fish. Elliot's personal journey in the koi hobby exemplifies his "all-in" philosophy, as his passion for koi grew rapidly, leading him to build an impressive 10,000-gallon pond and travel to Japan to purchase high-quality koi. This dedication and desire to help others succeed has contributed to the club's growth and success. Key Takeaways... Embrace a helpful and collaborative attitude in your hobbies and communities, focusing on shared learning and support rather than solely on competition. Don't be afraid to "play all out" and pursue your passions wholeheartedly, as you'll likely regret the things you didn't do more than the things you did. Share your knowledge and enthusiasm with others, as it can create a ripple effect of positive impact and inspire others to join your hobby. Genuine care for others' success will often lead to reciprocal benefits, fostering a sense of abundance and community rather than scarcity. Be open to learning from others, even those with less experience than yourself, as everyone has unique perspectives and insights to offer.
