If you want to know how the United States will gin up the impending war with Iran, we need only look to the past, and previous wars we've artificially precipitated with phony catalysts. So explained Middle East scholar Patrick Clawson in a now-notorious speech as he ADVOCATED for what he called “crisis initiation” to make war with Iran happen. Jimmy and Americans' Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss Clawson's description of past “crisis initiations” that have led to wars like the attack on the Maine, Pearl Harbor, and the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Plus segments on the conviction of Uhuru Movement members on conspiracy charges for “weaponizing free speech” and a health insurance provider backtracking on refusing to cover the cost of anasthesia after the killing of UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson. Also featuring Uhuru Movement Chairman Omali Yeshitela, Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. And a phone call from Andrew Cuomo!
Watch the full conversation with Asad AbuKhalil here on Syria, meeting Nasralla and more: https://www.patreon.com/posts/omali-yeshitela-117262666 Lebanese-American Political science professor Asad AbuKhalil talks about Israel's U.S.-backed genocidal war on the people of Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. He also shares memories of interviewing the slain Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. AbuKhalil also reflects on the elections and the difference (or lack thereof) between Joe Biden and Donald Trump when it comes to foreign policy. But first Omali Yeshitela, the founder of the African People's Socialist Party (APSP) and Uhuru Movement discusses why he and two other members of Uhuru have been convicted of conspiring to act as unregistered Russian agents, in an outrageous miscarriage of justice and a McCarthyite attack on free speech. Given that Joe Biden has pardoned his own son, something he promised not to do, he might as well pardon people who actually deserve it, like Leonard Peltier, Mumia Abu Jamal, Julian Assange, and the Uhuru Movement members, including Omali Yeshitela. He should of course also pardon anyone serving jail for the crimes committed by Hunter. Born in Tyre, Lebanon, Asad AbuKhalil received his BA and MA in political science from the American University of Beirut, and his PhD in comparative politics from Georgetown University. He is the author of Historical Dictionary of Lebanon, Bin Laden, and The Battle for Saudi Arabia, among other titles, and his articles on Middle Eastern politics and culture have appeared in publications throughout the world. AbuKhalil lives in California, where he is a professor of political science at California State University, Stanislaus. Omali Yeshitela is the founder of the African People's Socialist Party (APSP) and Uhuru Movement. In 1968 Chairman Yeshitela founded The Burning Spear newspaper which is still published today. He has authored numerous articles, pamphlets and books. Chairman Omali made “reparations a household word” with the International Tribunal on Reparations for African People which was held in Brooklyn, New York in 1982, finding that African people are owed 4.1 trillion dollars for stolen labor in the U.S. alone. The Chairman founded the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement in 1991 as a revolutionary mass organization to defend the democratic rights of the African working class. Today, Chairman Omali Yeshitela, as the leader of the African Socialist International, speaks to his growing base around the world and leads the worldwide movement for the liberation of Africa and African people everywhere. Attorney James Smith is back for another insightful episode! This time, we dive into the complex world of political criticism, starting with Kamala Harris's time as a prosecutor. We break down the misinformation campaigns—many fueled by foreign actors like Russia—aimed at distorting her record and influencing U.S. opinions. We also discuss the ongoing federal case in Tampa involving the Uhuru Movement, debunking exaggerated claims about Kamala's role, including the myth that she jailed 1,200 men for nonviolent marijuana offenses. By examining probation violations and judicial decisions, we reveal the truth behind these allegations. Next, we tackle gender bias in political criticism, highlighting the double standards faced by women in politics. Our conversation touches on Donald Trump's handling of the transition process and his lack of preparedness for crises like the global pandemic. We contrast this with the need for experienced leadership. Finally, we explore economic policies like the childcare tax credit and the importance of universal healthcare, drawing comparisons to systems like Germany. Four Black nationalists affiiated with the Uhuru Movement, an arm of the African People's Socialist Party (APSP), are on trial for acting as agents of a Russian propaganda network, in what they are calling "the free speech trial of the century." Regardless of whether their activities were protected by the First Amendment, the case reveals the very strangest of political bedfelows. Tucker Carlson, who similarly serves as a conduit for Russian propaganda, is also mentioned (although not charged) in a new federal indictment. Carlson is scheduled to appear onstage with JD Vance later this month, and recently hosted an uncloseted Nazi-nostalgist on his Twitter program. The absurd irony of the APSP platforming Kremlin demonization of Ukraine as a "Nazi" state is heightened by Russia's serial massacres of Black Africans in its new military adventures on the continent. The Anti-Globalization Movement of Russia (AGMR), which seemingly cultivated Uhuru/APSP, is similarly cultivating white supremacists, who are overtly Trump-aligned and marched at the Charlottesville hate-fest in 2017. The ultimate stateside beneficiary of this Kremlin-orchestrated propaganda effort is of course Donald Trump—who as president in 2020 sought to unleash the military against that year's Black Lives Matter uprising. Yet while too many "radicals" take the Kremlin bait, once-reviled "liberals" like the National Urban League actually take a more progressive position on Russia and Ukraine. In Episode 243 of the CounterVortex podcast, Bill Weinberg explores how the American radical left went through the proverbial looking glass, including with analogies from the (last) Cold War. In April 2023, the U.S. government indicted 82-year-old African People's Socialist Party chairman Omali Yeshitela, as well as Penny Hess and Jesse Nevel — together known as the Uhuru 3 — on charges of “failing to register as foreign agents,” merely for expressing their views on Ukraine. The indictment followed the FBI's July 29, 2022, raid on Yeshitela's home and several other homes and offices of Uhuru solidarity movement leaders with flashbang grenades and assault weapons. Jimmy speaks with Yeshitela about the FBI raid on his home, the government's case against the Uhuru 3 and why the group has been so aggressively targeted. Plus a segment with Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Chris Hedges about his recent bout with censorship by TikTok over his criticism of Kamala Harris.

press release from Uhuru! Fed judge rejects Uhuru 3's Motion to Dismiss; Trial date expected to be set in February On Friday, January 26, 2024 U.S. Magistrate Judge Anthony Porcelli in the federal district court of Tampa, Florida filed an order recommending that District Judge William Jung deny the Uhuru 3's motion for dismissal of the bogus charges against Uhuru Movement founder and Black Liberation leader Chairman Omali Yeshitela, along with Penny Hess and Jesse Nevel, two white solidarity organizers with the Uhuru Movement. Last year the U.S. federal government indicted the Uhuru 3 on the absurd charges that Chairman Omali Yeshitela and the Uhuru Movement's 50 year struggle for Black freedom suddenly became a “Russian-led conspiracy.” The indictment came nine months after the violent military-style multi-city FBI raids on seven homes and offices of the Uhuru Movement on July 29, 2022. The Uhuru 3 attorneys' motion for dismissal called for the baseless charges to be dismissed on the grounds that they violate the First Amendment right to freedom of speech. The case is expected to go to trial later this year. Dates for the trial are expected to be set at a status hearing in February. “The U.S. government has put us in the position of having to fight for the free speech that they claim is the cornerstone of U.S. democracy,” said Chairman Omali Yeshitela. The Uhuru 3 each face a sentence of up to 15 years in prison. The Uhuru 3 case sparked the emergence of a global anti-colonial free speech movement led by the Hands Off Uhuru Fightback Coalition. Clearing the FOG with co-hosts Margaret Flowers and Kevin Zeese
Nearly one year ago, on July 29, 2022, the FBI simultaneously conducted a heavily-militarized raid on seven facilities associated with the African People's Socialist Party and the Uhuru Movement in Missouri and Florida. The federal government seized computers, phones and archival material. This was later used to fabricate federal charges against three members, Chairman Omali Yeshitela, Penny Hess and Jesse Nevel. Clearing the FOG speaks with Chairman Yeshitela about the raid and prosecution and the new anti-colonial free speech coalition launched this month. Chairman Yeshitela explains why the coalition is specifically anti-colonial and why this broad movement is necessary to protect our First Amendment rights to free speech and assembly. He also urges everyone to support Black is Back's November 4 March on the White House. For more information, visit HandsOffUhuru.org and PopularResistance.org.

Don't miss this special edition of Reparations in Action that features an interview with African People's Socialist Party Department of Agitation and Propaganda Director, Akile Anai about the significance of the 25 year anniversary of the police murder of TyRon Lewis and the heroic rebellions that emerged in response to this colonial murder of an 18 year old African in broad daylight. The African community of St. Petersburg, FL had been politicized by 30 years of leadership from the Uhuru Movement and rose up in armed resistance to the police and colonial state after TyRon Lewis was shot to death by a white cop on October 24th just blocks away from the Uhuru House. The black community of St Petersburg challenged the police with a fierce armed resistance again on November 13th, 1996 in what has been called the Battle of St. Pete. The November 13th uprising came in response to over 300 armed to the teeth police converging on the Uhuru House ( headquarters of the African People's Socialist Party) and attempting to set the building on fire with incendiary tear gas cannisters while over 100 men women and children were inside for a regular Wednesday night meeting of the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement. The heroic actions of the African working class put out the fire at the Uhuru House and forced an army of colonial police to retreat . Gunshots from the community forced a police helicopter and airplane out of the sky. The Battle of St Pete was an example of serious guerilla warfare on the part of a colonized population that ended in a decisive military and political victory for the African working class and the African Revolution. November 13th, 1996 was a serious defeat for the global system of colonial capitalism that must be upheld by revolutionaries and freedom loving people who support self determination for the African community. In the era of mass protest and uprisings against police terror that have followed the murder of George Floyd it is critical that we internalize the lessons from this revolutionary victory that led to 8 years of not a single African person being murdered by the police in St Petersburg. Tune in to this first episode of a two part series on the Battle of St Pete and learn why this city is known as the City of African Resistance
Episode 2: Shattering the white lie that "Europeans discovered the world in the Age of Exploration." Reparations in Action Host Jamie Simpson welcomes African People's Solidarity Committee (APSC) Chairwoman Penny Hess, author of the book Overturning the Culture of Violence and Uhuru Solidarity Movement Chair Jesse Nevel to explore the genocidal history of colonial capitalism. On Friday, February 26th we will take aim at the lie that Europeans or white people discovered a “ New World” during an age of “Exploration”. The ‘White Lies Shattered' series will use the historical record and African Internationalism, the political theory developed by Uhuru Movement leader Chairman Omali Yeshitela, to destroy the insidious lies white people tell ourselves about the nature of capitalism and the violent process that brought it into being. Each episode will focus on a specific lie this system uses to defend itself from criticism and from the just demand for reparations.
On today's episode we interview Ticharwa Masimba, a member of the African People's Socialist Party as well as the Economic Development Director of the Black Power Blueprint project in St Louis. The Black Power Blueprint was initiated by the Uhuru Movement in the wake of the murder of Mike Brown on August 9th, 2014 and the subsequent African uprisings. Chairman Omali Yeshitela traveled to Ferguson to build the movement there and later Deputy Chair Ona Zene Yeshitela spent over a year in Ferguson leading up the visionary Black Power Blueprint project which has created an Uhuru House community center, outdoor venue space and marketplace, community garden, housing, and so much more, in the context of a struggle to advance the political and economic power in the hands of the African working class. Ticharwa Masimba plays a key role in that work.
#NJRR Live is back! Tonight, join Brian and guest co-host Lisa Davis as we discuss the Black Liberation movement. Then, Chairman Omali Yeshitela joins us to talk about his experience in the military.
In, Amilcar Cabral and the Theory of the National Liberation Struggle, Professor Nzongola-Ntalaja writes that: “Amilcar Cabral's contribution to understanding the success and failures of liberation movements, resides in his demonstration that national liberation struggles have two phases: the national phase and the social phase, with the latter being more crucial to its ultimate conclusion (1972: 102-110). This analysis is of course theorized within the reality that nation states themselves have deep inherent structural implications that will come into conflict with communities of people that are excluded in its fundamental assumptions of how and for whom society should be organized. It also is based on the reality that nation states, as advanced through European projects, were themselves developed as a direct product of imperialism and its attendant forms of colonialism (direct, indirect, neo, settler, internal). According to Amiri Baraka in Towards Ideological Clarity, “the 18th century [a time when European nation states, driven by the old wars between tribal Europe rapidly began to solidify their existence in national entities] was, also, the time when European capitalism amassed the initial wealth it needed to bring about the unprecedented technological advances responsible for what was later called the: industrial revolution. This primitive accumulation cannot be separated from the European Slave Trade...". Writing in How Europe Underdeveloped Africa, Walter Rodney further argues that: “throughout the 17th and 18th centuries and for most of the 19th century, the exploitation of Africa and African labor continued to be a source for the accumulation of capital to be re-invested in Western Europe. The African contribution to European capitalist growth extended over such vital sectors as shipping, insurance, [the formation of international corporations-such as but not limited to, the African Royal Company, East Indian Company, etc], capitalist agriculture, technology and the manufacture of machinery...". The legacy of this is encapsulated in an African world left to wrestle with the contradictions inherent in sociopolitical and economic structures where the exploitation of human and natural resources is the foundational ethos and the human response is a reclamation of its humanity as developed from a critical consciousness—in the case of the African world, a critical Africana consciousness. Today, AWNP is in conversation with veteran activist and political theorist, Omali Yeshitela, Chairman of the African People's Socialist Party. In 1966, Chairman Omali Yeshitela after ripping down a racist mural from the walls of City Hall in St Petersburg, Florida, developing a political and intellectual trajectory informed by anti-colonial movements around the world and the struggle for liberation by people of African descent in the U.S., Yeshitela has dedicated his life to refining a praxis that seeks to institutionalize freedom for the African world. In 1972, the African People's Socialist Party was formed along with the worldwide Uhuru Movement and the African Socialist International, with branches active in the U.S., Europe, the Caribbean and on the continent of Africa. Last year, Chair Omali, as Malcolm X did 55 years ago, traveled to London to participate in the formal debates at the Oxford Union. He was asked to argue in favor of the house embracing an ever-closer African union. Our show was produced today in solidarity with the Native/Indigenous, African, and Afro Descendant communities at Standing Rock; Venezuela; Cooperation Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi; Brazil; the Avalon Village in Detroit; Colombia; Kenya; Palestine; South Africa; and Ghana and other places who are fighting for the protection of our land for the benefit of all peoples!
