Who is Quentin Michael?Quentin grew up in Minnesota. He was a shy, soft-spoken kid with a mind that went a mile a minute. (later being diagnosed with ADHD)In 2012, he moved to Wisconsin to start university and found his interests sparked in the tech industry. He attempted to create his first startup that was in the virtual reality space but failed within the next 6 months. He later realized he'd entered the space to just "look cool" and not for the right reasons. Despite the failed attempt, he still kept an eye on the possibility of entrepreneurship as he finished his bachelor's.Two years after graduating he found himself in a bad situation, mentally and financially. He'd hit rock bottom. Over the next 6-9 months he dabbled with different platforms and soon found himself on Linkedin where he become one of Linkedin's first video creators. After beginning to find success on the platform, he started the marketing agency, Urban MisFit Ventures. Over the next few years his company, following, and opportunities grew. Linkedin had changed his life. He found himself on Wisconsin's 25 under 25 and speaking at events like VidCon and TEDx. The opportunity and income came at a cost though, a TON of his time. Micheal found himself working 80+ hours a week with his life revolving around his business. After 2 1/2 years of excitement, things came crashing down in 2020. He shut his company down, COVID hit, & his younger brother passed changing his life perspective forever. Everything changed.Over the next year, things slowed down as he attempted to find his next moves. He dabbled in consulting and podcasting. After that year of reflection, in January 2021, he left entrepreneurship momentarily and become the Marketing Lead at, Lewis Howe's, Greatness Media. After a year, he found himself back into the constant working cycle and felt his work at Greatness Media had run its course despite being a wonderful experience. This brings us to today where Quentin Michael3 aims to live more and work less.He is focused on:Running experiments. Both business and social. Building a business that supports the lifestyle he wants to live. There is a word out there called "multi-hyphenate." It is defined as "a person, especially a celebrity, with several professions or skills." Quentin Allums fits that definition to a T. I've written and rewritten this description approximately 2,000 times trying to summarize all of the creative work he has done over the years and it's nearly impossible to put a nice tidy bow on it. Quentin is an entrepreneur by nature. He has started not 1, not 2, but 3 companies in his 20s, including most recently an agency called Urban Misfit Ventures that helped some of the biggest names in business develop their personal brands. Quentin is also a podcaster. His show, Stupid Deep, was a Top 50 show on Apple Podcasts in the first month of existence (it also helped him land his current job leading the marketing team for Lewis Howes at Greatness Media). Quentin is also a video creator. And a damn good one at that. He was one of the first people in the world to put original video content on LinkedIn and it has since helped him amass a massive audience to the tune of over 15+ million views on his content. The list goes on and on. He has a newsletter called Dear Strange People with over 30,000 subscribers. He has spoken at TedX. He is building out social experiments to be shared on YouTube. And the best is yet to come... We talked about a little bit of everything in this episode from his "create twice, post once" creative process, to being bad at things, to his buttery smooth radio voice. Episode 38. On The Journey to Master Storytelling with Quentin Allums What happens when story other people see is not the same as the one we tell ourselves? How do you use your employees stories to drive engagement? What's the difference between video and audio storytelling? Welcome to The Storypowers Podcast, the show about the power of stories, the people who tell them and why you should be doing it too. I'm your host, keynote speaker and storytelling coach, Francisco Mahfuz. My guest today is Quentin Allums When I book someone in for the podcast, I asked to send me a short description I can use to introduce them. But Quentin wrote: "I'm just Q. So many changes in my life right now I don't even know how to answer this question haha." What I can tell you is that Q was one of the first people to go all in as a video creator on LinkedIn, and his content has been seen more than 10 million times since. He spoke at VidCon, TEDx and Inbound and was one of the founders of Urban Misfit Ventures, a start-up who helped individuals and companies build influence and leverage content through video storytelling He's also recently started Stupid Deep, which he describes as a cinematic podcast, and what's possibly a never-ending journey to becoming a master storyteller. You can find Q on LinkedIn, and and you can find his podcast here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/stupid-deep/id1540594431 If you like the show, please leave us a rating on Apple podcasts, share it and SUBSCRIBE! Had to repost one of my favorite interviews from 2018. Brema has an incredible story and an outlook on life that I think many of us could learn from (myself included.) I've been really busy with building my new business, Scrunchies.co so the Real Talk series is on a bit of a pause. Brema Brema is one of the founding members of the Urban Misfit Ventures and an overall badass creative. Brema grew up in a refugee camp in Sudan and with the help of the United Nations he and his family were able to move to the United States. Initially, he didn't fit in and was bullied at school. But rather than use that negative energy in a harmful way, Brema invested his focus into art. From negative -> positive. Talking with Brema you can tell he's a humble guy but one look at his Instagram page @optic.legacy (currently at 58,000 followers) and you can see how talented he is in his work. Throughout the years, Brema has built up a portfolio of creative passions from skating -> graffiti -> clothing -> photography. Regardless his work is visually aesthetic and uniquely him. He is currently a creative director at the Urban Misfit Ventures and founder of his own clothing line @unfinishedlegacy. At only 20 years old, Brema was named one of Wisconsin's 25 Under 25 Rising Entrepreneurs.

On the side, Quentin creates viral (and badass) content and speaks at events like VidCon (the largest video conference in the world). Additionally, he has a TEDx talk coming up. In this conversation, we chat about how he was a week away from quitting entrepreneurship and what simple shift changed everything and landed him three clients that same week. Q also tells us why he is “strange on purpose.” Visit Q: Instagram | Twitter | LinkedIn | UrbanMisfitVentures.com
I've made it to 20 episodes! Izzy Lugo is COO at Urban Misfit Ventures, an 8-month-old, start-up holding company that Izzy confesses “pivots a lot.” One agency subsidiary, IEEG, specializes in storytelling and influencer marketing – often by creating a video to tell a brand's story. The influencer marketing portion of their work is based on stories told by influencers, but the influencers are Urban Misfit Venture's employees, each of whom has a massive individual following. Because the employees are the influencers, they can consult with clients and carefully craft the messages that need to be presented. No paying an influencer and trusting that individual to say “the right thing.” IEEG knows what message it wants to send . . . and knows it is going to get it. Urban Misfit Ventures' clients include Milwaukee's professional sports teams and national and international clothing and design brands, who are amazed that the agency and the influencers are one and the same. The second Urban Misfit Ventures' subsidiary, MKE Misfits, is an events company that tells the client's brand story, is very involved in that story, and then provides “quirky” experiential promotions to differentiate itself and its client companies. The company has a major reputation in the Milwaukee area. Urban Misfit Ventures is planning to introduce a number of other specialty subsidiaries I 2019. How did it all start? After a period of separate careers, Quentin, Izzy's college roommate, had met with two of the company's other founders, and then approached Izzy to pitch the idea of Urban Misfit Ventures. After an hour conversation, Izzy was on board, and two weeks later, he quit his job at the bike share. In eight months, the team has grown to 10 employees, including interns. When they started, they traded services for their space at a co-working space, truly starting from scratch. Izzy can be reached on his company's website at: urbanmisfitventures.com, as can anything related to IEEG or MKE Misfits. His company is also on LinkedIn and Instagram. Izzy, Israel Lugo III uses @IzzyLugo for all his handles..

Whether that's creating a LinkedIn video for 90 straight days or quitting his full-time job to co-found a company, Eric is a doer.
