The puck has officially dropped on the NHL's preseason schedule and that means we are only a few weeks away from the start of the regular season. We are in full-blown fantasy hockey draft prep mode which is why on Wednesday's new episode we take a look at the results from Steele's most-recent fantasy hockey draft. Flip and Steele take a look into this draft which Steele had the 9th overall selection, which is a tough spot to draft from on the best of days, where with his first pick he selected Tampa Bay Lightning stud Nikita Kucherov. He followed that up with his strategy of pairing his top pick with a top fantasy defenseman from the same team and selected Victor Hedman, again of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Steele went on to select the likes of such players as Vancouver Canucks No. 1 goalie Thatcher Demko as well as later in the fantasy hockey draft he grabbed St. Louis Blues starter Jordan Binnington. Tune in to today's episode an avoid the mistakes of other fantasy hockey GMs like in this league who took New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin first overall, or even worse, Washington Capitals new netminder Darcy Kuemper who was picked with the 10th overall pick! When it comes to dominating your fantasy league for the upcoming season, you're going to have to fill out some of your roster with a couple of aging players who can still get it done in the NHL today. Which is why on today's new episode Steele and Flip discuss the Top-5 veteran fantasy defenseman over the age of 30 - aside from Roman Josi and Victor Hedman who were the two clear top choices. When it comes to the top veteran blue-liners in today's NHL, you cannot have the discussion without the likes of Pittsburgh Penguins All-Star Kris Letang or former Norris Trophy winner in the newly-acquired Brent Burns for the Carolina Hurricanes. You can find some awesome fantasy value in some of these older D-men who can still clearly contribute. That discussion continues to involve a few names that you might not expect, including the likes of Anaheim Ducks new arrival in John Klingberg, a player who might just be the additional piece your fantasy team might need come money season. Atlantic Division Preview: Battle of Ontario Is Back + Can the Red Wings Take a Step Forward?

Our breakdown and preview of the NHL's four divisions finishes with the Atlantic, a division much improved from only a season ago and one in which the upcoming campaign is sure to leave at least a couple of really good teams on the outside looking in. The Boston Bruins had a very quiet offseason, likely too quiet, and that could cost them a trip to the playoffs - something both Flip and Steele predict will happen. Speaking of predictions, both Flip and Steele really like the fantasy hockey options with the Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators, two teams that were quite busy bolstering their rosters this summer. So much to like offensively with both top-six forward groups that include the likes of Senators Drake Batherson and Brady Tkachuk and Red Wings' Lucas Raymond and Tyler Bertuzzi. With perhaps the boldest prediction of all, Steele expects the Toronto Maple Leafs to sit atop the Atlantic Division when all is said and done next year. Flip tends to disagree as the Tampa Bay Lightning will still be a force with the likes of Andrei Vasillevskiy, Victor Hedman, and others. Do not miss any bold takes or predictions for the Atlantic this season on today's episode. Thanks for making Locked On Fantasy Hockey your 1st listen, every day. Happy Monday! Hunter is home now and starts the show by wishing Sidney Crosby a delighted 35th birthday. He goes into some of Sid's best moments throughout his career, including when he had his teeth knocked out by Darian Hatcher and then scored the game-winner as a rookie. He also looks at how much he's grown as a player and a leader on and off the ice over his career and how Pittsburgh is just lucky to have him. He then looks at how many points he'd likely have now had David Steckel and Victor Hedman not concussed him during the peak of his career. After that, Hunter looks at some hires made by the Penguins on Monday and what they mean going forward before giving a small scoop on the Winter Classic jersey that hasn't been announced yet. Finally, he ends the show with some reverse retro talk and goes into what the Penguins could be planning for that jersey later this year. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Nazem Kadri was never going to miss the Stanley Cup Finals in their entirety. He wasn't even going to come back for a one off and just be there for the end. He wanted to get back on the ice ASAP and make a mark on this series. Boy, did he. A classic of a game that saw both the Colorado Avalanche and Tampa Bay Lightning going back and forth, headed into overtime for the second time this series. And just like the first time the Avalanche went home the winner. This time it was Kadri, playing in his first game since getting injured against Edmonton, putting home the game winner that not many people even noticed went in. But it did, and the Avs now have a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. This game was also about Avs goalie Darcy Kuemper. A game to forget in Game 3, many were questioning if he should go back out for Game 4. Jared Bednar was confident he could return to his regular season form, and he answered the call. Kuemper might have let an easy one in by Victor Hedman, but he was great all game long. Now the Avalanche head back home and have the opportunity to win their first Stanley Cup in 21 years and do it in front of the home crowd. Ball Arena will be a mad house. Tune in and subscribe!!
