Son nouvel album brouille encore plus les pistes et mélange les genres, entre electronica, ambient et lDM pour “Intelligent Dance Music” un sous-genre dont Aphex Twin est devenu le chef de file. Dès les premières notes, l'auditeur est plongé dans un monde où les lois de la musique semblent réinventées, où le rythme devient imprévisible. Il est signé par Aphex Twin qui a décidé un jour de faire un morceau sur un lécheur de fenêtres.« Windowlicker », c’est le titre de ce morceau fou et chelou de 1999, un maxi sorti à l’époque sur le label Warp - considéré par beaucoup de gens comme un des morceaux de musique électronique les plus importants des années 90. Et ne nous écharpons pas à essayer de définir le style de ce morceau, parce qu’Aphex Twin, c’est un producteur capable de tout.D’ailleurs, sur ce morceau, Richard D. James choisit le pseudo Aphex Twin, mais parfois on l’appelle AFX, ou Blue Calx ou The Tuss.Si « Windowlicker » a marqué tant de gens, ce n'est pas seulement en tant que morceau - qui démocratise un style de productions électroniques expérimentales, c’est aussi en tant que clip totalement allumé, réalisé par Chris Cunningham, avec des scènes d’orgies dans une limousine où tous les participants ont le visage d’Aphex Twin.
