Yes! Chef!  Nick and Angela are joined by Jon Favreau for an episode packed with appreciation for great food, and the creativity and passion that goes into making it. Jon arrives in the kitchen in the middle of a gigantic world press tour to promote his new movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, the latest adventure in the Star Wars universe. The film, of which Favreau is director, co-writer and producer, is out in cinemas this week and boasts an all-star cast including Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White.  Jon is well versed with the culinary world, most notably with his 2014 film Chef, where he played a cook who starts up his own food truck. In order to prepare for the role, he schooled up on a range of cooking techniques with long-term collaborator, the Korean-American chef Roy Choi. Jon's passion for chef life also extended to him getting his own commercial kitchen fitted and working with Choi on The Chef Show, where he shared meals with celebrity guests including Gwyneth Paltrow and one of our faves, Tom Holland. Add those credentials to his back catalogue of film work, which includes Iron Man, The Jungle Book and Elf, and you have the ingredients for a top quality Dish guest.  The episode's meal is a request from Jon: a simple but perfect Cacio e pepe gnocchi with broccoli & walnuts, a creation he admires from the best spot in the kitchen. The wine pairing is a bottle of Broglia Gavi DOCG.  Enjoy this one, food lovers, as Jon shares his joy for food with us all. We get to level up the Fast Food Quiz, hear about DJing for Mark Ronson, find a rare Favreau knowledge gap, and ‘the clean plate club' is born.   You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and on Spotify.  All recipes from this podcast can be found at waitrose.com/dishrecipes A transcript for this episode can be found at waitrose.com/dish If you want to get in touch with us about anything at all, contact dish@waitrose.co.uk  Dish from Waitrose is made by Cold Glass Productions Learn more about your ad choices. Anxiety isn't a malfunction to be silenced; it's a message asking to be heard. We sit down with therapist and educator Catherine Deeks Gnocchi to rethink fear through the lenses of evolution, mindfulness-based psychotherapy, and Japanese ikigai—revealing how anxiety can guide you back to your values and toward a life that actually fits.Catherine breaks down the nervous system in plain language: anxiety mobilizes the sympathetic “protect” response, while empathy and connection restore the parasympathetic “recover” state. We trace how early defenses like fawning or avoidance become adult habits, why shame can freeze growth, and how healthy guilt, curiosity, and self-compassion help us update old patterns. Catherine shares insights from her research on anxiety and empathy among university students, why these traits can rise together in demanding environments, and how lived experience of suffering often deepens compassion. From there, we get practical. We map values-based therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Self-Determination Theory into simple steps: clarify values, spot triggers, name roles, and take small, repeatable actions that honor who you are. We explore ikigai as everyday meaning—not a grand purpose but a daily feeling found in small rituals, mindful walks, shared meals, and moments of real connection. Ibasho, a sense of belonging you can carry anywhere, becomes the anchor for authenticity across life's roles. Along the way, two mantras keep us grounded: thoughts are not facts, and anxiety is your friend. If you're ready to replace reflex with awareness and turn fear into direction, this conversation offers science, story, and tools you can use today. Listen, share with someone who needs it, and if it resonated, subscribe and leave a review so more people can find the show.

Carnival in Verona - Gnocchi, History, and a Celebration That Predates Them All

Flavor of Italy podcast

This week's podcast episode is a re-release from two years ago, but the story it tells remains timeless. It explores the deep roots of Carnival in Verona, why gnocchi are inseparable from the celebration, what locals eat and drink during Carnival season, what else to see while you're in town, and how easy it is to pair Verona with a quick day trip to nearby Venice. When people think of Verona, the first images are often Shakespearean: Romeo and Juliet, the small balcony in the historic center, and the romance that clings to the city's stones. Others think immediately of wine—Valpolicella, Amarone, Soave—some of the Veneto's most celebrated bottles produced just beyond the city. But every winter, another identity takes center stage. Carnival in Verona transforms the city into a living expression of history, food, and neighborhood pride, and it does so earlier and longer than most Carnival celebrations in Italy.

We kick things off with the Show Pony flexing on Ben Stiller after he had things to say after the last meeting between the Heat and Knicks, and Tobin wonders where the Twitter fingers are now. Tobin and Leroy break down Kel'el Ware's performance last night, and Tobin likes his new shiny toy in Simone Fontecchio as the gang gets into the Thanksgiving spirit with Leroy giving everyone a step-by-step breakdown of how to fry a turkey. Is Jimmy Butler dodging his return to Miami? Tobin happens to think so, while Leroy is sick of the load management in professional sports and thinks why people are getting hurt. Brittney has the rant of all rants as she gets heated talking about Jaelan Phillips and him seemingly forgetting where he came from, and we play our favorite Tuesday game Damage is Done with Benstiller, friendly fire and more hate on Jaelan Phillips. Leroy tries to convince Tobin and Brittney that Notre Dame deserves to be higher than the Canes in the College Football Playoff, but Tobin is neither impressed nor hearing it. The gang is then joined by Doug Plagens as he talks about how fun the back-to-back Stanley Cup runs have been to call, the teams struggles and hopes for a threepeat, and of course Leroy asks him all his pressing and ridiculous Hockey questions. The guys go through the slate of last night's games one more time as both the Heat and Cats get the job done, our listeners are never safe from Leroy food ASMR as he indulges in a plate of Gnocchi, and Tobin is pressured by Leroy and Jfig to prove his loyalty by booing when Jimmy Butler is announced tomorrow.
