The Tao Te Ching (pronounced Dao De Jing), traditionally credited to the 6th-century BC sage Lao Tzu is a Chinese masterpiece, and is one of the world's most revered sources of spiritual wisdom. The text's authorship, date of composition and date of compilation are debated. The oldest excavated portion dates back to the late 4th century BC, but modern scholarship dates other parts of the text as having been written—or at least compiled—later than the earliest portions of the Zhuangzi. This ancient classic presents timeless spiritual meditations on wisdom in action, illustrating important lessons that have resonated with its students for centuries.

The Art of War is an ancient Chinese military treatise dating from the 5th century BC. The work is composed of 13 chapters, each devoted to an aspect of warfare and how it applies to military strategy and tactics. For almost 1,500 years it was the lead text in an anthology that would be formalised as the Seven Military Classics by Emperor Shenzong of Song in 1080. The Art of War remains the most influential strategy text in East Asian warfare and has influenced both Eastern and Western military thinking, business tactics, legal strategy and beyond.

What is the source of thoughts? Can we control our thoughts? A thought is a representation of something. A representation is a likeness, a thing that depicts another thing by having characteristics that correspond to that other thing. For example, a picture, image, imprint, or mold of an object is a representation of that object. Thought is an idea or opinion produced by thinking, or occurring suddenly in the mind. So are thoughts simply a reflection of our subjective reality? ▶️ To download the podcast follow the link: https://www.jasoncain.net/podcasts/wdotcf-podcast ▶️You can read the same audio in blog format: https://www.jasoncain.net/blogs/wdotcf-blog

The Kama Sutra, or Aphorisms on Love, has survived at least 1400 years as a dominant text on sexual relations between men and women. Vatsyayana claimed to have written the Kama Sutra while a religious student, in contemplation of the Deity - but references to older works, shrewd disputations by Vatsyayana of those authors' recommendations, and careful cataloging of practices in various of the Indian states indicate much more emphasis on kama, or sensual gratification. Part of the book discusses the 64 arts of love employed by masters of coitus. Learning each of these and when and how to practice them, Vatsyayana affirms, not only leads to the best gratification, but makes the artist a person of great desirability. Once the means of sexual congress are discussed, the many types of male-female relationships and their proper prosecution are covered. Some of these have small relevance to the modern world, such as how to sneak into the King's harem, but are interesting nonetheless. Others, such as how to get money from a lover, will probably remain useful as long as there are humans in the world.

Journey to Ixtlan is the third book by Carlos Castaneda, published as a work of non-fiction by Simon & Schuster in 1972. It is about an alleged apprenticeship to the Yaqui "shaman," Don Juan. The title of this book is taken from an allegory that is recounted to Castaneda by his "benefactor" who is known to Carlos as Don Genaro ( Genaro Flores ), a close friend of his teacher don Juan Matus. "Ixtlan" turns out to be a metaphorical hometown ( or Place / Position of Being ) to which the "sorcerer" or warrior or man of knowledge is drawn to return, trying to get home. After the work of "stopping", his changed perspective leaves him little in common with ordinary people, who now seem no more substantial to him than "phantoms." The point of the story is that a man of knowledge, or sorcerer, is a changed being, or a Human closer to his true state of Being, and for that reason he can never truly go "home" to his old lifestyle again. In Journey to Ixtlan Castaneda essentially reevaluates the teachings up to that point. He discusses information that was apparently missing from the first two books regarding stopping the world which previously he had only regarded as a metaphor.

A man of knowledge is free...he has no honor, no dignity, no family, no home, no country, but only life to be lived." --don Juan A Separate Reality is a work that is at once the discovery of a hitherto unrecorded body of wisdom and knowledge and the story of a remarkable and shattering personal experience. This is the second volume in the Don Juan series. The Teachings of Don Juan is the first volume. (this audiobook is an abridged version of the paperback) In 1961 a young anthropologist subjected himself to an extraordinary apprenticeship to bring back a fascinating glimpse of a Yaqui Indian's world of "non-ordinary reality" and the difficult and dangerous road a man must travel to become "a man of knowledge." Yet on the bring of that world, challenging to all that we believe, he drew back. Then in 1968, Carlos Castaneda returned to Mexico, to Don Juan and his hallucinogenic drugs, and to a world of experience no man from our Western civilization had ever entered before.
What are the four enemies? Who is the man of knowledge? The concept of the “man of knowledge” is a person who lives an examined life and progresses through stages of awareness, connection, and ego dissolution. A man of knowledge is one who has followed truthfully the hardships of learning, a man who has, without rushing or without faltering, gone as far as he can in unraveling the secrets of power and knowledge. To become a man of knowledge one must challenge and defeat his four natural enemies. ▶️ You can read the same audio in blog format: https://www.jasoncain.net/blogs/mok-blog ▶️ To download the podcast follow the link: https://www.jasoncain.net/blogs/mok-podcast
The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge was published by the University of California Press in 1968 as a work of anthropology, though it is now widely considered a work for fiction. It was written by Carlos Castaneda and submitted as his Master's thesis in the school of Anthropology. It purports to document the events that took place during an apprenticeship with a self-proclaimed Yaqui Indian Sorcerer, don Juan Matus from Sonora, Mexico between 1960 and 1965. The book is divided into two sections. The first section, The Teachings, is a first-person narrative that documents Castaneda's initial interactions with don Juan. He speaks of his encounters with Mescalito (a teaching spirit inhabiting all peyote plants), divination with lizards and flying using the "yerba del diablo" (lit. "Devil's Weed"; Jimson weed), and turning into a blackbird using "humito" (lit. "little smoke"; a smoked powder containing Psilocybe mexicana). The second, A Structural Analysis, is an attempt, Castaneda says, at "disclos[ing] the internal cohesion and the cogency of don Juan's Teachings."
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few. So begins this most beloved of all American Zen books. Seldom has such a small handful of words provided a teaching as rich as has this famous opening line of Shunryu Suzuki's classic. In a single stroke, the simple sentence cuts through the pervasive tendency students have of getting so close to Zen as to completely miss what it's all about. An instant teaching on the first page. And that's just the beginning.

Now this is nothing new, as the ancient Greek philosopher Plato. 360 B.C. theorized that the classical elements of the world were made of these regular solids. Originally called Dhyana in India, zazen has evolved and changed to suite the Japanese mind set, making Zen meditation a very simple yet precise method of meditation where the correct breathing and posture are a fundamental part of the zazen practice, and while the mind may wander off into thoughts of the past and speculations concerning the future, the body is always right here, right now. Thus, zazen begins with the body practicing an upright and attentive posture.

And although at first glance the kōan may seem like an unsolvable intellectual paradox, it is in fact a tool used to cut into and then break through the egos intellectual barrier so as to breakup all preconceived notions of intellectual superiority which maybe preventing the student from perceiving the true nature awareness. What is the Sound of One Hand Clapping? The Sound of One Hand Clapping is a Japanese Zen kōan given to novices starting Zen training, the novice contemplates the meaning of the riddle, and the nature of the answer is intended to invoke a paradigm shift in the novices understanding of Zen.

Hello, Jason Cain hear and welcome to the Ancient wisdom modern mind Blog and today I want to share with you the concept of impeccability. At its core the concept of impeccability has as its guiding principle the idea of non-attachment, but this is not the traditional idea of detaching or unattaching from objects or material things. Impeccability is referring to the non-attachment of self from self’s human agreement. (See also related post (The Human Agreement). One could say that to act impeccability, is essentially an act of detaching from your own point of view, a complete and impartial devotion to an awareness that questions all of societies social agreements. ► Download the Podcast by following the link @ https://gum.co/tiosaPodcast ► You can read the Blog version @ The Impeccability of Stalking Awareness ► YouTube Version ========================================================= For more great content or Support me by following me on Gum Roads https://gumroad.com/jasoncain
