Awakened awareness is not about special experiences – it is about recognising the simplest form of conscious experience that is available to everyone. Joko called it “Simple Mind”, Shunryu Suzuki called it “Beginners Mind” or we could simply call it awareness of awareness or “Pure Awareness”. We could say that the purpose of meditation, both silent and guided, is the process of dis-identifying from the suffering that is generated by identifying as a personal separate self with the flow of impermanent, interdependent phenomena and recognising and returning to our home base of Simple Mind. He also goes into some of the historical origins of the term that illuminate its meaning and offers tools for how to work with it to ask wise questions about our experience in both meditation and everyday life. Projectors- the world needs your wisdom codes, your creativity, your guidance, your prophecy! Even if you feel like a beginner. Even if you feel brand new to what it is you're sharing. It's time to get yourself out there. One of the ways you can start to gently step into the pool of sharing your magic is by asking questions. In asking questions, you start to draw the right people to you. In asking questions, you see who is not healthy for you. In asking questions, you get to hear the answers from your guides, your allies and your spiritual support team. In this episode we're talking about the power of a beginners mind. Why it's important we start where we are, and how our vulnerability in sharing the process; supports others to follow their own dreams to begin too. We talk a little more about the Projector aura, the invisibility cloak as our super power, and how we are naturally going to draw in the right people for us. This was a simple (or is it?) episode today. An encouragement to keep showing up to your magic, and sharing your beautiful wisdom with the world!

She trained for seven and a half years as a Buddhist monk at a silent Zen monastery and has taught engaged dharma for over 20 years. Welcome to ordinary people who do extraordinary things. My name is Paul Childs. I've been an entrepreneur my whole life. I ran four companies, founded and investment bank, chaired CEO peer groups and have been a speaker on leadership for the last 15 years. This show is for business owners, CEOs, high-performing entrepreneurs, and leaders who need to influence a team. If this is you, you know there's nobody above you to ask for help. And everyone below you, thinks you know everything. Leadership is not just what goes on outside yourself: It is also what goes on inside: your belief models, and the mind structs and constructs that alter your interpretation of reality. Including those dark little nasty corners of your shadow side where you believe that you and everything just sucks. This is show is about business and life, about learning to lead from your own powerful place. Having a beginners mind not clouded by prejudgments, preconceptions or assumptions. communicate to others in their language and not your own, and you will see most people do have good intentions, even if they're not your intentions. And they're struggling just like you. This will require a lot of compassion. Most of all, Self-compassion. You may feel like an ordinary person, until you do something extraordinary. Welcome to Ordinary people who do extraordinary things. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/paulchilds1/message

In this episode, we three maidens swap nuggets and pearls of wisdom about "Fun/Play", including what ACTUALLY constitutes fun, what it means to "be fun" versus "have fun", our inner children, how hard it can be to allow ourselves to carve out time for fun, playfulness in art, how professionalism can kill play, and more. No research was done for this episode, just our lived experience. Give it a listen, and then head over to Instagram: @unmaidenlypodcast to share with us what wisdom you have surrounding fun and play!
What is beginner's mind? It's dropping our expectations and preconceived ideas about something, and seeing things with an open mind, fresh eyes, just like a beginner. If you've ever learned something new, you can remember what that's like: you're probably confused, because you don't know how to do whatever you're learning, but you're also looking at everything as if it's brand new, perhaps with curiosity and wonder. In this unscripted/unedited podcast episode, Jane explores the experience of grief from a beginners mind, and what this tells us about learning in adulthood.

We're back with the two-segment format today! In the first segment, I talk about a few videos over the past couple of weeks that have gone viral on Tik Tok after I almost pulled the plug on the whole thing. This becomes an opportunity to sense into the resistance of doing something new - and to sense into the very feeling of the resistance we experience. And it also becomes an opportunity to recognize the beginner's mind. That is, there are always vast portions of our experience that include what we don't know we don't know. I hope you enjoy the episode!
Sufjan Stevens is one of the most prolific songwriters working today, and it feels as though his drive to write songs is as much about the creation of music, as it is the understanding of creativity itself, and finding different ways to explore it. He first heard Angelo De Augustine a few years ago, and when you hear Angelo's voice you'll understand why Suf signed him to his label. And why they decided to make an album together. A Beginner's Mind is a record inspired and created by a few forces. Sufjan and Angelo holed up in a cabin in upstate New York to write it. They would watch old movies at night; classics like Point Break, She's Gotta Have It, Silence of the Lambs, even Bring It On Again. Then they'd use these stories to write their own. But they also threw in the I Ching, and a Zen Buddhist principle of Shoshin, or A Beginner's Mind. What's come out of it is a beautiful collection of songs, and the inspiration behind my Take 5 theme of Absolute Beginners. From an epic recording of Nina Simone, to the short and surreal world of Ivor Cutler, and the incredible world of Prince, this is a beautiful journey with two absolute angels. Judy Garland - 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' Prince - 'The Ballad of Dorothy Parker' Nina Simone - 'My Sweet Lord / Today Is A Killer' Ivor Cutler - 'Sharks' Beverly Glenn-Copeland - 'Ever New'
