In honor of First-Gen Empowering Connections on Wednesday, February 19th, check out this week's Career Chat episode featuring Andres Morales, where he shares insights on navigating the challenges of being a first-generation student. Andres, a holistic financial planner, is building his practice from the ground up. He has personally shattered generational barriers as the first college graduate from Rutgers, majoring in Economics. Andres has also earned a master's degree. Andres's next ambition is to break the cycle of poverty and build generational wealth!

Listen in on this week's episode of Career Chat with Kim Kuhlman as she discusses the importance of time-management and more importantly self-maintenance in college. Kim is the 5th generation in her family to become an educator! Her experience as a reading specialist and interest in psychology gave her unique tools as a coach in the Academic Success Center. She also helps students with time-management, note-taking skills, and test-taking skills.

Listen in as this week's guest, Brynnlee Pavlovich ‘17, discusses the importance of proper communication techniques especially via email. She received her Bachelor's degree in Clinical/counseling Psychology, with a minor in Educational Studies at DeSales University. Throughout her career journey after DeSales, Brynnlee has had experience with receiving good emails, bad emails, and most importantly how to respond to them. Now, Brynnlee has returned back to the place she used to call home as the Assistant Director of Experiential Learning and Internships at the Career Development Center.

Jenn Bard recently graduated from DeSales University's Higher Ed master's program. During her time at DeSales she was also a graduate assistant at the Career Development Center. Now, she has a job at Moravian as a Career Strategist.

On this episode of Career Chat, we talk to Yuliya Semenovych. She was born in Lviv, Ukraine, and came to the United States when she was only 7 years old. Today she is the owner of Elixir Health and Wellness in Bethlehem, PA. She made a bucket list when she was 20 years old and attending Hofstra University, when she decided to start traveling. She found work, friends, fun, and a safe place to live - and got better at doing so as she went. She came back to the Lehigh Valley 5 years ago but has yet to stop traveling. Tune in to hear about her experiences as she checks off her bucket list!

Check out this week's episode of Career Chat as Allison McCausland '19 talks about how to navigate being a young professional and effectively taking opportunities during college. During her time at DeSales, she obtained her BA in History and her MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing. Now, Allison is the Assistant Director of Tutoring Services and Applications at the Academic Success Center. She has taken advantage of all of the great opportunities she got and they have lead to where she is now!

On this episode of Career Chat, Kristy Valladares, a graduate of Muhlenberg College, talks about how it is okay to not have a "straight-lined" career path. After graduating, Kristy worked in a variety of industries, leading and developing both teams and individuals. Now, Kristy is the Assistant Director of Career Education and Engagement at the Career Development Center.

At the start of the pandemic, Vinny dove headfirst into the world of DEI when his team was isolated more than ever. Now, his focus is to build and maintain a feeling of community and belonging both internally for Wambi employees and externally for Wambi's clients!

This week's Career Chat episode features Jesus Delgado, a current DeSales junior double-majoring in Law and Society and Homeland Security and minoring in Psychology. He is a second-year Career Ambassador and is involved in many groups throughout campus, such as in being the Senator for Diversity and Inclusion for the Student Government Association, the Staff Editor for the "News & Feature" column for The DeSales Messenger, and the Vice-President for the St. Thomas More Pre-Law society. He is currently interning with the local Allentown office for Homeland Security Investigations in order to gain more experience in the homeland security field.

This week's Career Chat episode features 2020 alum Kayla Vaught, DeSales University Graduate from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She got her undergraduate degree in Media Studies, and minored in both Business and Communications.
