In this episode of the Crop Doctors' Podcast, Jason, Tom, and Bobby Golden discuss tassel nitrogen fertilizer applications in corn and how growers can maximize the value of late-season nitrogen. They cover ideal timings for tassel applications and how much flexibility exists when weather or logistics delay treatments. They also explore nitrogen use efficiency considerations, including how environmental conditions influence nitrogen availability and uptake. Finally, the conversation highlights the role of NBPT urease inhibitors in reducing nitrogen losses and protecting fertilizer investments when surface-applied urea is used. https://extension.msstate.edu/shows/mississippi-crop-situation
Commencement season is here, and while we all love the tradition, let's be honest: a lot of graduation ceremonies are still operationally stuck in the 18th century. This week, Chase Rigby, CEO of Tassel, joins Mike Palmer to talk about what it actually takes to modernize the final milestone of the student lifecycle. Chase shares his path from teaching seventh-grade math and science with Teach For America to working as a product manager at Google, before ultimately using a search fund model to acquire Marching Order and evolve it into Tassel. We dig into why forward-thinking colleges are moving away from treating graduation as just a logistical headache and starting to view it as a strategic marketing and recruitment engine. Chase explains how Tassel is trying to upend the traditional business model by moving away from nickel-and-diming students with steep fees for their own achievement, and instead leveraging community gifting platforms that put money back in their pockets for rent or student debt. We also get into the tech side of things, discussing how they train AI models on a 20-year phonetic database to get broadcast-quality name pronunciations on stage, all while navigating the strict landscape of biometric privacy and user consent. It turns out getting that final touchpoint right pays massive dividends for lifelong alumni relations. Episode Timestamps: 00:00 - Chase's journey from Teach For America to product management at Google. 03:00 - Running a search fund and finding the graduation space with Marching Order. 05:30 - Shifting mindsets: Treating commencement as a strategic marketing and alumni recruitment tool. 09:00 - Turning graduation into a net-positive financial event for students via gifting. 12:30 - Blending digital software with real life to provide free graduation photos. 18:30 - How Tassel uses a 20-year phonetic database and AI to nail name pronunciation on stage. 21:30 - Tackling biometric privacy, user consent, and BIPA compliance. 28:30 - Scaling campus software point solutions and trends in the lower middle market. 32:30 - Final takeaways, looking out for Tassel at upcoming ceremonies, and closing shots. We are living in a time of unprecedented UFO or UAP activity, but what did the visitors tell us decades ago? Chad Meek returns to the TruthSeekah podcast to discuss the prophecies given to his family at Giant Rock. According to Chad, the Space Brothers didn't just come to show off their crafts; they came with a warning about our technological path and the potential for a global awakening. We explore the transition from the era of Alien Abduction to the era of conscious cooperation. Chad details his own experiences as an Experiencer, revealing how these Extraterrestrial encounters prepared him for the current state of UFO Disclosure. Is the Government staging a "false flag" threat to hide the benevolent nature of our visitors? Chad shares controversial insights into the Abduction Phenomenon, suggesting that many "frightening" encounters are actually screen memories designed to protect the human psyche from the raw power of Interdimensional reality. We look at the legacy of George Van Tassel and how the Integratron was intended to be a beacon for this upcoming world shift. Chad's perspective is a radical departure from the fearful headlines of today, offering a spiritual and hopeful outlook on Alien Contact. We discuss the role of Giant Rock as a planetary energy center and how listeners can tune into the frequencies of the Space Brothers for their own personal evolution. Tassel wrap was a problem experienced in many Midwest cornfields this season. Corn tassels became tightly wrapped within the plant's upper leaves, interfering with pollination and potentially reducing yield. In this episode of Managing for Profit, Jeff Sernett, agronomy solutions lead with Bayer Crop Science and an experienced corn breeder, says preventing the problem must begin in the corn breeding process.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
In this mashup episode, we're presenting our first two guests from the 2025 IANA Intermodal Expo, Kristy Knichel of Knichel Logistics and Gary Van Tassel of INFORM GmbH! Kristy shares the strategies behind running a non-asset-based intermodal company, how customer retention, flexibility in equipment, and strong carrier relationships gave them an edge during the COVID equipment shortages, and why events like the IANA Conference are critical for long-term business development. Gary talks about how automation, AI, and cybersecurity are shaping the future of supply chain efficiency and security! About Kristy Knichel Meet Kristy Knichel, the heart and brains behind Knichel Logistics and a proud Pittsburgh native. She didn't just inherit the logistics torch from her father; she turned it into a blazing success story. Taking the helm as president in 2007 was more than a title shift; it was a game-changer. Since becoming president, Kristy's been playing logistics Jenga, stacking up growth year after year. Kristy's success in growing Knichel Logistics can be attributed to her strategic decision-making and ability to identify expansion opportunities, such as adding OTR, LTL, and specialty services, as well as a slew of technological advancements to boost efficiency. Through her leadership, Kristy has not only tripled the business but also solidified Knichel Logistics' reputation as a top player in the IMC community. Kristy has quite a few awards and accolades under her belt. Check out some of her most recent accomplishments, including the 2022 Women in Supply Chain Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive, the 2022 Top Woman-Owned Companies in Transportation Award from Women in Trucking, and being the Intermodal Logistics Conference Chair on the TIA Board of Directors from 2019 to 2023. And get this: Kristy's the only woman to receive the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year award for the East Central Region in 2022! Today, Kristy's focus is to elevate Knichel Logistics to new heights through strategic development. She's dedicated to providing her team with opportunities for growth and self-improvement. When Kristy isn't busy conquering the business world as well as being a devoted mom to Brayden and wife to Jason, she's rooting for the Steelers or embarking on a camping adventure with her loved ones. What if the antidote to our frantic, hyper-scheduled lives is a single pot of herbs on the back step? In this deeply honest conversation, returning guest Bailey Van Tassel shares how planting one container cracked open a new way of living—rewiring how she mothers, works, and measures “success.” We talk about the joy of learning again as an adult, the “just-enoughness” a garden offers in every season, and why kids (and parents) come alive when we co-create with nature. You'll hear the city-to-soil story behind Bailey's new book Kitchen Garden Living, and the surprising ways a messy bed of flowers can mirror a beautiful, resilient family life. Listen and let your shoulders drop. Then we get practical: pollinator borders that invite life, trap crops that protect your veggies, companion planting that keeps pests in check, trellises and hoops that make space, and Bailey's simple “poker planting” method so you know what to grow, where, and how much. We also swap soul-feeding ideas—family foraging maps, pressed-flower pasta, homegrown teas and salves—and make the case to start small today. Follow Bailey and explore her resources at baileyvantassel.com. Listen in and then share this one with a friend who's craving a gentler pace—and maybe a tomato that tastes like summer. We're counting down the days until the publication of The Hallmarked Man! Nick Jeffery and John Granger take perhaps the last look at Rowling's most recent postings before they dive into discussion about the meaning and artistry of Strike8.In today's conversation, they review Rowling's relationship with Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight series, a New York Times feature article ‘The Wizard's Everlasting Spell' about the growth of Potter fan fiction with a romantic twist, and Rowling's acerbic review of Nikola Sturgeon's memoir Frankly. Nick and John discuss along the way the initial response of cultural gatekeepers to the quality of the writing in Harry Potter, the history of Rowling's relationship with the writers of romantic fan fiction using her characters in light of Fifty Shades of Gray, and Hogwarts Professor's role in making ‘Rowling Studies' legitimate and the culture-wide acceptance of Rowling as a writer of merit “something we've always known” rather than a controversial assertion. And what does all that have to do with the imminent release of Hallmarked Man? Nick and John share their more-than-tentative plans for reading Strike8 and the best way — not the only way, of course, but a much better way than, say, cataloging predictions everyone will forget by mid-September — to prepare for our first reading of an epic Rowling-Galbraith title. We hope you are as excited as we are to the advent of Hallmarked Man and that you're looking forward to exploration of its breadth and depth beneath the surface plot with us in the coming month!Links To Subjects Discussed Above:The Wizard's Everlasting Spell Why Magic, Dragons and Explicit Sex Are in Bookstores Everywhere: Romantasy is propping up the fiction market. Thanks to a generation that grew up reading about a boy wizard. (The New York Times, 20 August 2025, Alexandra Alter)The new version of the [‘Dramione' Potter fan fiction] story that so captivated Ms. Stallone will soon be released as “Alchemised,” and the novel's publisher, Del Rey, is betting that the feverish devotion to its fanfiction predecessor will translate into blockbuster sales. Del Rey has ordered a first printing of 750,000 copies for the novel's release in late September; translations are lined up in 21 languages.Besides appealing to hordes of existing fans, “Alchemised” has another advantage: It taps into the raging appetite for romantasy, a subgenre that blends fantasy elements like magic, fairies and dragons with love, yearning and explicit sex.In a way, the romantasy explosion — driven by the success of blockbuster authors like Sarah J. Maas and Rebecca Yarros, whose series have sold millions upon millions of copies — stems from the legacy of popular young adult series like “Twilight” and “Harry Potter.” Those books molded generations of young readers who have grown up but still crave big fantasy novels — now with a dose of erotica.“They grew up with the characters, and the stories ended, but there's still such a huge appetite,” said Leah Hultenschmidt, publisher of the romance imprint Forever. “They're still hungry for that magical world building, an epic cast of characters and heroism, and maybe they just want it a little spicier.”Publishers are frantically searching for the next breakout romantasy series. Last year, romantasy sales topped more than 32 million copies in print alone, a 47 percent jump over the previous year, according to Circana Bookscan. Five of the 10 best-selling adult fiction titles this year are romantasies. At the same time, adult fiction sales overall have stagnated. The kind of romance that's selling like crazy now — erotically charged genre mash-ups — first took off in fanfiction before publishers recognized there was an appetite for it.“For a long time, you had to go to fanfiction to find that,” said Anne Jamison, a professor of English at the University of Utah who has studied fanfiction. “Romantasy basically is what fanfiction made.”* Alchemized Sen Lin Yu* ‘Romantasy' Novels on Amazon, Etc.The twilight of Nicola Sturgeon: J.K. Rowling reviews FranklyI know I'm stating the obvious, and I'll probably be one of countless reviewers making the same point, but it's impossible to read Nicola Sturgeon's memoir without remembering the smash hit fictional franchise, Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. For those who don't know (ie, everyone who wasn't a tween or teenage girl, or living with one, 2005-2015), Twilight was massively popular for roughly a decade, each new book or film being greeted adoringly by its devoted fans. You had plenty of time to get it right, didn't you, Elizabeth? I don't retract a word. That is a fact.* Hobart's Sin, Owen Quine's first and best novel, the “Key” to Tassel's Bombyx Mori, the “book within a book:” “The plot of Hobart's Sin turns on Hobart, who's both male and female, having to choose between parenthood and abandoning his aspirations as a writer: aborting his baby, or abandoning his brainchild” (229)* “It's all about a hermaphrodite who's pregnant and gets an abortion because a kid would interfere with his literary ambitions” (242)* Rowling about The Silkworm: It is the Story that Inspired the Series, the Lake OriginActually, the plot for Silkworm predated the plot for Cuckoo's Calling. I'd had the idea for that plot, the book within the book, for seven or eight years before I wrote it. That often happens with me, I have an idea and I keep it and sit on it. But I keep it and I play with it like a Rubik's cube and there'll come a point where everything clicks and it's ready to be written. I have a lot of notebooks filled with these kinds of things. This season has brought one of the most puzzling problems in corn production, the tight tassel wrap. Tight tassel wrap is an uncommon phenomenon that occurs when the uppermost leaves refuse to unfurl, keeping the tassel trapped and preventing pollination. The result? Pollination problems that can quietly reduce your yields, even in fields that look picture-perfect from afar. Tune in as Mike Howell sits down with Dr. Dan Quinn, Purdue University's extension corn specialist, to explore this new challenge and the importance of getting timing and synchrony right throughout corn production. They break down how corn pollinates, how pollen travels from tassel shed to silks to fertilize ovules and why the short pollination window is so vulnerable to stress. You'll hear about how environmental changes and hybrid traits can create this problem and what to look for when scouting your fields. Looking for the latest in crop nutrition research? At the beginning of the year, I asked you think about why you garden. Whether it's a hobby, our family's main source of food, or anything in between, I maintain that understanding why you garden is really important to planning the garden and defining a budget. But, what about the garden being more than just a source of food, exercise, or a connection to nature. What if it were something more? That's the question that Bailey Van Tassel has asked and answered. Bailey is the founder of the Kitchen Garden Society and author of the recently released book, Kitchen Garden Living. She has taken an approach to gardening that is not just seasonal in nature but all-encompassing in its seasonality, growing not just food but friendships, gifts, and time with family.Today on Just Grow Something, I sit down with Bailey and chat all things kitchen garden, flavor gaps, winter bulk, and moving a garden from one climate to another. We also get into her book and her unique way of determining exactly what gets prioritized in her garden beds using playing cards and the game of Poker. Old Tassel, a prominent figure among the Overhill Cherokee, was a staunch advocate for peace during a period of conflict between them and the settlers moving into East Tennessee. Despite his efforts to forge treaties and maintain peace and harmony between the two groups, the rise of tensions ultimately led to tragedy for both. The killing of the Kirk family by Cherokee warriors led to revenge at the site of a meeting called to discuss peace. George van Tassel was the original UFO contactee. He claimed to have been visited by aliens from Venus in 1953, which led to him hosting thousands of people at the annual Interplanetary Spacecraft Convention for almost 20 years. He channeled “Ashtar, ”a figure still popular in “Galactic Federation” conspiritualist circles today, and spent 25 years building a time machine based on telepathic communications with aliens. Julian unpacks the wild story of van Tassel's airstrip, the Mojave Desert's Giant Rock, and how the FBI may have been involved in his mysterious death and subsequent disappearance of his cellular rejuvenation equipment. This is part of a series of free-standing episodes that excavates the history of pseudoscience and conspiracism beneath contemporary New Age spirituality. Learn more about your ad choices. In August 1953, airstrip operator George van Tassel claimed he was woken up in the middle of the night by an intelligent lifeform from outer space named Solganda. George says Solganda told him to build an energy rejuvenation machine – so that's exactly what he spent the rest of his life doing…For more information on visiting the Integratron check out their website. Plus, take a look at some photos from one of George van Tassel's UFO conventions. If you want to learn more, George tells his version of the “encounter with Solganda” in a 1964 interview.
Our Guest: Lucie Tassel--Lucie Tassel is an artist with ' experience, and a completely atypical background.-Being French, she naturally made her debut in Paris, where she is originally from. Under the direction of Ned Grujic, she played the role of Helen Sinclair in Bullets Over Broadway and was part of the On The Town and Godspell ensembles at the Théâtre des Variétés in Paris. She also played the role of Poncia in Federico García Lorca's play The House of Bernarda Alba at the Théâtre de La Nouvelle Athènes, directed by Guillaume Bouchède. She was also a member of the chorus of the symphony orchestra accompanying Joe Hisaishi on his last tour of France, and the singers of the Chœur à l'horizon, a Paris-based professional chorus specializing in the musical theatre repertoire, created and directed by Nima Santonja. In 2024, she played the lead role of Della in Sneaky Pete's Wild West Dinner Show at the Legacy Dinner Theatre in Wisconsin, USA. She is also the producer and artistic director of the A-Broad'way Cabaret, in collaboration with Kendra McBride as musical director, which opens this November at Green Room 42 in New York City, and in which she will sing alongside other international artists.-Lucie is a graduate of ECM in Paris, a musical comedy school run by Ned Grujic and Véronique Fruchart, where she trained for 3 years in singing (vocal technique, polyphony, musicianship), dance (classical, jazz, tap), theater (classical, contemporary, mime, clowning) and stage combat (swords, batons). —She also trained in cartoon voice-over with Edwige Chandelier. —To complete her professional training, she moved to New York to study at AMDA, the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, where she benefited from American expertise, honing her skills in singing, dancing and acting.A sportswoman from an early age, she has a passion for salsa and other Latin dances, and enjoys a wide range of disciplines including tennis (her specialty), climbing, skiing, horse-riding and rollerblading. Lucie's career path is atypical: after obtaining her Master's degree in physical and nutritional rehabilitation, she worked as an elementary school teacher in Paris for 5 years before devoting herself fully to the performing arts. Trilingual French-Spanish-English, she is also a traveler who, after visiting several countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America, fell in love with Venezuela, a country that really helped her grow emotionally and from which she has learned an enormous amount. All these trips, and the people she met along the way, opened her heart and mind, bringing to light what she dared not admit but secretly dreamed of: being an artist.----Join the conversation LiveChat as we raise the questions, give our opinions , and ask you the same questions... --Live Chat with Us Every week... -----Music: Audio Podcast : by Daniel Howse : www.youtube.com/ProfessorSoraMusic ** OneMicNite Theme Song "Chance" & Background Song "Kanye" Host:--Contact/ Follow Marcos on IG/Fb/IMdb/Twitter/TikTok: @MarcosLuis —Show: OneMicNite Podcast with Marcos Luis *Contact/Follow: IG/Fb/Twitter/Tumbler/LinkedIn/Youtube/TikTok @OneMicNite www.OneMicnite.com - - ** Listen to Audio Podcast: Available wherever you download , all digital platforms.. ** Support Us Now: http:www.Anchor.fm/onemicnitetalk ---Follow/Contact -- The Show: All Social Media Fb/Ig/Twitter/Tumbler/TikTok/ *** watch the episodes on Youtube @OneMicNite & www.OneMicNite.com****Please Support this Podcast: PayPal/ Zell Pay: MarcosStarActor@gmail.com Venmo @ Marcoso-Luis-1 CashApp : $MarcosLuis1 Please Visit: The AzulesEn Online store to find Products that Compliment your Lifestyle: Link : https://azulesen.myshopify.com/products/onemicnite-signature-logo-unisex-talk-live-pod-tee --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onemicnite/support
The Ancient Greek concept of Daimon leads us to the genius, and later to the Guardian Angel, and as of today Spirit Guides. The work of Plato, from an amnesiac soul to its self-realized spiritual ascension, is today spoken about in the form of star seeds and ascension mysteries. Helana Blavatsky's channeling of the ‘mysterious Indian', known as Moray, along with Koot Humi, and Alice Bailey's channeling of Djwal Khul, have taken us to the channeling of Ashtar by George van Tassel, or the various contacts made by Aleister Crowley of Lam, Aiwass, and the Red Lady, and further of every person today with a cell phone camera who channels interdimensional aliens. Crowley also famously ripped off the Golden Dawn society and then profited from its exploitation, commercializing his new product while promoting self-indulgence - instead of sacrifice - the killing of all old gods, and the placement of the self above all else. Considering his work with British intelligence it is curious how his conceptions of new age religion are also found within the post-modernist progressive movements of today. In fact, theosophists like CW Leadbeater, who showed young boys how to masturbate, Anna Kingsford, a huge woman's right activist, engaged in magical murder, claiming to be a psychic killer, and both Edward Maitland and Samuel Mathers, who advocated for a vegetarian diet and animal rights, all pushed the very foundational elements of modern progressivism and new age magic, even if by mere accident or misunderstanding. Contemporary frauds like David Wilcock advocate for the abolishment of due process of law, saying we should lock away all bad actors who will be defined by secret sources. And the outrageous science-fiction claims of Corey Goode have set back legitimately spiritual conversations and ufological investigation by maybe decades. From Paul Benowitz being driven mad by the military and intelligence community with fake alien stories, to Robert Short stealing George's Ashtar Command for commercialized sell, to the exploitation of naive and vulnerable frauds like Jordan Sather or senile frauds like Pete Peterson, we have seen the building of a DARK FLEET SPHERE BEING ALLIANCE OF BLUE CHICKENS AND SECRET SPACE PROGRAM SUPER SOLDIERS, a.k.a., the SDSSP, Super Duper Secret Space Program. -FULL ARCHIVE & RSS: https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-secret-teachings Twitter: https://twitter.com/TST___Radio Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thesecretteachings WEBSITE (BOOKS, RESUBSCRIBE for early & ad-free show access): http://thesecretteachings.info Paypal: rdgable@yahoo.com CashApp: $rdgable EMAIL: rdgable@yahoo.com / TSTRadio@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-secret-teachings-with-ryan-gable--5328407/support.
