This episode of the podcast is with none other than Jake Smith. Jake is one of the most talented distance runners in the UK right now and holds the British record for the under 23 Half Marathon. Jake grew up in Hong Kong which is known for its immense heat and dense population. Jake used to train on a treadmill and was limited to just one hour of training outside a day. It was in Hong Kong that his the ability to cope with mileage came from and this has developed in recent years under the guidance of James Thie in Cardiff. Jake is surrounded by a fantastic group of athletes who constantly push him to the next goal.It was great to catch up with Jake especially as I thoroughly enjoyed following his journey up to this point. This was a win that rewarded Phil with a 50% share of a £1500 prize pot. I was so excited to talk to him as what I already knew about his story was inspiring. In this episode, Jonny has put his cards on the table and states hes going to win the 5000m event and Mark is looking to make the Steeplechase event a true race.
