“This is the moment I've been training three years for. There's been three years of a lot of hard work and hard times to get to this. This is the thing in my mind, that dream and goal that's kept me going. Once I put that into perspective, it was a lot easier to ride that wave of momentum into Worlds.”About two months after we caught up with Sage Hurta-Klecker after making her first U.S. team, she's back on the CITIUS MAG Podcast to recap her experience at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo. Sage made it count. After sneaking into the 800m final as the last qualifier, she unleashed a fearless performance, dropping nearly two full seconds off her PB to finish fifth in the final in 1:55.89. This made her the third fastest American of all-time and now sits behind legends like Athing Mu and Ajee Wilson. She's finishing the year with 12 outdoor 800s and 12 sub-two performances. Sage proved that she belongs among the very best in the world and you'll hear in this episode that the 800m is where she's planning to stay for the time being. This was a fun one. We go through all of her experiences from training to the time in between races and how her mindset shifted throughout the rounds. I love doing these recaps and Sage is an open book with all of it, including the training. She's actually asking for more people to take notice of her on Strava, so go ahead and hit her with a follow there. ____________Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on InstagramGuest: Sage Hurta-Klecker | @hurtasage on InstagramProduced by: Jasmine Fehr | @jasminefehr on Instagram____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Straight out of Bikini Bottom, Olipop's limited edition SpongeBob cans have arrived. A tactically intriguing race with so many potential plays didn't really deliver on its promise, as Chebet once again produced an unrivalled sprint finish after a fairly bland race to claim a World Champs double to go with her Paris titles. The men's 800m produced arguably the best race of the Champs so far, as Kenya's Emmanuel Wanyonyi, led from the front, and dragged 7 others to historically fast times, with three going under 1:42, and all 8 breaking 1:43. We also look at relay qualification carnage, where the USA, Jamaica, South Africa and GB failed to finish or were eliminated in one of either the 4 x 100m or 4 x 400m heats. We also cover the field event medals, and look ahead to the final day.

“The other part is that he loves it. He doesn't miss. A ton of people are—to be cliche—talented, but they don't do the things to maximize their talent. So how is he there? Because he's doing everything to at least give him the chance to maximize his talent. Do we know it's going to be 1:42? No, we don't know that. We have no clue what it is… He's doing the things it takes to see how good he can be—and he loves finding out what that looks like.”My guest for today's episode is Chris Capeau, the coach behind one of the most remarkable performances in American track history. As the head distance coach at Northwest High School in Texas, Capeau found success with his middle distance programs. Even before that at other Texas high schools, he was a bit of a journeyman in coaching at various universities and learning from other accomplished coaches in the sport. But this summer, the spotlight found him after 16-year-old Cooper Lutkenhaus stunned the track world with a 1:42.27 in the men's 800m at the U.S. Championships. That time was a three second PR, a new U18 world record, the fastest time ever run by a high schooler, and the fourth fastest time by an American ever. More than that, it earned Lutkenhaus a spot on Team USA for the World Championships in Tokyo, making him the youngest man in history to compete at a global outdoor championships. It was a moment that defied logic, but it didn't happen by accident.Capeau has been building upon a strong foundation established by Cooper's parents. A former NAIA marathon standout and collegiate coach with deep experience in building programs, Capeau brings a thoughtful athlete-centered approach that prioritizes trust, patience, and long term development. That philosophy has now helped produce a once in a generation talent and has rewritten what we thought was possible for high school middle distance running. This conversation pairs well with our previous episode with Cooper. You can find it here. In this one, we try to make even more sense of the performance by speaking to the man who worked on making it happen day in and day out._____________Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on InstagramGuest: Coach Chris CapeauProduced by: Jasmine Fehr | @jasminefehr on InstagramMentioned in this episode…Listen: Cooper Lutkenhaus Breaks Down His 1:42.27 800m At 16 Years Old To Make History, Qualifies For The 2025 World Championships + Goals For TokyoWatch: USATF Championships Men's 800m final_____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Straight out of Bikini Bottom, Olipop's limited edition SpongeBob cans have arrived. I was like, ‘I have a shot now.'”My guest for today's episode is Cooper Lutkenhaus, the 16-year-old Texan who just ran one of the most astonishing races in American track and field history at the U.S. Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Cooper placed second in the men's 800m in 1:42.27 — a U18 world record, a three second personal best, and the fourth fastest time ever run by an American. He finished just behind Donovan Brazier, the former world champion who made his own remarkable comeback. Cooper was in 7th place with 150m to go. He stayed calm, executed his race plan, and closed in a blistering 12.48 seconds over the final 100m, surging into second and nearly catching Donovan Brazier at the finish line. This was a performance that defied age, experience, and expectations, and announced Cooper as the future of American middle distance running. In this episode, we get into it and try to answer the main question: how did this happen and who is Cooper? It wasn't just a great race for a high schooler; it was a great race, period._____________Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on InstagramGuest: Cooper Lutkenhaus | @cooper.lutkenhaus on InstagramProduced by: Jasmine Fehr | @jasminefehr on InstagramMentioned in this episode…Watch: USATF Championships Men's 800m final_____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Straight out of Bikini Bottom, Olipop's limited edition SpongeBob cans have arrived. Heading into yesterday's U.S. 100-meter finals, Kenny Bednarek and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden were already among the best in the world at what they do.And then they got better. Both Bednarek and Jefferson-Wooden are Olympic medalists and U.S. leaders in the sprint events, and both athletes have been running fast all year. In the 100m finals, however, they ascended to a new level, one everyone knew they were capable of, but was still fantastically impressive to watch come to fruition.Bednarek picked up the first U.S. title of his career — despite being a two-time Olympic medalist, he's heretofore always been overshadowed by the Noah Lyleses and Christian Colemans of the world. But not today: Today was Kenny's day. He decisively dispatched an extraordinarily strong field and clocked the first wind-legal sub-9.80 of his career with a 9.79 victory, leading a field where the top five finishers ran under 9.90.Jefferson-Wooden continued doing what she's done all year: win. But despite consistently beating the competition, Melissa has been plagued by unhelpful winds all year — either over the legal limit for a tailwind, or blowing in her face and slowing her down. Finally, she got favorable race conditions at just the right time, and the results were astonishing: a 10.65 victory, the fifth fastest in history, tying the likes of Shericka Jackson, Marion Jones, and Sha'Carri Richardson on the all-time list.Everywhere you looked, really great athletes were outperforming the past versions of themselves. Eugene may be 50 miles or so from the Pacific Ocean, but Hayward still felt like it was feeling the effects of rising tide in the sport, with Americans in all disciplines are forced to step up their game to new levels just to have a shot at competing with the rest of the world.__________Hosts: Chris Chavez, Eric Jenkins, Aisha Praught-Leer, Paul Hof-Mahoney & Anderson EmeroleProduced by: Mac Fleet & Jasmine Fehr__________Find everything you need to know about the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships here:Listen: Day 1 Recap ShowSubscribe: CITIUS MAG NewsletterRead: Distance preview | Sprints + hurdles preview | Throws + heptathlon preview | Jumps + decathlon preview__________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Olipop is a prebiotic soda that tastes like a throwback to your favorite childhood drinks, but it's loaded with benefits that your body will thank you for. In this episode of The Rainmaking Podcast, host Scott Love speaks with Tony Gray, author of The Business Development Body of Knowledge and founder of the Global Business Development Association, about how professionals can lead with trust in business development. Tony shares a neuroscience-based model of trust built on three pillars: purpose, empathy, and truth. He explains how these elements activate specific brain chemicals—oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin—that foster genuine connection and credibility. Rather than rely on anecdotal tactics, Tony advocates for a scientific, principle-based approach to building long-term business relationships, emphasizing that aligning with a prospect's purpose and being candid—even when it means saying you're not the right fit—can create lasting trust and unexpected referrals. The conversation also explores the differences between empathy and sympathy, how to build the “muscle memory” of candor, and why referrals are the most scalable form of business development. Tony introduces his framework for understanding the full customer journey—from awareness to advocacy—and shows how business development differs from sales or marketing in its exponential impact. With practical guidance and deep insight into human behavior, this episode delivers a compelling case for why professionals must build trust deliberately, not by chance. Prudence Sekgodiso won South Africa's first World Indoor gold when she took the 800 metres title at the 2025 Championships in Nanjing, China. She discusses that victory, and her belief that it will lead to more titles. Prudence also describes wanting to quit the sport in 2021, after a positive test for Covid prevented her from competing at that year's World under-20 Championships. She explains what happened, and who was there for her when she needed support.Growing up, there was no running track in her village – just gravel. The possibility that running could be her career didn't seem like a reality until she moved to Pretoria. Her first national senior title soon followed at the age of just 17.Prudence is coached by Caster Semenya's former coach. She says that what Caster achieved in the sport is an inspiration to her. They also competed together at the World Cross Country Championships where Prudence experienced first-hand how good Semenya was at motivating their team. Prudence takes us back to the last edition of the World Championships. In Budapest in 2023 she experienced the nightmare of falling in the semi-final.She resolved to learn from that set-back as she looked to the Paris Olympic Games. The crowd at the Stade de France was so loud it made her nervous, and she was also aware of the weight of expectation from South Africans who wanted her to do well. Whilst she was prepared physically for the Olympics, she now knows that she wasn't mentally ready. Every goal, every success and every set-back is written down in her notebooks. They're a key part of how Prudence prepares and how she wins. She speaks candidly about how life on the circuit can sometimes be overwhelming, especially when her coach is unable to join her at every Diamond League meet. We discuss the importance of family and how, even if they only see each other a couple of times a year, her mother is a key part of her life. She's the one Prudence always calls pre-race and the person she sends a video of the race to afterwards.Prudence believes she will break Caster Semenya's South African record at some stage, which she knows will take her close to the long-standing 800 metres world record. She's also interested in running more 1500 metres races and might look to double at the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Prudence knows what it means to South Africans to see a black woman after Caster holding the flag high and she knows that the country is proud of her.Image: First placed Prudence Sekgodiso of Team South Africa celebrates winning the Women's 800 Metres final on day three of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 2025 at Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Sports Park on March 23, 2025 in Nanjing, China. This Week: Sometimes research tells us something new, and sometimes it confirms what we thought we already knew. A new study from the Fordham Institute does both, showing that contrary to some popular lines of thinking, experienced teachers do in fact continue to improve their practice well into their 2nd decade of teaching. We also dive into a fascinating story about a teacher in Michigan who is teaching Adulting 101 and 102 to her students. The popular electives take on everything from personal budget and taxes, to tying a tie, to personal relationships and conflict. And this week we try to contain the updates on fascist policy violence coming out of DC to a Fascist Five: Trump withholds $6.2B in K-12 education funding, including more than $800M from CA, Trump moves to ban undocumented students from attending Head Start preschool programs, and Trump takes a temporary L as a federal judge puts a restraining order on the attempt to end birthright citizenship. Welcome back to the Alt Goes Mainstream podcast.Today's episode is with someone who is running the long race — in investing and in running. We sit down with prolific long distance runner, Blue Owl Capital's Ivan Zinn, who has been a pioneer in alternative credit and asset-based finance.Ivan has had a long career in private credit. He started at DLJ before joining Leonard Green & Partners and Highbridge Capital. He then joined HBK before founding pioneering private credit firm Atalaya Capital Management, where he was also the CIO. Ivan and team grew Atalaya to over $10B in AUM from 2006 to 2024 before being acquired by Blue Owl Capital for $450M (and $800M with earnouts). As part of the transaction, Ivan became Managing Director at Blue Owl and is the Head of Alternative Credit, where the firm is now expanding its footprint due to Atalaya's expertise. Ivan is as prolific outside of the office as he is in it — he is a long distance runner, running 100 mile races, and was a NCAA All-American tennis player, which comes as no surprise given the discipline, focus and expertise required to excel at the activities he's done throughout his career in work and sport. He's also a Board member of the USTA Foundation.Ivan and I had a fascinating conversation about the evolution of private credit and the growth of asset-based finance. We discussed:How and why ABF has grown within the private credit ecosystem.ABF's market structure and a “trip down main street.”The potential size of the ABF market. Why moving assets off bank balance sheets can help the financial system. Why private credit is a data rich asset.Where ABF fits in a portfolio. Why consumer credit is potentially misunderstood within private credit. Thanks Ivan for coming on the show to share your wisdom and expertise on private credit and ABF. Good luck to anyone keeping up with you on a long run though! You can also see a recent Q&A with Ivan about private credit and ABF on AGM here.Subscribe to Alt Goes Mainstream to receive the weekly newsletter every Sunday and all of AGM's podcasts.A word from AGM podcast sponsor, Ultimus Fund SolutionsThis episode of Alt Goes Mainstream is brought to you by Ultimus Fund Solutions, a leading full-service fund administrator for asset managers in private and public markets. Back in 2015, Denver voted to extend tourism taxes to pay for the expansion of the National Western Center in order to keep the Stock Show from leaving town. But earlier this month, City Council twice delayed a vote that would release $800 million of that money. They were listening to pushback from community members who say they want the National Western Center Authority to commit $16 million to help mitigate displacement and gentrification. The Authority says they've already offered plenty of community benefits. So ahead of council's final deliberation on the issue on Monday, host Bree Davies is sitting down with both sides — first, Steve Nalley is chief real estate officer of the National Western Center and second, Alfonso Espino from the GES Community Investment Fund. We discuss the 2015 vote in this episode quite a bit.
