In this vibrant first episode of Season 3, Lisa and Cristina sit down with Gregson Gastar, a Filipino-Australian hairdresser turned baking luminary. Gregson's lifelong love for baking began at nine years old and evolved alongside his creative passions: hair styling, photography, dancing, and dabbling with flavor-rich recipes inspired by his heritage.Despite his impressive enthusiasm and flair, Gregson found himself the first to leave The Great Australian Bake Off Season 9 during cake week. But the judges and audience weren't left remembering what went wrong; they remembered his “pineapple dance” and the warmth he brought to every whisk and roll. From his early days in the kitchen to his bold leaps into the public eye, Gregson is definitely making his mark, not only with his bakes, but with the joy and authenticity he brings to everything he does.Gregson opens up about the inspirations that shape his flavors, the ways he weaves culture and heritage into his food, and the resilience it takes to keep pursuing your passion even when the journey takes unexpected turns. With warmth, honesty, and his signature “sprinkles and love,” he reminds us that baking is about so much more than what comes out of the oven - it's about connection, courage, and celebration. The witness described a man in his 20s, just shy of six feet tall, with a gaunt face and light-coloured hair. Though uneasy, the passerby—out for a quiet walk along the River Aire—was quickly reassured. The man, standing over a pale woman crumpled in the grass, said she had simply fallen. The man offered his name and explained that he knew where the woman lived. Perhaps out of politeness and a desire not to pry, the witness continued on her journey. Unable to shake the feeling that something was not right, she raised the alarm. This is a fun one! In this special episode of Waypoints, Jim Klug is joined by longtime friends and  industry legends Brian O'Keefe and Bryan Gregson for a lively and insightful conversation that dives deep into the roots and the history of flyfishing. What started as a late-night, beer-fueled conversation at a recent consumer show gathering in Denver quickly turned into a bigger realization: many of today's younger anglers — even those who live and breathe the sport — have little to no knowledge of the icons and pioneers who laid the foundation for modern flyfishing. So, we decided to do something about it.This episode was created as a tribute and a history lesson — a fun, freewheeling discussion that shines a light on 30 legendary figures who helped shape the sport as we know it. From influential authors and pioneering guides to gear innovators, conservationists, and destination fishing trailblazers, this episode covers a wide spectrum of personalities who left an undeniable mark on flyfishing during the 20th century. Whether you're a seasoned angler or newer to the game, this one is both entertaining and educational — a must-listen for anyone who cares about the history, evolution, and culture of our sport.Waypoints is brought to you by PatagoniaTo bring their gear to life, Patagonia is motivated by relentless curiosity and a passion for the wild. If Gen Gregson and husband Ryan could take turns being pregnant, Gen would happily have five kids. But in the absence of this sci-fi parallel universe, the four-time Olympian is extremely excited to be expecting baby number two – a new brother for Archer! This episode is part of a mini-series featuring some of our mighty marathon mums. In this wonderful conversation, Gen opens up about training while pregnant – a lot of what she does is based on feel (and notes in Jess Stenson's training diary). She talks about mum strength allowing her to appreciate what she's already achieved and take the pressure off to do every single one percenter, which helps her run freer and perform at a higher level. We also talk about how she's learnt to be flexible and adapt to adversity. Gen goes into the learnings from her marathons to-date (Gold Coast, Valencia, Paris, Melbourne), what it's like to have two elite athletes chasing big goals under one roof, and how even elite athletes aren't immune from mum guilt. This episode is also dedicated to Jess Stenson, who wins the best supporting actress role in the conversation. (That's what happens when you get two key members of the Jess Stenson appreciation society together on a Zoom call.) -- Gen Gregson is a four-time Olympian (Paris, Tokyo, Rio, London), and has ambitions to go to two more Olympics in her career. Gen started out on the track, earning herself an Australian Record in the 3000m steeplechase (9:14.28). After sustaining a horrific achilles injury clearing the final water jump in the Tokyo Olympics final, Gen had her first child, Archer while rehabbing double achilles surgery. She has since transitioned to the roads, taking to the marathon like a natural, running 2:28 on debut in her hometown of the Gold Coast, before being the fastest Australian across the line in a big head-to-head battle for an Olympic qualifier at Valencia (2:23:08). In 2024, she ran the Olympic Marathon at Paris and won Melbourne Marathon later that year.  -- Gen Gregson's Instagram: @gengen_lacaze Run With It Instagram: @runwithit.pod Elise Beacom's Instagram: @elisebeacom -- Intro/outro music by Dan Beacom Graphic design by Kate Scheer

Back at 221B Baker Street, Holmes and Watson discuss the case. Holmes calls it a very simple case, and Watson is taken aback. Holmes goes on to explain his technique of reverse thinking. Working backwards from the results to arrive at the method. He explains in the Brixton road, he determined several details about the victim and the killer. He then, determined that the murder was a personal one, and not a political one, and the missing wedding ring guaranteed this. Holmes then explains that his telegram to the US gave him all of the other details of the case. Who was involved, and the details of Hope's trip to Europe. Holmes then assumed that the best way to learn a city, and follow someone would be to work as a cabbie, so he employed his street urchins to go to every cab company and ask for a man called hope. Watson urges Holmes to publish his findings to get credit for his brilliant detective skills, but it doesn't really interest him and to make matters worse, the Newspapers are already giving all of the credit to Lestrade and Gregson.

We return to Watson's reminiscence of the tale. A curious cough of suspense hangs in the air as we encounter our prisoner - fierce with resistance, yet not violent towards his captors. His expression of warmth and affability stirs an almost paradoxical interest. Whether it's crafty manipulation or an honest indication of his character, it becomes clear to us, as it did to Watson, that the man's physical stature, determined expression, and raw power may be the formidable adversary that our excellent detective duo needed to encounter. Holmes, with his characteristic observational acuity, sets in motion a series of interactions between the prisoner, himself, and the trio of detectives - Gregson, Lestrade, and Watson. As we find the group on their way to the Police station, we are left to unravel the implications of a startling health revelation, an aortic aneurism pulsating in the chest of our prisoner, the imminence of his death hanging like a shadowy pallor. The prisoner's confessional monologue intertwines a woeful tale of loss, grief, revenge, and a sense of justice imbued with an uncanny sense of eeriness. Throughout this revealing interaction, the tension builds, tightening its grip like a vice around the listener's imagination.

We welcome Chapter 7, where we hear the tale of Stangerson's fate, the man once suspected by Lestrade. As the dance of deduction sways back and forth between Holmes and his companions, we see a careful ballet of words, each movement, each exchange pulling us closer to the elusive truth. In these moments of utmost suspense, we stand at the precipice alongside Gregson, Lestrade, and our narrator – looking out across a vast expanse shrouded in uncertainty, yet beneath our feet are the sharp, jagged edges of a truth unseen. Evidence surfaces, cryptic clues emerge, and gradually, like faint glimmers of light piercing the veil, pieces of the puzzle glint before our eyes, cut and carved by the masterful hand of Sherlock Holmes. Each new revelation, each twist of the tale, layers the narrative, deepening its intensity, and augmenting the suspense that tugs at the seams of our intrigue. So let us traverse this path that weaves its way through darkness and deceit, toward the beacon of clarity in a world cloaked in shadow. May we make the journey together, subtly cajoled by the magnetism of this tale, our minds gleaming with the excitement, the dread, the cold, the revelations in Chapter 7, Light in the Darkness.

A chilly dawn, stained pomegranate and gold, drew back the velvet curtain of the night to reveal the city of London, awakening from its dream-addled sleep. The hush of night remained momentarily even as pale sunlight peppered the cobbled streets, the only turmoil residing in the whispering newspapers, swollen with the Brixton Mystery. The shocking tragedy, a strange cocktail of unusual particulars and inexplicable motives swirled around the unsuspecting city's breakfast tables, each article penned in the ink of anticipation and fear. As the ruby sun spilled over the silent city, casting long shadows upon the faces of damaged buildings and industrious men, whispers of political scandalmongers and the vague, invisible tendrils of insidious revolution, danced provocatively. A shroud of mystery encased the societal constraints, quietly eroding them. Was the lawless outrage a mere symptom of the Liberal Administration or was there more than met the unsuspecting eye? This chapter unveils the enigmatic fog from the murder in the Brixton road, providing new perspectives and possible culprits through the dedicated detective work of Mr. Gregson. His zeal and unwavering determination to illuminate the truth bring forth the fresh scent of justice wafting through the early London morning.Turn your ear to the rustling paper, the ticking timepiece, and the percolating theories as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson unravel the threads of this Brixton line, their amused debate punctuated by the sudden surprise resident at their Baker Street abode. Listen as the stakes rise for Detective Gregson, who shows with unflinching courage what he can indeed do, shedding rays of plausible clarity into the shadowed corners of this gripping affair.Yet, even as the dawn breaks, and secrets spill from trembling lips, the satisfaction of partial revelations is short-lived. The chill of unsettling twists descends upon our protagonists; unease replaces the earlier tranquillity, bringing home, once again, the complex layers of this enigma echoing, surrounding, consuming, and forever deepening the ‘Brixton Mystery'.
