First up is All This Mayhem from 2014 - the insane true story of the Pappas brothers who started on a vert ramp in Prahran in the late 1980's and would eventually become amongst the top ranked skateboarders in the world. Then they move on to 1997's Hands on Hard Body to see who can keep their hand on a pickup truck the longest in a small country town in Texas. Both films come highly recommended and the guys are going to spoil a little bit on each of them so definitely try to check these out before chucking on the episode.

In each movie Robert Mitchum plays an absolute psychopath with varying degrees of quality outfits and unsociable behavior but is never the less as creepy and charming as it gets.     Sad Movies - Grave of the Fireflies and Pig

    This week on the pod Jimmy wanted to discuss some movies that got them a little bit misty eyed, so they cued up the notorious tear jerker Studio Ghibli classic The Grave of the Fireflies. They discuss the qualities of the film that make it so enjoyable despite its heavy theme and reputation for being one of the saddest movies ever. Then they move onto 2021's Pig, which is kind of like John Wick but with a truffle pig instead of a dog. Or is it? Turns out - not at all! One of the things discussed is the initial impression this movie made and how it subverts the audience's expectation in revealing itself as a story about grief and loss. It's also one of Tristan's favourite movies ever. Tear Trigger warning: the guys reference the moment in Forrest Gump where he talks to Jenny's grave. He's so smarht Jennay! :'(

    On this episode the guys open some beers and talk Mortal Kombat - the games and the films from 1995 and 2021. Usually Scorpion is my guy with that cool hook grab move but Jimmy has been teaching us the ways of Sub Zero. Finally I can stop spamming that jump attack and leg sweep. There's a lot of fun to be had with these movies. The pod talks about their history with the franchise and general love of the more campy and earnest 1995 film and it's amazing soundtrack before hopping to the 2021 version to discuss how they felt it handled the material. Will we see more Mortal Kombat movies in the future? Surely they'll deliver on that tournament right? Right???
