Taylor and Andrew continue their road trip into the Fast and Furious movies with the closest thing to a movie DLC.
We're joined by Cody Brown (Studiohouse Designs) to talk about The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift — and how it pushed him toward cars! In talking about Cody's history with the franchise, we all share memories of bringing grandparents to movies they otherwise had no interest in. Cody explains why Suki is his favorite character and talks about what Tokyo Drift brought to the franchise that the first two films didn't. We talk about the biggest Oops! in the movie (including a disgusting detail we never noticed before), whether this movie holds the franchise's “family” pivot, and whether these movies are becoming more or less self-aware (or both at the same time, somehow?). Cody shares deep insights about the cars featured in the movie. We talk about conformity vs. non-conformity. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. It turns out that Annapolis, directed by Justin Lin, is basically the same movie as The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. It's perfect for the Oops! lap. We talk about how it feels like every movie you've ever seen, Tyrese... with hair?, and how Brian Goodman essentially plays Sean's Dad in this movie (but also the exact opposite?). We break down the movie's racism (toward all people), Jordana Brewster as an "escort," and Snickers sandwiches. We try to determine how old James Franco's character is supposed to be -- and whether or not he could have played Sean in Tokyo Drift. Joe airs a scheduling grievance with Joey, wonders how much naval prep Tyrese and Franco did for this movie, and shares the surprising plot twist that delighted him. We try to parse the trailer and why it doesn't seem to reflect the film we watched. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. Dark Legion: Death's Door unleashed Hell on Earth. Now, Dylan & Dalton are exploring their universe's terrifying new status quo with a season of standalone stories packed with new (read: expendable) characters. First up, Dylan is taking a swing at a Dark Universe reimagining of one of the most important horror films of all time: Night of the Living Dead. The last version of this script was killed before it went to air. Can Dylan pull off a resurrection? Our partner podcast for this episode is Your Favorite Bad Movie Podcast, the show that dares to ask "If this movie is so bad, why do you like it so much?" Hosts Chris, Anna, and Greg confront guests about their own personal favorite bad movies, including AYADU's own Dylan Roth and his beloved The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift! The third movie was supposed to be separate from the previous two. Well, things change. This movie went from being mocked to somewhat loved by the fanbase. ...somewhat. This was Justin Lin's first try at the series and he made the greatest character ever, HAN. We talk about cars, the 2000s, South Koreans, weeb culture, wooden acting, and J-Rap.
In the world of movie cars, few vehicles are as instantly recognizable or as iconic as the 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. With its battle-scarred exterior and raw, unfiltered power, the Monte Carlo roared onto the screen as a symbol of old-school American muscle. Now, decades after the movie's release, Austin Bowers a dedicated car builder, has taken on the ambitious task of recreating this legendary street racer—down to every detail. A car that's not built as an homage to the movie but something Austin is proud to drive and race all over the country.

The train owners are back in town: Kim Bhasin and Walt Hickey return to talk about The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift! Kim explains why Tokyo Drift is the rare coming of age story that he can relate to, we get new thoughts (and a brand new take) on the "Sean's dad dilemma," and we question an element of Sean Boswell's wardrobe. We talk about how "the wrong kid died," what this movie does that's rare in the franchise, and a pop culture reference that still works today. We cover all the usual segments (Train fact! Most 80s moment! Most wrestling moment! Most D&D moment), talk about "machete order" in franchises, and wonder if Tokyo Drift was a gateway drug to turn car boys into weebs. We lay out potential universal/F&F crossovers. Walt pitches a F&F Broadway musical. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. We're joined by two philosophers of art to discuss how they've helped each other come to a greater appreciation for this quirky but lovable entry into the Fast and Furious franchise. We discuss how art can change depending on the context in which it is embedded, and the ways the franchise could have gone after this film. We also compare notes on the different ways we've come to appreciate this film over time. This episode is sponsored by The Art of the Trailer. Learn how to become a professional trailer editor today. This week, we're diving into London Boulevard, the directorial debut of The Departed Screenwriter William Monahan. Despite being familiar territory, the film, in which he plays a reformed gangster who falls for a movie star (Keira Knightley), mostly just vanishes the second it's released, and we dig into why, talking the baffling lack of chemistry between the leads, the generic nature of everything onscreen, and the film's callous use of sexual assault. Along the way, we're also praising Colin's fits, looking at the long career of Ray Winstone, and, for some reason, just chatting about James Bond. Connor can't stop talking about Albert Finney. Cole acknowledges a fault in The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Tim and Guy, together in room and opinion, have just had a most wonderful time soaking up the sights, sounds and cinematic experience of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. From the phenomenal racing sequences to the performances of Sung Kang (Han) and Brian Tee (DK / Takashi)—everything comes under the microscope for high praise. The same—sadly—cannot be said for Lucas Black's performance as Sean today, which is given some careful and thoughtful in-depth analysis. Tim runs us through the top five cars he would have sex with from the film, including a beautiful and vulnerable moment that sees Tim genuinely outlining how he would date one of the cars, which then just devolves into some lovely date night suggestions. All season 6 episodes available in bee-youtiful video form at TWIOAT.substack.com Hosted on Acast. Calvin Wan is one of the earliest drifters in the USA, drifting his red Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) in the Bay Area of California. He is a 6 year Formula Drift veteran, driving from 2003 to 2009. During that time, he had multiple podiums, including a 1st place finish in front of his home crowd in Sonoma, being the first import car to win a round of Formula D. He's also a D1GP licensed driver, author, stunt driver, a drifting judge, and instructor. In this interview, Calvin talks about his humble beginnings, his infamous crash where he totalled his RX-7 in front of the judges at D1 Grand Prix Irwindale, some personal memories of fellow Falken teammate Yoshinori Koguchi, gracing the stage at Tokyo Auto Salon as Falken's first win in a pro drifting competition, and his time spent drifting several cars on a narrow mountain road on the set of Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift. We're once again grabbing our uwabaki (more on that later) as we're joined by Matt Stuertz to talk about The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift! Matt begins by dispelling Joey's expectations of his F&F experience and tastes before sharing his rankings and when he thinks these movies work best. We dig deep into Lucas Black's age in this movie, once again worry about breaking this down minute by minute, and wonder: who's the target demo for this movie? Matt shares some thoughts on what he'd like to see upcoming F&F movies cover. Joe brings a splash of Twilight Slumber Party to 2F2F. We try to find the "why" of the Hulk car and discuss the Mona Lisa and Clint Eastwood and John Wayne. Matt gets an exciting result in the F&F Character Quiz before we discover Mr. Tweet made BDWHAPFY harder. Again. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever.
