Don and Dude channel Ren & Stumpy and search for "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy." The boys explore two joyful records that turned pure happiness into chart gold and lifelong fan obsessions. From psychedelic club anthems to bar band singalongs, the guys trace how these albums turned big smiles, tight grooves, and radio hooks into proof that joy never goes out of style. The AlbumsDeee-Lite – World Clique (1990)A colorful debut blending house grooves, funk samples, and club culture idealism, powered by Lady Miss Kier's vocals, guest appearances from Bootsy Collins and Q-Tip, and a world clique vision of global connection through rhythm and joy.Huey Lewis and the News – Sports (1983)A polished bar band record built from tight pop rock hooks, relatable adult themes, and a mix of modern production with classic R&B and country touches, delivering 37 minutes of earnest, sweaty, sing-along happiness that defined mid-80s radio.Diggin' AlbumsAshley McBryde – Wild (2026)Gritty country rock balancing hard-driving energy with vulnerable storytelling about sobriety and survival. The Cars – The Cars (1978)Sleek new wave debut bridging rock guitars and synth textures into radio-ready hooks that shaped the sound of the early 80s.Modest Mouse – An Eraser and a Maze (2026)Pacific Northwest indie rock exploring progress, self-sabotage, and navigating chaos through Isaac Brock's jagged guitar work and anxious lyrics.Death Cab for Cutie – I Built You a Tower (2026)Reflective indie rock from Ben Gibbard circling themes of loss and grief, building an inner tower to hold heavy experiences while moving forward.Follow & SupportFollow the show on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Bluesky @albumnerds, and support by subscribing, rating, reviewing, and sharing with another music obsessive who still loves hearing whole albums front to back."Happiness is anyone and anything at all that's loved by you." - from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, music and lyrics by Clark Gesner (1967)
Sleek, sensual bass science from the NYC SLINK boss, sketching a new blueprint for dub in the 2020s. Kenzo Perron, AKA K Wata, uses bass the way a poet uses punctuation. Sub weight, subtle wobbles and snaking rhythms become commas, dashes and periods—tiny gestures that shape movement, tension and release. Perron's sound sits somewhere between the cavernous minimalism of Rhythm & Sound and the wiry precision of Livity Sound, pulling equally from sound system culture, contemporary minimalism and East Coast club music. His breakthrough 2021 EP, What Do U Wan, sounds like the photo negatives of a Fade to Mind record redesigned for sunrise at Sustain-Release (not to mention his work with Daytimers affiliate Enayet as E-Wata). More broadly, Perron belongs to a a growing American underground reshaping dub techno and bass music in adventurous ways. What sets his music apart, however, is the way it balances delicacy with kineticism and, as his RA Mix makes clear, a touch of sexiness and intimacy too. RA.1039 draws from that very sonic palette. RA.1039 is mainly composed of contemporary dub tracks released in the past decade (with a few choice exceptions). One minute we're wigging out to the krautrock-meets-Black Ark Studio of Eiger Drums Propaganda, the next we're slinking to the hi-fi club of Significant Other. In Perron's hand they melt into a molten liquid of sexy, sleek, bass science. Find the tracklist and read the Q&A at ra.co/podcast/1058 @kwatakwata

A staple component of Marcel Dettmann's MDR imprint and Berghain's Ostgut Ton, German legend Norman Nodge clocks in this week with a killer two-hour deluge of Indus-oriented barrage fire. Known for his laser-precise mixing and lethal selections, Nodge cuts a path of absolute dance floor devastation, pushing back the boundaries of techno as we know it through streams of gravity-defying rhythmic assault and leftfield-informed abstraction. The result is a torrential outpour of powerhouse machine funk, no-surrender techno brutalism and fiery analogue thunder. Dive into an orgiastic smorgasbord of ruthless uptempo churn, surgical technique and immersive cerebrality. Sleek, propulsive ride all the way, y'all aren't ready for this one. Enjoy!
In this week's episode, we're joined by critical mastermind Caroline Cai (aka Clairolime) to unpack what we're calling Catalan Chicslop, the downtempo, sophisticated, quietly freaky aesthetic championed by brands like Paloma Wool and Gimaguas. We discuss how this look evolved from avant-basic dopamine dressing, its influences from ‘90s minimalism to early 20th century experimental couture, Barcelona's history as a modernist aura farm, post-Phoebe Philo feminist-lite brand mythos, and strategies to transcend the tyranny of chicness. We also analyze the aesthetic's appeal to women across successive life stages, from 13-year-old Penelope Dissick to microinfluencer gallerinas to mysterious pregnant brunettes. Imagine this—you're browsing through a collection of vintage timepieces and stumble upon a Wittnauer watch. Sleek, precise, and unmistakably Swiss, but something catches your eye on the case back: “Longines-Wittnauer Watch Co.” Confused? You're not alone. Many collectors today are unaware of the decades-long partnership that brought these two names together, shaping the watch industry in ways few realize. Their story is one of ambition, innovation, and an eventual split that sent both brands down different paths.
Sleek, flush, futuristic--hidden door handles once symbolized the EV era. Now, they're being flagged as safety risks. China is set to ban them, becoming the first country in the world to do so. What triggered the move? How will it affect automakers? Will the impact stop at car design, or ripple into global standards? Host Tu Yun is joined by Professor Yan Liang, Professor of Economics, Willamette University, the United States, Professor Andy Mok of Beijing Foreign Studies University, who's also a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for China and Globalization, and Professor Warwick Powell, Adjunct Professor, Queensland University of Technology, Australia for a chat.

December, in my memory, is white as Lapland, although there were no reindeers. But there were cats. Patient, cold and callous, our hands wrapped in socks, we waited to snowball the cats. Sleek and long as jaguars and horrible-whiskered, spitting and snarling, they would slide and sidle over the white back-garden walls, and the lynx-eyed hunters, Jim and I, fur-capped and moccasined trappers from Hudson Bay, off Mumbles Road, would hurl our deadly snowballs at the green of their eyes.Script 311 a.m. Office. The late '80s were packed with pop-culture obsessions: arcades, action movies, neon aesthetics, and of course, a nationwide fascination with ninjas. Sleek, masked warriors showed up everywhere from toys to TV, shaping the era's love of fast, flashy combat. But no arcade game captured the ninja craze as perfectly as Sega's iconic side-scrolling adventure, Shinobi. How did Shinobi perform a bait and switch on poor kids at the arcade? Is a mining engineering degree the perfect educational pursuit to get into game design? Did Pastblaster enjoy Free Play Florida 2025? What is the earliest ninja arcade game and can the hosts guess it even with one of them owning it? Want fall roads that aren't just postcards but proper drives? We lay out a practical, enthusiast-friendly map of autumn routes that pair tight turns with big color: Blue Ridge Parkway's banked curves and layered foliage, the Cherokee and Nantahala forests with their 900–5,000 ft rhythm, Talimena's ridgetop vistas in the Ouachitas, and Arkansas's double feature—Highway 23's Pig Trail and the long, rolling canvas of Scenic Highway 7. You'll hear when to go for peak hues, where the panoramas hit hardest, and why these segments keep both the driver and the passenger happy. Then we flip through real-deal window stickers from the “good old days,” decoding how options once defined personality: four-speeds that changed everything, drag packs that whispered intent, and destination fees that existed long before today's eye-poppers. Without EPA labels cluttering the page, these Monroneys reveal a different buyer mindset—displacement, gearing, tires, and paint telling a clear story about purpose and pride. It's nostalgia with numbers, not just vibes. We close with a candid review of the 2025 Toyota Prius that might change your mental picture. Sleek lines, serious aero, and 220 combined horsepower turn a former punchline into a compelling daily. The two-cluster cockpit works well, the ride is smooth, and the real-world fuel numbers impress even without plugging in—while the plug-in capability adds flexible range for short commutes. Pricing spans the low 30s to mid-40s as tested, with few direct rivals matching its mix of efficiency, design, and usable torque. If your garage makes room for roads that wind and cars that earn their keep, this one's worth a test drive. If you enjoy these road-tested routes and candid reviews, follow the show, share with a friend who loves fall drives, and leave a quick rating—what route should we feature next?Be sure to subscribe for more In Wheel Time Car Talk! The Lupe' Tortilla RestaurantsLupe Tortilla in Katy, Texas Gulf Coast Auto ShieldPaint protection, tint, and more!Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. Meet the founders of CASED a US company for body armor. I Rhett raised $3m at 17yo and founded Texas' only shuttle-serviced bike park. Throughout operation, I always noticed how practically every rider hated their pads and clothes. Even the pro DH racers! Too bulky. Hot. Itchy. Sweaty. Ripping up. Not even that protective! 10 months after founding the bike park, I saw the opportunity, and put every last penny of mine into founding Cased. To get here, it took us: 9 months (September '24 - May '25) of straight 70 hour work weeks, 5 maxed out credit cards, and 120 different iterations of product testing. I originally planned to launch in November, and without any card debt. But, I knew I could only launch if I had an actually perfected product. The process was insane.Throughout the months, I kept on making more and more test products. My mission was to make protective apparel that was: actually comfortable, actually protective, super minimalistic, and fully custom fit. I went through dozens of manufacturers. Hundreds of cycles of testing. Nonstop research on padding and fabric and sizing. I partnered with Dylan, and I kept on racking up more and more credit card debt to sustain the research. We wanted to launch, but we needed to make a perfect product first. We soft-launched in January, but still had a ways to go.Finally, after all of the work, our first fully functional prototype was here. Everyone thought it was way better than their current gear. Sleek. Super durable. Super breathable. Made of the industry's statistically most impact-absorbing pads and statistically most breathable fabric. I knew I had it. We grinded out the last 2 months and tested the product on dozens of different body sizes, riding temperatures, and more. And, finally, after closing out the R&D and fully establishing our brand, we hard-launched Cased in May 2025. I guarantee you that this is the best protective apparel you can wear. Built purely by mountain bikers, with a sole goal in mind of making gear actually comfortable and actually protective.Want to create live streams like this? GDP Script/ Top Stories for October 4th Publish Date: October 4th PRE-ROLL: From the BG AD Group Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Saturday, October 4th and Happy Birthday to Jon Secada I’m Peyton Spurlock and here are your top stories presented by Gwinnett KIA Mall of Georgia. Central Gwinnett High teacher earns national award Gwinnett tops national mean score on SAT, but trails most metro neighbors Housing Matters: Rainbow Village breaks ground on expansion All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: 07.14.22 KIA MOG STORY 1: Central Gwinnett High teacher earns national award The Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) just gave Amanda Baker, a health science teacher at Central Gwinnett High, the Goodheart-Wilcox Outstanding Service Award—and honestly, it’s no surprise. For 11 years, Baker’s been the heart and soul of her HOSA chapter. Her chapter’s done it all—blood drives, parade floats, Stop the Bleed certifications, and sending students to Internationals in events like Biomedical Debate. STORY 2: Gwinnett tops national mean score on SAT, but trails most metro neighbors Gwinnett County Public Schools is celebrating its Class of 2025 SAT scores for beating the national average—1003 compared to 996—but the story’s a bit more complicated. While the district outpaced the nation, it fell short of Georgia’s state average (1029) and ranked seventh among 12 Metro RESA districts. Schools like Decatur City (1181) and Forsyth County (1178) left Gwinnett in the dust. Interim Superintendent Dr. Al Taylor remains optimistic. Bright spots? GSMST (1360) and North Gwinnett (1165). But some schools, like Meadowcreek (836), are struggling. STORY 3: Housing Matters: Rainbow Village breaks ground on expansion Big things are happening at Rainbow Village. On Sept. 29, they broke ground on a major campus expansion that’ll more than double their capacity to help homeless families—going from 30 transitional apartments to 66. Families who live there get more than just a roof over their heads. They learn how to budget, tackle debt, and save for the future. Utilities and internet? Covered. The $15 million project is 73% funded, but there’s still work to do. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: CITY OF SUGAR HILL STORY 4: Brian Snitker out as Braves' manager, will transition into advisory role After months of speculation, Brian Snitker finally made it official: he’s stepping down as Braves manager after the 2025 season. But don’t worry—he’s not going far. Starting in 2026, he’ll take on an advisory role, marking his 50th year with the organization. At 70, Snitker’s ready for a slower pace—more time with family, fewer road trips. His journey with the Braves started in 1977, thanks to Hank Aaron, who gave him his first coaching job. As the Braves prepare to find their next manager, Snitker’s legacy looms large. From consignment-store bunk beds in the minors to hoisting a championship trophy, he’s seen it all. STORY 5: Buford City Schools names District Teacher of the Year Emily Stewart, Buford Senior Academy’s media specialist, was named the 2025 District Teacher of the Year for Buford City Schools—and honestly, it’s no surprise to anyone who knows her. Stewart, who works with third through fifth graders, has turned the Media Center into something magical. It’s not just a library anymore—it’s a place where kids discover new worlds, take risks as readers, and actually *want* to read. Her Reading Challenge program? A hit. The Genre Café? Genius. Kids sampling books like they’re at a coffee shop? Who wouldn’t love that? But she doesn’t stop there. Stewart organizes school communications, helps teachers with tech, and even runs district-wide events like Books on the Bus, giving free books to families. We’ll be right back. Break 3: LILBURN DAZE STORY 6: Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful names 2025-26 Green Youth Advisory Council class Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is kicking off another year of shaping young leaders with its Green Youth Advisory Council (GYAC) for 2025-2026. This year’s group? Twenty passionate high schoolers from 12 schools across Gwinnett County, ready to make a difference. New faces include Amari Wilson (South Gwinnett), Maansi Singh (GSMST), and Holly Spake (Brookwood), while returning members like Ananya Desai (Peachtree Ridge) and Brian Le (Brookwood) are back for more. From tackling litter to launching school programs, they’ll serve as advocates, volunteers, and innovators. Oh, and seniors? They’re eligible for a $1,000 scholarship. STORY 7: New store open at Mall of Georgia Johnston & Murphy, the classic American brand that’s been around since, well, 1850, is now open at the Mall of Georgia. You’ll find it upstairs, right across from JCPenney. Known for everything from handcrafted dress shoes to casual sneakers, polished jackets to everyday staples, Johnston & Murphy has this knack for blending timeless style with modern vibes. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a statement shoe *and* a go-to sweater in one trip. The boutique? Sleek, modern, and totally worth a visit. These shirts breathe through the heat, but pair beautifully with a lightweight linen shirt or soft chambray button-up for when the sun sets. Tie it around your waist during the day for that casually put-together look.Cool Weather Option: In chillier seasons, transition seamlessly from daytime adventure to nighttime sparkle with a trademark 1923 Main Street fleece-lined sweatshirt or hoodies. Our original upscale designs bring Disney charm without the cartoon vibes, offering warmth and class in one perfect layer.2. Embrace Subtle Sparkle and Moody TonesNighttime Disney calls for a little extra something. The look for Disney at night should be elegant casual meets theme park chic.Consider incorporating subtle sparkle through accessories—think a starry crossbody bag or shimmer-accented Mickey ears in a deep midnight hue. Our tees and sweatshirts in moody tones like cardinal, navy and charcoal give your look that elevated feel without screaming tacky theme park. The goal? Let your love for Disney show without sacrificing style. With a 1923 Main Street shirt as your canvas, you're already ahead of the game.3. Style that Flows from Parks to DiningIt's not uncommon to go from taking the perfect castle photos at golden hour to a dinner reservation at one of Disney's signature restaurants as the sun sets. And with the right outfit, you don't need to run back to the resort.A fitted 1923 Main Street t-shirt tucked into a high-waisted skirt or chic shorts can look perfectly polished. Depending on where you're dining, you could even add a blazer or cropped jacket. Going somewhere where purc comfort is the priority? An elegant subtle Disney sweatshirt with tapered joggers or a maxi dress will instantly give you a layered, cozy-elegant look. Our pieces are intentionally designed to blur the line between theme park apparel and travel-ready fashion—so you can dine at Topolino's or Napa Rose while feeling both magical and modern.4. Let 1923 Main Street® Subtle Disney Apparel Be Your FoundationOur subtle enchanting designs are made for moments like these. Unlike loud, kitschy park merch, our clothing is designed to elevate your Disney experience while keeping the magic just beneath the surface. Our monorail design, for instance, nod to the iconic transportation system without screaming it. It's a conversation starter at any Disney bar or lounge and a stylish choice for those after-dark park selfies. Every 1923 Main Street piece is made to move with you from sunrise to starlight.5. Accessorize with IntentionAccessories are where nighttime looks shine. For evening events like themed parties or Disney After Hours go for any of the following:Themed jewelry in gold or silver tones—castle pendants, subtle mouse ears, or star motifs.Stylish ears or headbands in velvet or metallics.Sleek crossbody bags with hidden Disney touches.Classic sneakers or sandals in coordinating tones that keep you park-hopping in style. These small additions elevate your outfit without overwhelming it. They pair perfectly with the subtle storytelling found in every 1923 Main Street subtle Disney design. From Day to Night, Magic in Every StitchDisney after dark is a special kind of magic and your outfit should reflect that. With thoughtful layering, moody tones and subtle accessories, you can transform your look from daytime adventurer to nighttime dreamer in just a few minutes. At 1923 Main Street, our pieces are designed to travel with you—not just through the parks, but through every moment that matters. So when the castle lights shimmer and the fireworks fill the sky, you'll be ready—not just for the photos, but for the feeling you know and love.Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original travel inspired and subtle Disney travel clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and always remember to roam freely and wear boldly.Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

Tropical Runtz: Sweet, Sticky, and Just a Little UnpredictableThis week on The Sesh, we cracked open a fresh jar of Tropical Runtz — a sticky indoor-grown hybrid that's basically a fruity love child of Runts and Tropical Truffle. If that sounds delicious, it is. If it sounds like it hits hard, well… clear your afternoon. We didn't stop at flower. We gave it a proper test drive in the Verb dry herb vaporizer by Riot — shoutout to Riot and Santa Cruz Shredder for keeping our gear game strong. Smooth grinders, slick rolling trays, and joint tubes you'll actually want to show off? Yes please.Flavor & Smell:Think sweet citrus, dried fruit, and a deep, aromatic swirl that sits somewhere between tropical punch and fancy incense. Not skunky, not earthy — just bright, sticky, and surprisingly smooth.Terpenes:Myrcene: sets the mellow baselineLimonene: lifts you up with zesty citrus vibesLinalool: sneaks in a floral calmHow It Hits:The head high shows up early — you'll feel it tickle your forehead before sliding into a clear, talkative buzz. Expect random giggles, deep thoughts, and maybe a sudden interest in reorganizing your living room. Pro tip: hydrate before you hit it — trust us.The Gear:We tested the Verb by Riot and put it through its paces. Sleek rubberized body, wide bowl, and smart airflow design. A couple hiccups with missing filters (oops), but once dialed in, it hits like a dream. If you're hunting a pocket-friendly dry herb vape, give it a look.Final Word:Tropical Runtz is one of those strains that's equally chill and lively — fruity enough for flavor chasers, potent enough for seasoned stoners. Whether you roll it, vape it, or spark it up the old-school way, you're in for a bright, sticky ride.Light it. Vape it. Let it take you somewhere tropical — no passport required.
