#1 best-selling author, life coach, and counselor David Essel has struggled with anxiety, depression, and addiction for several years. With over 43 years as a counselor and master life coach, he has dedicated his life to helping others who struggle with the same issues he has faced and overcame. Today, David Essel has announced a new platform where people can go for help (http://www.mentalhealthhealing.org) Essel has been a long-time advocate for mental health, and now with the demand for mental health care so high, David has created a movement right now in America with resources and help, which both are currently lacking in our Government. "We need the attention to the mental health situations that are becoming more and more of a challenge for Americans as well as people all over the world. And the stigma around mental health is still so incredibly powerful! Recently, I had the opportunity to interview one of the leading EMS captains in New York City, who point-blank told me on the show that they did not have enough mental health support for everything the first responders have been going through. He also noted, an incredible increase in suicide rates amongst first responders just in his department! And then when we look around at the number of people that are struggling with weight, struggling with addictions, struggling with relationships, struggling with careers, struggling with finances… anxiety! Depression! PTSD! Insomnia! All of these will lead to mental health challenges even for the strongest amongst us,” said Essel.patreon.com/fatkidaz

Fresh of the George Floyd incident I sit down with a few of my black friends and talked about the situation.
Michael Radke was a GCPD (KS) Police officer for 21 years. He has been a school teacher for the last 4 years. He has dealt with the weight of the trauma he was part of while an officer. Over the years he has found healthy coping mechanism's to help get through each day. This is his story.

Lance Lee grew up 2 miles outside of Elkhart. He was raised by Gina and Mark Lee. Lance's story is interesting. He spent his whole life believing that Mark was his father. He never really believed it. Looking nothing like him, acting nothing like him. It wasn't until Lance was 17 that he found out his real father was a man named Troy Boughner. Lance found this out 2 weeks after Troy's death. Lance never met him even though he lived in the same town his whole life. Lance lost contact with his mom, severing ties because of the environment he was raised in. It wasn't until his mother was diagnosed with Cancer that Lance decided it was time to go home. Lance lost his mother years before her death to opiate addiction. The only issue, his mom was only taking the prescribed dose. It was such a high dose that when she got Cancer, they told her they couldn't safely put her on a higher dose than she was already on for Fibromyalgia. Lance chose the route of drugs himself at first. Getting lost in the meth scene for a little bit. It was only then that he realized his true potential and left all of that behind. Sit back and listen to Lance's story. It's pretty interesting. ***Adult Language, Lance has a tough story, and he told it his way. Viewer discretion advised.

I knew of Sean Iman my whole life. I never super got to know him. I think I even got sideways with him a few times. I remember a confused kid who was desperately trying to fit in. Just like the rest of us.Sean was close friends with Levi, If you know of Levi you know of the significance. When Levi tragically died the summer after 9th grade, Sean was left to pick up the pieces.Early on he gravitated towards poetry (much like Levi). Sean and I spent a few weeks together when I was 18. We both ended up moving into a 2 bedroom apartment with 5 other people. Neither of us had jobs. Sean got voted off the island. He packed his stuff and left the apartment. This was the first time I spoke to him since that day.Sean had battles with depression, drug addiction and feeling dead inside. He was invited to church by a coworker and slowly rebuilt his life. Now he is a district manager where he works and he owns Sean's Pecans. Visit his facebook page to order yours today.
Austin was in a signed band and touring by the time he was 18. He quickly developed a substance abuse problem while on the road. Austin found his sanity through prayer and sobriety. Listen to his story.Austin drums for DevilDriver and Bleed The Sky
Jess was a confused kid. Class clown meets micro bully. I didn't like him when he first waled in to Elkhart high school as a freshman. He was cocky. Eventually we became buddies but soon drifted apart.Jess has dealt with depression for his entire life. He tried thereapy, considered medication but eventually found peace when he gave his life to Christ. This journey was not easy. He went down swinging. Jess is now a preacher in Elkhart. He does his services on facebook live. He was able to find peace through prayer. **not everyone is the same, some people (including myself) require therapy and medication.
I met Jorge when I was 21. We both worked at Papa Johns on Falls of Neuse south of the belt line. We hit it off rather quickly and ended up being roommates. Within the first few weeks of bonding he confided in me that he was wanted by the US Marshals. I didn't really believe him. One day I came home to our house in ruin. All the dogs were out of the kennels, everything was chewed up. Poop and pee everywhere. The Marshals had shown up and taken Jorge away. Over the years Jorge and I talked less and less. When we do catch up it is a mixture of new found soberness and a love for life or a sad addicted again situation.I love Jorge and hope he is well. At the end of the episode I share a song I wrote about Jorge.
