Former jockey William Kennedy joins Emmet to preview the key races, big talking points, and exciting horses to look forward to this weekend. They begin with the 'will they won't they' saga of Constitution Hill bidding for back-to-back wins in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle. What should we expect from Shishkin back over hurdles, and which one of Love Envoi or You Wear It Well will enhance the Mares Hurdle claims for Cheltenham? Could Willmount be Constitution Hill 2.0 as he goes for the same race his brilliant stable-mate won on debut? William is confident about his NAP in the Henry VIII Novices' Chase, while Emmet has a 4/1 bet in the race. The lads take each other on again in the Becher Handicap Chase, with William very bullish about his selection, while Emmet NAPS a horse at a wild price! They look ahead to Jonbon's run in the Tingle Creek and El Fabiolo's return in the Hilly Way Chase at Cork, getting the jockey's perspective on what to expect from both. Will Edwardstone go to Sandown or go out in trip in the Peterborough Chase? Is he a player in the King George? William has a strong opinion on Alan King's jumps stable star. Plus, they look ahead to some exciting novice hurdlers to watch out for in Ireland, including a confident bet. Emmet, Katie, and George react to Teahupoo's latest giant-killing at Fairyhouse and debate whether going straight to Cheltenham is the right move for the horse. Is Impaire Et Passe a busted flush, or is he still a major player in the Champion Hurdle division? We shine the spotlight on the exciting novice hurdlers, including the now second favorite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, Jeriko Du Reponet, Firefox, Ballyburn, Farren Glory, and Daddy Long Legs, with strong opinions about who is currently the best of these prospects. We also discuss Juvenile Hurdlers Nurburgring and Wodhooh, as well as Novice Chasers I Am Maximus, Found A Fifty, Hermes Allen, Corbetts Cross, and Il Etait Temps. Finally, we debate how high Datsalrightgino can soar after his impressive win in the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase. Emmet, Katie, and George discuss the weekend's racing, kicking off with Fastorslow's second Grade 1 success over Galopin Des Champs in the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase. Should we be concerned about GDC's Gold Cup prospects? Emmet has historical stats on Gold Cup winners' subsequent form. Speaking of which, Bravemansgame looked like a shadow of the horse he was last season. Can he win back-to-back King Georges? Katie and George have strong views on this. Shishkin earned a Timeform squiggle after disgracing himself at the start. Emmet loses it when George reveals the race Nicky was considering using to prep him. We also discuss State Man's latest Grade 1 win and the Novice Chasers and Hurdlers that impressed us the most. Plus, Katie has a 12/1 antepost bet for Cheltenham that looks like huge value! Jumps jockey Braidon Small says he'll be doing all he can to return to the saddle as soon as possible after he was discharged from hospital following a second brain surgery to remove a tumour.
I'm serving up plenty of sports dishes to keep your appetite satiated as Thanksgiving Week is here. Here is what's on deck: (4:08) As I wish you guys and gals a happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving (as well as making a podcast announcement), we are now well past the halfway point of the NFL season. I've come to terms as to who are the contenders (i.e. KC, PHI, DET, BAL, SF) those on the cusp (i.e. MIA, DAL) and pretenders (i.e. SEA, CIN, JAX & BUF. That's right! I said it!) of who'll make the Super Bowl in the middle of February and who will not. I'll break down some of what took place yesterday, especially the comments Steelers RB Najee Harris admitting to the press as his offense put up another stinker, which I'm sure all fans, including yours truly, share the same sentiment. Why I'm not sold on the Cleveland Browns? I'll take a peek at the Thanksgiving Day schedule, the Black Friday matchup (MIA-NYJ) and the Sunday slate as we close out the schedule for the month of November. (39:51) College football is coming down to the regular season wire. We have an interesting development where the Washington Huskies catapulted themselves into the top four, knocking down the Florida State Seminoles to number five. They suffered a huge loss as QB, Jordan Travis left the game with a leg injury that may have him sidelined for the rest of the season. Can they still get back into the Final Four when it's all said and done? I'll get into a huge weekend on the schedule, the permutations of potential craziness of certain teams losing and where they stand in the playoff mix as the regular season concludes this coming Saturday. (47:13) MLB is preparing their hot stove and they'll have plenty to cook in the coming days. The Atlanta Braves have been wheeling and dealing so far with some small trades. One of the bigger free agents is off the books as Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola stays in Philadelphia, signing a seven year, $172 million dollar contract. Is he worth that type of money? Speaking of money, a ton is going to be thrown the way of Japanese pitcher, Yoshinobu Yamamoto as negotiations can begin as early as tomorrow. Where does he end up? (52:56) The Association has been low key over the past few days. I'll discuss a few injuries (i.e. Bradley Beal, Marcus Smart) some teams playing well. (i.e. Orlando, OKC) A 180 with the Western Conference standings. (56:34) Same could be said for what's happening on the ice as it has been quiet. A star player returns to the lineup (i.e. Devils Jack Hughes), a star player may not see an extended period on the sidelines (i.e. Panthers Aleksander Barkov), a tough guy taking time away from the team because of personal issues (i.e. Bruins Milan Lucic). Besides that, I'll see where we're at in the standings and get into the latest happenings in the NHL.
