Healthy Alternatives to Toxic Household Products

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 28, 2023 30:32

Healthy Alternatives to Toxic Household Products Today's episode is a continuation of last week's on toxicity in our daily lives. With spring cleaning upon us, it's important to note that cleaning up our homes can also mean cleaning up our health, and we're here to give you some tips on how to do just that. Learn what household products could be causing harm to your body & what healthy alternatives we suggest in order to avoid the damage of toxins. First up let's talk about water. Tap water has been found to contain a plethora of toxic chemicals including arsenic, and lead just to name a few. Not only can this be harmful when you're drinking water, but also when you're taking a shower, brushing your teeth, etc. The easiest thing you can do to avoid toxic tap water is to get some sort of filtration system whether it's individually on your shower head, sink, or through your entire house with a whole-house filtration system. Another toxic household item you may want to consider switching is your cleaning products. Ashley Berlin explains that what you're spraying on your kitchen counters matter because if your kids drop food on the table and eat it, they may be consuming remnants of the toxic cleaner that was previously used there. There are plenty of clean brands nowadays that make non-toxic cleaners such as Branch Basics, but if you're looking for a cheaper option check out our article to see how you can make your own at home! Be sure to listen to the full episode to hear Dr. Ryan & Ashley's recommendations for non-toxic cookware, makeup, and more! And be sure to reach out to your local MaxLiving office for details on how you can attend their Terminate Toxins event in just a few weeks. *Please note: the information shared on this podcast are the opinions/views of the hosts. 3 Hidden Toxins in Your Everyday Life Due to the recent toxic spill in Ohio, it's raised concerns for a lot of people about the presence of dangerous chemicals in our environment. Toxins can be found in our food, water, and even the air we breathe causing damage to our health. MaxLiving and the 5 Essentials prioritize minimizing the amount of toxins present, whether through detoxification or by adopting new lifestyle habits to mitigate chemical exposure. In this episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, Dr. Ryan & Ashley Berlin discuss the issue of toxicity and how to avoid it. In order to live a healthy, toxin-free life, you have to become aware of what toxins you're encountering on an everyday basis. The Berlin's explain the three main culprits of toxicity including pharmaceuticals, processed foods, and chemicals that enter through the skin such as makeup, sunscreen, personal care products, etc. While reducing exposure to these items is a great start, there are other detoxification strategies you can take to further help your body heal and function optimally. One way is to get regular chiropractic adjustments to remove interference in the spine and nervous system. Additionally, you could take supplementation such as MaxLiving Detox System or Max Cleanse to flush out toxins. During the month of April, our MaxLiving offices across the country will be hosting their own Terminate Toxins event where you can learn more about how you can steer clear of toxins on a daily basis. Why Physical Strength Adds Value to Your Life

Why Physical Strength Adds Value to Your Life In order to thrive and survive in everyday life, you have to have some sort of physical strength. Whether it's being able to bend down to tie your shoe, lift a toddler off the ground, push open a heavy door, etc. - strength is a necessity. With sedentary lifestyles on the rise, it's important to understand the benefits of moving the body in order to build the strength your body requires everyday of The MaxLiving Podcast. A lot of people have the idea that when you workout you have to focus on one area of your body at a time such as Monday being arm day, Tuesday being leg day, etc. While that may seem like a good idea, you don't always just use one area of your body to complete a task. If you're picking up something that fell on the ground, you have to use your legs, your arms, your core, & possibly even more areas of the body to pick it up. According to the Berlin's, there are a few major movements you can do to increase strength: Squat Deadlift Bench press Standing press The key is learning how to do these movements correctly so that you can perform strength tasks such as bending down, picking up, pushing out, and lifting above your head easier. Another effective way to get your heart rate up while also building strength is through our 12 minute HIIT workout program, MaxT3. How to Get the Most Out of Chiropractic Care

How to Get the Most Out of Chiropractic Care While you may think all chiropractors do the same thing, or offer the same quality care, that isn't the case. MaxLiving Chiropractic doctors spend countless hours training on processes and procedures that help their patients heal and function optimally. When it comes to the outcomes of a patient's care though, MaxLiving chiropractor Dr. Ryan Berlin and his wife Ashley say that there are 3 key components that influence how effective a patient's chiropractic care will be. Tune in to today's new episode of The MaxLiving Podcast to learn how to get the most out of your chiropractic care. No matter if you're a new corrective chiropractic care patient, or a long time maintenance chiropractic patient at your re-evaluation, these questions will still influence your results. How frequently are you supposed to be getting adjusted? How often are you actually getting adjusted? The answers to these two questions can tell our doctors a lot about how committed the patient is to getting their results. For example, if the doctor recommends you come in three times a week for corrective care and you're only coming in once a week, that's a problem. Are you doing your prescribed homecare exercises? Dr. Ryan says that “50% of the results that happen in our office come from people that are doing the work at home.” That means if a patient is coming in for their adjustments but not doing their homecare, they'll most likely only see a portion of their desired results compared to optimal results if they were doing their homecare exercises. What unhealthy lifestyle habits are you working to change in order to keep your spine and nervous system functioning properly? If you're sitting bent over at a desk for 40+ hours a week, sleeping on your stomach, etc. it could be damaging to your spine & nervous system. Put the time in to make lifestyle changes so that all the work you're doing at the chiropractic office to remove interference doesn't go to waste. We hope today's episode gave you some insight on how these questions and answers could influence the outcome of how well your body heals with chiropractic care. Tips to Avoid the Dangers of Sitting

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 21, 2023 28:57

Tips to Avoid the Dangers of Sitting What if we told you that something you do everyday could be a contributing factor to poor health? According to the Mayo Clinic, sitting for long periods of time whether you're at work, school, in the car, or lounging on the couch has been compared to doing as much damage as smoking would. While it may seem impossible to not sit in these situations, there are some things you can do to offset the amount of sitting that you're doing in order to avoid possible health risks. Tune in to today's episode of The MaxLiving Podcast to learn tips to avoid the dangers of sitting. Contrary to popular belief, sitting is actually more harmful on your spine than standing. For example, when you're standing, your spine is being supported by your legs, but when you're sitting, all that pressure is being put on your lower back. The position you sit in as well could cause even more pressure such as if you cross your legs or have a wallet in your back pocket. A few tangible strategies Dr. Ryan & Ashley Berlin suggest to avoid the dangers of sitting include: Using a standing desk Getting up every hour and moving your body - even if it's just walking around the house Adding a pedal exerciser, elliptical exerciser, or treadmill under your desk Using a wobble cushion to warm up your spine and relieve lower back pain Using a traction unit to help fix any forward head posture while looking at a screen for long periods of time & more Share this episode with someone who sits for long periods of time. It could possibly save them from developing health issues as a result of their prolonged sitting in the future! *Please note: the information shared on this podcast are the opinions/views of the hosts. One of the reasons why you may find yourself lacking motivation is because you don't feel tied to the goal. The good news is, you were born with a purpose for what you're meant to do here on earth. Innate Intelligence Explained Have you ever stopped to think about how incredible the human body is? No matter what you're doing, it's working non-stop to help you breathe, eat, sleep and live the abundant life you deserve. What you might not realize though is that there's a process that helps your body adapt, change, and heal on its own, known as innate intelligence. If you're unfamiliar with innate intelligence and what it is, or you've heard of it and want to learn more, you're in luck! Today Dr. Ryan and Ashley Berlin will deep-dive into all things innate intelligence so you can work with your body, rather than against it. The reason why innate intelligence is such an incredible process is because your body already knows how to do it. You don't have to tell your body to breathe, or your heart to beat - it happens on its own. Unfortunately though there are things that can interfere with your body's ability to heal including spinal misalignment, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, etc. In an effort to assist your body in functioning more efficiently, Dr. Ryan and Ashley suggest removing interference in the body through chiropractic adjustments. Ashley says that “the greatest doctor is inside of you,” and we couldn't agree more. Your entire body is capable of healing through innate intelligence, but it can't communicate with all parts of the body if interference is present. Rather than starting your day on a chaotic note, try creating a consistent morning routine. According to Dr. Ryan and Ashley Berlin, a good morning routine includes a handful of microhabits that can help you feel more productive so you can win the day. Follow along for tips on how to create a productive morning routine. Ashley mentions that “morning preparation starts at night,” and we couldn't agree more. Rather than wasting time in the morning to pick out your workout clothes or decide what workout you're going to do, plan it the night before so you're more likely to complete it in the morning. The same goes for any other habits you plan on adding to your morning routine such as journaling. If you have your journal on the nightstand right next to you, you'll be more likely to write in it as soon as you wake up. When creating your morning routine, it's important to note that not every plan will work for you. Dr. Ryan talks about how he used to try to read the bible first thing in the morning but it ended up making him more tired. Now he drinks a full glass of water, journals, does a workout, and then reads the bible before starting his day. Regardless of what you decide to add to your morning routine, make sure it's beneficial to you and your needs in order for you to become the best version of yourself. Rather than setting unattainable goals, Dr. Ryan and Ashley Berlin suggest creating goals around your mission, vision, and purpose statement, so you're more motivated to achieve them. Don't miss today's new episode of The MaxLiving Podcast to learn how to set mission-centered goals. One of the most important things you can do in life is to set your mission statement. Personal mission statements help clearly define your purpose and allow you to steer clear of distractions. Dr. Ryan states, “we all have the same 24 hours in a day… but it's how we utilize it and the vision we have for it” that sets us apart. Before setting action steps for your new goal, it's vital you identify what your current mission is in life either individually, or for your family. By understanding this first, you can have a solid foundation for everything you do. When it comes to setting mission-centered goals, Dr. Ryan recommends writing down your current habits vs. habits you need to change in order to achieve them. Gift giving is all about bringing joy to your loved one's life, and the fact of the matter is, it can be hard to bring joy to someone who's lost their health. Rather than giving a gift that lasts a few days, a season, or a year, Dr. Ryan and Ashley Berlin discuss giving a gift that will last a lifetime - the gift of health. While health may seem like a huge gift, it doesn't have to be. Many of our MaxLiving doctors offer a discounted price on the first visit, which is a perfect option to gift your loved one so they can get started in the office and get a baseline of where their health is currently. Another option is to give your loved ones metabolic testing. MaxMetabolix is our functional nutrition & toxicity testing program that helps to detect disruptions & deficiencies in the body. If you're looking to give more than just one visit or test, you could also give an entire care plan so that your friend or family member has all of their chiropractic visits taken care of. Ashley and Ryan mention other health-related items that they've gifted throughout the years, including any of our MaxLiving supplements, or the MaxLiving Align Your Health: Maximizing Your Pregnancy, Birth, and Newborn book. No matter how big or how small the gift you decide to get this holiday season, consider if it will make an impact on that person's life. Health is something that everyone needs, but a lot of people don't value until they lose it. Get started by contacting your nearest MaxLiving office. Want more of The MaxLiving Podcast? How to Heal Fibromyalgia Naturally

How to Heal Fibromyalgia Naturally So many times patients with fibromyalgia are told that the only option they have to ease their pain is medication. While medication may seem like a great idea at the time, it can be extremely dangerous and could cause other complications down the road. In today's episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, Dr. Ryan & Ashley Berlin discuss what they believe is the best option to relieve fibromyalgia pain and help heal the body with corrective chiropractic care. Dr. Ryan explains a research study done by the Journal of Clinical Rheumatology (2022), which concluded that a misaligned neck (specifically the cervical curve) may be a key factor associated with fibromyalgia. For those who are unaware, a normal neck is supposed to be shaped like the letter “C”. Unfortunately though, physical, mental and emotional stress can cause the neck to change shape and become straight, creating dysfunction in the body. Luckily for patients with fibromyalgia, chiropractic care may be able to help regain the normal “C” shaped curve by removing interference in the spine and nervous system. Our MaxLiving doctors across North America have helped thousands of patients experience a life without limits. If you or someone you know has fibromyalgia, be sure to share this episode with them! The Importance of Practicing Gratitude What if we spent the entire year focusing on gratitude and giving thanks rather than just during Thanksgiving? Gratitude not only helps us to feel good, but it also allows others to feel wanted and appreciated. Who doesn't want more of that? In this week's episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, Dr. Ryan & Ashley Berlin talk about what gratitude is, the positive impacts it can have on us, and the importance of reflecting on what you're thankful for everyday. Dr. Ryan explains that “one of the best things about practicing gratitude is the more you use it… the more you see the things showing up in your life that you're grateful for.” Whether you're telling someone thank you, or writing in a gratitude journal, expressing gratitude has been found to improve sleep and overall well being (Emmons & McCullough, 2003). Tune in to learn Dr. Ryan & Ashley Berlin's tips for staying healthy during the holidays. Stay away from sugar as much as possible. Not only is it bad for your gut, but it also tanks your immune system. Since you aren't exposed to as much sunlight in the winter months as you are in the summer, many people end up being deficient in vitamin D. Try our Vitamin D3+ Probiotics. Make sure you're getting enough sleep. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! While you may be drinking coffee or tea to keep you warm, water is the most important. Don't skip out on getting adjusted. Your nervous system regulates all functions in your body therefore if you skip your adjustments, your body may not function properly. Be intentional about what you put in your body. When it comes to finding the solution for why your child is sick all the time, Dr. Ryan and Ashley suggest asking yourself 2 important questions: Are you giving your child things that support their health? (EX: feeding them processed foods, letting them watch tv/play video games all day, buying them personal care products with toxic chemicals, etc.) Although it may seem like a lot to think about, it's important to take the time to analyze what lifestyle habits could be contributing to your child's sickness. After all, if you aren't intentionally supporting their health, you're unintentionally creating interference in their body which in turn may cause sickness and disease. While preparing for the fall may be overwhelming, Ashley and Dr. Ryan Berlin are here to ease your stress and give you tips to help your kids stay healthy during the school year. One common misconception about sending your children back to school is that there are way more germs, when that's not the case! Your children are exposed to germs everywhere whether they were at summer camp, the pool, etc., so there's no need to panic. While it may seem like the whole school is sick during the fall and winter months, it just means you have to work harder to strengthen your child's immune system. Dr. Ryan and Ashley explain that they give their kids green juice and do a family workout almost every morning to ensure their kids get what they need to keep their body strong. The Berlin's also stress the importance of being aware of what's happening in your childrens' school. Not everyone who looks after your kids is going to make the same decisions as you, so it's important to be mindful. If you prefer your children to use non-toxic hand sanitizer rather than the one the school provides, make sure you send a non-toxic one in their backpack. Also, check to see what the school prepares for lunch or snack to see if it aligns with your family's nutritional guidelines. Birthing Without Fear Although childbirth is an incredibly rewarding and emotional experience, there's a lot of fear associated with it. Whether you're worried about the pain, how long it will take, if everything will go smoothly etc., the unknown can be overwhelming. In today's episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, Ashley Berlin sits down with her sister-in-law, Erin Berlin to discuss birthing without fear. Tune in to hear the experienced moms explain the difference between a natural birth vs. hospital birth, having a positive mindset throughout the experience, advice & more. When it comes to giving birth, most people picture it happening in a hospital, but that isn't the only option. Natural births (or home births) are a holistic alternative and usually occur in the mother's home. “It's important for women to feel safe when they are giving birth,” says Erin. Whether you feel most comfortable having doctors around in a hospital, or having a midwife in your home, that's completely up to you. Erin explains she was planning on having her child in the hospital until she watched her friend have a home birth. After seeing how peaceful the whole process was, Erin decided to have all 3 of her child's births at home. One of the most important factors when it comes to the success of your child's birth has to do with your mindset. There are a lot of times during birth that your plan doesn't go the way you had hoped, and what you need to remember is that's completely normal! Rather than focusing on the negatives, focus on the positives! Your body was designed to reproduce and go through this process. At the end of it you will have the best reward, a beautiful baby - so cherish the moment. You CAN do this! Chiropractic Patient Turned Chiropractor In today's episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, Dr. Ryan Berlin sits down with his brother Dr. Justin Berlin to discuss how becoming a chiropractic patient inspired him to become a chiropractor. Like many other families in the U.S., the Berlin brothers received care from the medical model. After multiple rounds of medications, procedures, etc. failed to help, their parents decided to try a more natural approach to healing with chiropractic care. Dr. Justin explains the first time he realized the incredible power chiropractic care had on the body was when it helped him heal from two major injuries in high school. This inspired him to pursue chiropractic where he went on to receive his degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. Since then, he's practiced chiropractic in Troy, Michigan for 17 years. Dr. Justin urges anyone listening to invest in chiropractic care now to correct and prevent health problems from worsening in the future. He explains that if you're a current chiropractic patient who hasn't experienced major changes, to be consistent. Lastly, Dr. Justin and Dr. Ryan stress to share your chiropractic journey with others in an effort to change their lives for the better. The Truth About Heart Health

The Truth About Heart Health According to the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Although you may think “it'll never happen to me,” you'd be surprised. Heart disease affects 1 in 4 people, which means if you have 4 people in your household, one of you is statistically going to be a trisk. In today's episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, hosts Dr. Ryan and Ashley Berlin discuss critical heart research which may be contrary to what you've heard in the past. Let's dive deeper into the truth about heart health. While most people think cholesterol is bad for you and causes heart disease, that isn't the case. The oxidation of cholesterol is what causes heart disease, not cholesterol itself. Dr. Ryan explains that “cholesterol is one of the most unbelievable repair substances in the body” and helps to mend blood vessels, the brain, etc. Due to the environment and current state of the world, most people are stuck in a sympathetic, fight or flight state which can be damaging to the heart. The combination of chronic stress, toxins in the standard American diet, lack of exercise, and spinal misalignment all create a recipe for an unhealthy heart. Finding Motivation to Exercise Moving your body is an extremely important aspect of staying healthy but unfortunately, a lot of people skip it. If you find yourself saying, “I don't have time to exercise,” “I have a bad knee,” “I'll do it tomorrow” or “the gym is too far,” today's episode is a must-listen. Hear former Crossfit gym owners, Dr. Ryan and Ashley Berlin explain how to get off the couch and find motivation to exercise. No matter your age, health, or shape - it's never too late to start exercising. While that may sound intimidating, it's not what you think. Exercise for everyone doesn't mean running a marathon, it means intentionally moving, sweating, and ridding your body of toxins everyday. Dr. Ryan says that one of the worst things you could do for your health is to stop moving your body because it slows you down and may cause your health to decline. Instead, keep exercise… Simple Fancy workout equipment isn't always needed to get the job done. Make things simple by using the equipment you have on-hand at home. Fun Don't force yourself to run if you hate running. Instead try doing a workout you enjoy such as Zumba, biking, or swimming. Easy/Accessible When you're not motivated to exercise, make the components that go into exercising so easy that you can't pass it up. Is your gym a mile down the road? Did you set out your exercise clothes the night before? Do you have weights sitting in your room? The exercise program we as MaxLiving believe meets all those criteria is MaxT3. MaxT3 is a high intensity interval training program (HIIT) which can help you get maximum results in just 12 minutes. This short, yet effective at-home workout focuses on 3 principles of type, time, tempo and can be adjusted to secure specific results. If you're someone with a super busy schedule, looking to maintain your health but also spend quality time with your family, MaxT3 is the answer. Avoiding Toxins at Home You can workout everyday, eat healthy, get adjusted, have a positive mindset and still have trouble overcoming your health problems due to toxin exposure. From the time you wake up, brush your teeth, take a shower, clean the kitchen, etc. you've encountered countless dangerous chemicals that could damage your health. In today's episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, Dr. Ryan and Ashley Berlin discuss avoiding toxins at home. Dr. Ryan says the most toxic places in your house are most likely the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room, and that's not because of what goes on in those rooms. Many cleaning products such as air freshener, toilet bowl cleaner, wipes, etc. contain harmful toxins that can negatively affect your health. Rather than replacing your current cleaning products all at once, start one room at a time. If you're in the kitchen, replace your hand and dish soap first, then go deeper to assess what you're spraying on the countertop. After conquering the kitchen, move on to the next room. Ashley's holy grail non-toxic cleaning products are baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and white vinegar. Not only are these products cheaper than status quo cleaning products, but they're also safer for your body too. Strategies to Overcome Picky Eating Do you have a child who refuses to eat anything other than chips, pizza, mac and cheese, etc.? Tune in to today's new episode of The MaxLiving Podcast to hear Dr. Ryan and Ashley Berlin's strategies to overcome picky eating. As a parent, you have a big impact on your child's health. At the end of the day, children aren't capable of making well-rounded nutritional decisions, therefore it's your job to do so for them. Although this may sound like a daunting task, it doesn't have to be. The first step to making nutritional decisions for your family is to set a standard. Ask yourself: What does eating healthy look like for your family? If you don't know what that looks like, that's okay - but it's time to set a standard in order to achieve it. “You get caught in a cycle of repetition of bad habits not because you don't wish to change, but because you don't have the right standard,” -Ashley Berlin. When it comes to eating healthy, the environment you're in plays a stronger role than motivation. Your child may want to eat healthy, but if there are unhealthy snacks in the pantry, their motivation for eating healthy is most likely going to fall to the wayside. The best thing you can do as a parent is get rid of unhealthy food, drinks, and snacks in your house so there's no temptation. Instead of having chips on the counter for the kids to snack on, put fruits and vegetables out. We hope today's episode gave you the tools and resources you need to help your child overcome picky eating habits. Today they discuss Dr. Irene Gold's journey through chiropractic. Contrary to popular belief, Dr. Gold didn't begin her professional career in chiropractic. Before attending chiropractic school, she spent 13 years as a registered nurse, public health nurse, and school nurse. Since then, Dr. Gold has been passionate about teaching the principle of chiropractic to the world, leading her to teach at Sherman College of Chiropractic, the Columbia Institute, & more. She reflects back on her chiropractic journey and tells the story of when she was invited to be in a debate with a well-known writer/pediatrician Dr. Robert Mendleson, a member of the CDC, and a chief hospital pediatrician. Regardless of whether or not Dr. Gold's beliefs were the audience's “popular opinion”, she stood her ground and stuck to the principles of chiropractic. She also spent time working with her husband Reggie in their chiropractic office. For every patient they saw, they made a conscious effort to educate them about subluxation and how removing it could help them function at their full potential. Just as you have a starting point, route, and destination in a GPS, your health does too. See the 3 steps that matter in your health road map below: Where did you start? How was your birth? What are your genetics? What lifestyle choices were made for you when you were younger? Are you vaccinated? All these factors play into the start of your health journey. For example, if you ate heavily processed foods growing up, your nutrition may be lacking compared to if you ate organic fruits/vegetables and pasture raised meats. Where are you going? What are your health goals? Do you want to be able to do outdoor activities with your grandkids? Do you want to still be able to play tennis in your 70's? Health goals are great for motivation and allowing you to think about the bigger picture. If you've never thought about your health goals, now would be a great time to start thinking about them because the longer you wait, the harder they may be to achieve. Where are you now? What is the current state of your health? What can you do TODAY to help you reach your health goals TOMORROW? This stage is one that people can get a little disconnected with. For example, it can be hard to face reality and realize that your current health state isn't doesn't match when you were in the best shape of your life in college. By being proactive about your health road map now, you can be on track to reach your health goals. If you enjoyed today's episode, leave us a review! Chiropractic Care and Sleep Getting enough sleep is essential to maintaining a healthy body. According to the CDC, adults who get less than 7 hours of sleep are more likely to report 10 chronic health conditions than those who do get enough sleep. If you're having trouble sleeping, be sure to listen to today's new episode to hear about chiropractic care and sleep, what type of pillow to sleep on, how to know if your mattress is good or bad, & more! Dr. Ryan mentions that one of the most frequently mentioned benefits of getting regular chiropractic adjustments is improved sleep. They tell a story of a family with twin babies who before chiropractic care never slept more than 4 hours a night, but after getting adjusted slept a full 8 hours. Chiropractic adjustments help restore blood flow and remove interference in the nervous system, allowing the body to not only function better, but feel better so you can relax into a deeper sleep. Your body heals when you sleep - therefore it's crucial you have a healthy sleeping environment to heal optimally. If you find yourself waking up sore or in pain pretty regularly, consider your mattress, pillow, or position you're sleeping. Most people don't know that the average mattress only lasts around 7-10 years, so you may want to invest in a new one if you've had it for longer. When it comes to pillows, you want a pillow that is spinal neutral - AKA one that supports the neck and lower back. Dr. Ryan and Ashley suggest sleeping with foam rolls under the neck and lower back to keep that spinal neutral position. How to Relieve Seasonal Allergies Naturally

How to Relieve Seasonal Allergies Naturally Did you know 50 million Americans suffer from allergies? With spring being in full swing, we're here to help give you action steps for how to relieve seasonal allergies naturally. Dr. Ryan explains there are 5 signs of life known in chiropractic which are: Assimilation - the process of eating and turning food into living cells. Excretion - the process of getting rid of toxicity so you can keep the body cleansed. Adaptation - the ability for your body to deal with something and overcome it. Growth - the ability for living things to grow. Reproduction - the process of cells reproducing. This is extremely relevant to allergies because they occur as a result of your body not being able to adapt to its environment. For example, Dr. Ryan and Ashley went on a trip to Oklahoma where they came into contact with a new environment (ie: pollen) which was very different from the pollen in their home state of Ohio. As a result, their immune system response was weak and they were unable to adapt, causing allergy symptoms such as a runny nose, or watery eyes. In order to give the body what it needs to overcome allergies, we have to go back to the 5 signs of life. To get to the adaptation stage, you have to finish assimilation and excretion first, which means you have to be intentional about what you're putting in your body (ie: healthy food) to ensure it can be supported in the best way possible for assimilation. It's also important to minimize toxicity through excretion so nothing stands in the way of proper functioning. The last and most important key to adaptation is to take care of your spine and nervous system. By getting your spine checked regularly, we can remove interference in the body and help it function at its full potential. Healing Your Body with Chiropractic Care Everyone deserves to live a healthy life where they can function at their full potential. Why is it though that so many of us live with health issues and don't do anything about it until it's too late? In today's episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, guest host and MaxLiving Dr. Marc Surprenant and Dr. Neil Cohen of Sherman College of Chiropractic, discuss healing your body with chiropractic care. When it comes to the functioning of the body, it's important to know that it's never stagnant at 100% - it's always fluctuating and moving. One way to maintain as close to full function as possible is to prioritize the health of your spine and nervous system through chiropractic care. The nervous system is the master controller of the body, meaning it controls the functioning of all of the body's systems, organs, etc. If there's interference in the nervous system, the body won't function or heal properly, causing symptoms and disease to occur. Dr. Neil Cohen explains it best, “health isn't how you feel… it's how you heal.” Although you may feel fine, there could be interference in your body that will not only restrict your ability to function and heal, but also hold you back from being the best you can be. Take responsibility for your health with chiropractic care. Through the use of x-rays, we can pinpoint the interference in your body and perform specific chiropractic adjustments to remove it, allowing you to heal and function properly. How to Heal a Diagnosis Naturally Most people when learning their medical diagnosis put their health in the hands of their doctor, letting them decide what options they should take. What people don't realize though is you aren't limited to just drugs and surgery. Your health is your choice, and if you strive to come out on top over your diagnosis, it's imperative you seek out other options such as learning how to heal a diagnosis naturally. In today's new episode, hear guest host and fellow MaxLiving chiropractor Dr. Cameron Maynard share his story and action steps for how he helped his mother heal naturally from colorectal cancer. Dr. Cameron's 3 steps for how to heal a diagnosis naturally: Reflect While time doesn't seem to be on your side after first hearing your diagnosis, Dr. Cameron strongly suggests that you pause and reflect on what likely caused your condition. By doing so, you can pinpoint the interference and take the necessary steps to remove it. If you skip this step, you run the risk of not getting better due to the fact that you might still be implementing poor habits that continue to damage your health. Research After reflecting and being honest with yourself, it's vital to research all possible options and outcomes of your diagnosis. Don't just research the common options that you hear most people do - dig deep and search for natural alternatives. Go all in Once you've done your research and have a road map of what you plan on doing, the most important step you can take is to go all in completely and commit to your plan. Block out the noise and opinions of those who tell you what you're doing is wrong and instead, prove them wrong. The best results happen when you give all your effort to it. How Chiropractic Can Help Ear Infections

How Chiropractic Can Help Ear Infections Nothing's worse than seeing your child in pain from an ear infection and not knowing how to help them. In today's episode, Dr. Ryan and Ashley Berlin discuss how chiropractic care can help ear infections, as well as natural remedies to heal otitis media (ear infections). According to the Boston Children's Hospital, 80% of children have been diagnosed with at least 1 ear infection by the time they are 3 years of age. The traditional route people take when their child has an ear infection is to take them to a doctor, leaving only 2 treatment options available: antibiotics or tubes put in the ears. Although these may seem reasonable, what you don't realize is that they aren't fixing the root cause of the ear infection. Spinal misalignment (otherwise known as subluxation), creates interference such as ear infections in the body. This puts pressure on the nerves causing the ear to not function properly. Dr. Ryan mentions a study published in the Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics where researchers found there was a strong correlation between chiropractic adjustments and healing of otitis media. If you know someone who struggles with ear infections, share this episode with them - it could change their quality of life for the better!
