As you may be aware, one of the leading lights in Chiropractic has passed away. Dr. Arno Burnier has been a teacher, mentor, and friend to so many in the profession. Sadly, this kind, loving, and dynamic person is no longer with us here on the earth. And fortunately, his teachings, recordings of his presentations at Mile High and elsewhere, and his writing remain, so the impact he has made on so many remains and will for years to come. In honor of Arno, and as a gift to you, this week's very special presentation on The Mile High Podcast is the most recent podcast he did with us about a year ago, almost to the day. How likely is it that one mosquito make a difference? How can something small make a big difference? One little as a mosquito in your bedroom can make quite an impact on your night's sleep. Sometimes as a chiropractor, you'll feel like you are too small to make a difference. The truth is that a small force of instability can make a big difference!  And one passionate chiropractor against the cultural story of conventional views around health makes a tremendous impact on a practice, a community, and the Chiropractic profession.  Arno has been a force of instability, rocking people's perception stories around what health is. You can be a force too! There are few people in Chiropractic who can be recognized by only their first names. Arno is one of them. Dr. Arno Burnier is a renowned Doctor Of Chiropractic, an International Public Speaker on Chiropractic, Life, Health, Healing and Wellbeing. Married 35 years to his extraordinary wife Jane, he is a Father and Grandfather. Arno is a Mentor, Coach and Teacher to countless Doctors of Chiropractic and Students. His impact and influence in the world of Chiropractic, Health and Healing is significant. He traveled from France to attend Sherman College when it was in its infancy and has held the space for the potential for chiropractic to create a new paradigm for humanity. About Our Guest:Before attending Sherman College of Chiropractic, Dr. Valentina studied Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, while there, she discovered the healing benefits of chiropractic from her good friend and now mentor. While in chiropractic school, she joined the school's Gonstead club and became the club vice president for some time. Dr. Amy and Dr. O are certified by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association. This modality helps the nervous system attempt to achieve its maximum potential allowing your animal to function to the best of its ability. They will utilize a series of manual adjustments in an attempt to restore normal motion to the joints of your animal's body. The science of chiropractic care has discovered throughout the last one hundred years that misalignment of joints (subluxation), especially the vertebrae, adversely alters nerve function from around those areas. Altered nerve impulses leaving the spinal column can adversely affect the function of organs and tissues supplied by that nerve. This altered function can lead to pain, disease, fatigue, muscle weakness, poor balance, immune suppression, etc. Animal chiropractic is the art, science, and philosophy that releases the body's inherent recuperative powers and allows the body to deal with the relationship between the nervous system and the spinal column and its associated structures. Remember, the power that made the body heals the body, it happens no other way.

Jaime Browning, BS. DC. DCCJPThis episode highlights the significance of research in upper cervical care and emphasizes its positive impact on a person's health. Dr. Jamie Browning discusses the connection between neck alignment and various health issues, such as migraines, TMJ disorders, and IBS. She also discusses using tools like pupillary constriction measurement and thermal imaging to assess patients and track improvements. Dr. Browning emphasizes the need for accessible research resources and collaboration among healthcare professionals to bring hope to patients with complex conditions. Dr. Browning's background is that she played volleyball from seventh grade all the way through college. She is a former Navy reservist, so she had a lot of battle wounds that I had to deal with. Her main symptoms were TMD, IBS, and Migraines. When the atlas bone misaligns, it pulls and tugs on the jaw, leading to TMJ issues. Upper cervical chiropractic can correct this alignment and relieve jaw and digestive issues. The healing process for migraines takes time, as it involves tissue regeneration and the recalibration of fluid flow in the brain. The ultimate goal of chiropractic care, especially upper cervical chiropractic, is to help patients adapt to their environment.Discussing the different Upper Cervical Techniques such as NUCCA, Blair, and Knee-Chest. All these techniques are gathered under one umbrella in the ICA Upper Cervical Council. As the president of the Upper Cervical Council, Dr. Browning's call to action for Upper Cervical Chiropractors is to be more involved in research and to pool their resources: time, talents, and treasures. The Upper Cervical Council aims to make research sharing more accessible and affordable by providing a bibliography to members.Good research validates the things that we know, it shows how reliable our care is. The other thing it does is we get to test parameters and learn even more about what this care does.Research also proves the reliability of technology, such as measuring the pressure behind the pupils, using temperature differential measurements for dysautonomia, safe, effective, and reliable use of Cone Beam CT scans, and much more. The ultimate goal of chiropractic care, especially upper cervical chiropractic, is to help patients adapt to their environment. Most of the world does not have Upper Cervical available, but due to good research and standards, it is now possible to take it to Europe and eventually other parts of the world. To contact Dr. Brownig:drjaimebrowning@gmail.comjbrowning@sherman.edu.To find out more about the ICA Upper Cervical Council:https://www.icauppercervical.com/To find a doctor near you: https://www.icauppercervical.com/find-a-doctor/To find out more about Sherman College of Chiropractic:https://www.sherman.edu/

Cutting Edge Health: Preventing Cognitive Decline

According to recent research conducted by Tel Aviv University (TAU) and the Shamir Medical Center in Israel, hyperbaric oxygen treatments (HBOT) administered to healthy aging adults can stop the aging of blood cells and even reverse the aging process. Remarkably, the treatments cause the blood cells of the adults to become biologically younger as the therapy progresses.  The study indicates that HBOT may induce significant senolytic effects including increasing telomere length and clearance of senescent cells in the aging populations. If one can slow or reverse aging, then the onset of age-related diseases like Alzheimer's, cancer and heart disease are slowed, too. In hyperbaric oxygen therapy patients experience increased air pressure within either a hard-sided or soft-sided enclosed chamber, often coupled with breathing concentrated oxygen. The pressure is similar to the pressure you feel when you dive to the bottom of the deep end of the swimming pool, according to Dr. JoJo Yonce, a neurofeedback specialist, with clinics in North and South Carolina. Dr. Yonce says HBOT can be used as a powerful therapy for those in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of cognitive decline, because it, among other factors, increases stem cell production in the brain.  Dr. Yonce, a neurofeedback specialist, says that for some people — but not all — the oxygen therapy can reverse decline in memory. HBOT also creates brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a molecule that affects memory. In addition it triggers sirtuin reaction, which affects healthy aging. Ordinarily, Dr. Yonce recommends 20 to 80 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to support those experiencing cognitive decline, but the number depends on each patient's individual situation. Some might require more, he explains. Each session of about 75 minutes in duration usually costs just over $100. ***** Dr. JoJo Yonce is board-certified in neurofeedback and is a mentor for the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) board certification process. He helps train other practitioners to become board certified in neurofeedback. He has four clinics in the Greenville, SC and Asheville, NC, areas; partners with several other clinics in overseeing neurofeedback case management; and serves as a consultant to doctors and clinics to help them deliver top notch neurofeedback care and improve their clinical outcomes. He was in the Honors College at the University of South Carolina and graduated magna cum laude from Sherman College of Chiropractic with a doctorate in Chiropractic in 1998. Dr. Michael LenarzDr. Michael Lenarz has been a Blair Upper Cervical Doctor for about 34 years. He graduated from Sherman College in 1987. It was there that he learned about upper cervical work. The idea is to do the least amount of adjusting to get the most powerful healing.Growing up, Dr. Lenarz didn't hear much about chiropractors. At 25, he injured his shoulder while working in his father's factory. It wasn't terrible, but it was a fairly painful shoulder. That was what prompted him to go to his very first chiropractic visit. He went to an acquaintance, Dr. Arthur Berman, whose brother and father were also chiropractors. They had all three graduated from Sherman College. Dr. Berman shared with him a little bit about Chiropractic Philosophy, which stated, “There is in the universe an infinite intelligence which creates and sustains life, which creates and sustains the whole universe. That this infinite intelligence actually exists within all living things. This infinite intelligence, if it expresses itself properly without anything interfering with it in the living thing, in the human being, then the result is health.” After hearing that, Dr. Lenarz realized that he needed to be a chiropractor. Dr. Lenarz then moved to Washington State with his family. Originally to Seattle, they settled in an agricultural and logging community known as Sedro-Wooley, Washington. His focus throughout the years has been Blair upper cervical care. He began to take care of patients and just saw the miracle that it was supposed to be. Dr. Lenarz recalls one case that has stuck with him through the years. It's a story about a little baby that he took care of named Sarah. He had previously taken care of her mother and grandfather. When Sarah was born, it was a difficult birth, and the umbilical cord was wrapped around Sarah's neck three times. The problem was that every time Sarah tried to nurse or feed, she stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated. They left the hospital and went straight to Sedro-Wooley to see Dr. Lenarz. The whole family came and wanted to be checked! The baby was up first and was now 6 or 7 weeks old. After finding a misalignment in the upper neck and getting x-rays, he adjusted. He took Sarah and her mother to the resting area. After checking the others, he returned to check on Sarah and was shocked to see her mother feeding her. Dr. Lenarz recalls a patient with Trigeminal Neuralgia, the suicide disease. After an adjustment, her pain went away within a day. It did come back mildly a couple of times, but after just a couple more adjustments, she had been pain-free for months and was able to go on a trip.Dr. Lenarz had this to say, “ I'm just very passionate about this upper cervical work. I really love all chiropractic, and I think that the thing which is most powerful-- In fact, I've never, ever in all these years run across any other healing modality, which is as powerful as upper cervical care.”To contact Dr. Lenarz or to buy his book, go to https://www.drmichaellenarz.com/To contact Ruth, go to https://www.blairclinic.comruth@blairclinic.comhttps://www.facebook.com/rutelin

Dr. Russell Goff's favorite quote is from the Bible, a statement made by Jesus of Nazareth, “Give generously and generous gifts will be given back to you, shaken down to make room for more. Abundant gifts will pour out upon you with such an overflowing measure that it will run over the top! The measurement of your generosity becomes the measurement of your return.” Russell grew up on the farm in central Wyoming. After two years at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in Redding, California, God called him to be a chiropractor. He had never considered it as a profession until that time, even though he had been seen by a chiropractor since he was a teenager. He graduated from Sherman College in 2019, just in time for the world to end. He began working at Sherman in 2021, as the Development Coordinator in their philanthropy and donation efforts. As many of you know, Richelle and I graduated from Sherman.  The college is the Chiropractic center of the universe, in our opinion.  They have done so much for so many students and for the Chiropractic profession.  So, giving back to the institution that has given so much to us is vitally important.  Students are the future of the Chiropractic profession, and supporting them in their education is key to extending the philosophy, art, and science of Chiropractic to future generations. On this episode of the Mile High Podcast, you'll discover: How giving is vital to your health The best way to start giving to Sherman College Specific programs where the money goes to support the students directly How to become a regent or corporate regent The President's Circle and internships And MUCH more! Enjoy this podcast, and when you're at the Sherman Lyceum (if you aren't registered, git ‘er done) be sure to stop by and say, “Hi,” to Russell and talk to him about how you can give to Sherman College. Be sure to mark your calendar for Mile High 11 in September of 2023.

Impacting Politics on a State Level – Dr. Jarod Waters

Many years ago when Richelle and I were students at Sherman College, Reggie Gold told students that the battle for politics and philosophy in Chiropractic has moved from the school level to the state level. He said that we had to be board-busters and change our state organizations and state boards. Richelle took that to heart and has been part of changing the state board and state organization in Colorado since we arrived over 20 years ago. In this episode, you'll hear the new president of the Colorado Chiropractic Association discuss the changes that have happened and will be happening in the months ahead. People, listen to this because this in not just a Mile High State episode. It will help you have some insight about how you can make an impact in your state, in your region, or your country. While at Parker Chiropractic College, Dr. Waters fell in love with neurology. He found it fascinating to see how the nervous system from a neurological standpoint runs everything from the cells, tissues, organs, and disease processes. “I can see a change in a person right after a treatment. It drives me to see that change in somebody. It's satisfying to see someone crawl into my office and be able to walk out.” Or as his wife likes to say, “Hobble in but skip out.”   In addition to his Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Waters serves the Colorado Chiropractic Association (CCA) as current President 2021-2022 When he's not caring for patients, Dr. Waters enjoys an active family life with his wife, son, and 2 dogs. The family enjoys listening to music, going to the zoo, taking nature walks and going to thrift stores. Dr. Waters is also a Mason, Shriner, and belongs to the Scottish Rite. He also spends time officiating at high school football games and working out at a local gym. Check out the Colorado Chiropractor's Association website at http://www.coloradochiropractic.org. On this episode you'll find out about:   · What excites Dr. Jarod about Chiropractic · His journey in the Chiropractic profession · The changes at the state association level that are taking place in Colorado   Jarod's favorite quote is, “Three things that will cause disease are thoughts, trauma and toxins.” If you're not happy with some of the things you see happening in the Chiropractic profession, be the change and make changes in your state. More change is on the horizon in Colorado, and gratefully the state association has made some of those changes and is currently on the path to making more of those changes.

Dr. Irene Gold's Journey Through Chiropractic This week's special episode of The MaxLiving Podcast features guest host and MaxLiving Dr. Marc Surprenant, interviewing chiropractic legend Irene Gold, R.N, B.S., M.A., D.C. Today they discuss Dr. Irene Gold's journey through chiropractic. Contrary to popular belief, Dr. Gold didn't begin her professional career in chiropractic. Before attending chiropractic school, she spent 13 years as a registered nurse, public health nurse, and school nurse. Since then, Dr. Gold has been passionate about teaching the principle of chiropractic to the world, leading her to teach at Sherman College of Chiropractic, the Columbia Institute, & more. She reflects back on her chiropractic journey and tells the story of when she was invited to be in a debate with a well-known writer/pediatrician Dr. Robert Mendleson, a member of the CDC, and a chief hospital pediatrician. Regardless of whether or not Dr. Gold's beliefs were the audience's “popular opinion”, she stood her ground and stuck to the principles of chiropractic. She also spent time working with her husband Reggie in their chiropractic office. For every patient they saw, they made a conscious effort to educate them about subluxation and how removing it could help them function at their full potential. Healing Your Body with Chiropractic Care Everyone deserves to live a healthy life where they can function at their full potential. Why is it though that so many of us live with health issues and don't do anything about it until it's too late? In today's episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, guest host and MaxLiving Dr. Marc Surprenant and Dr. Neil Cohen of Sherman College of Chiropractic, discuss healing your body with chiropractic care. When it comes to the functioning of the body, it's important to know that it's never stagnant at 100% - it's always fluctuating and moving. One way to maintain as close to full function as possible is to prioritize the health of your spine and nervous system through chiropractic care. The nervous system is the master controller of the body, meaning it controls the functioning of all of the body's systems, organs, etc. If there's interference in the nervous system, the body won't function or heal properly, causing symptoms and disease to occur. Dr. Neil Cohen explains it best, “health isn't how you feel… it's how you heal.” Although you may feel fine, there could be interference in your body that will not only restrict your ability to function and heal, but also hold you back from being the best you can be. Take responsibility for your health with chiropractic care. Through the use of x-rays, we can pinpoint the interference in your body and perform specific chiropractic adjustments to remove it, allowing you to heal and function properly. If you know someone struggling with a health issue, share this episode with them to give insight on how chiropractic can help them feel their best. Available now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and more!
