Today we begin with Nick Fuentes—how did he go from a guy with Jewish friends, to someone who is proudly anti-Semitic? Why does “anti-Semitic” now have so many meanings? What are the differences between preference, discrimination, and bigotry? Then: Bill Gates changes his tune on climate change—or does he? His new memo still sounds the alarm about Carbon, but also privileges his pet projects of vaccinating the world and handing agriculture to the technologists. Finally: manta rays, how smart they are, how they respond to mirrors, and how much time they spend at the spa.*****Our sponsors:Branch Basics: Get 15% off Branch Basics with the code DARKHORSE at https://branchbasics.com/darkhorse #branchbasicspodFresh Pressed Olive Oil Club: Scrumptious & freshly harvested. In today's episode, we're joined by Kathleen from The Pour Over, a news outlet known for delivering the world's biggest headlines with clarity and Christian perspective. We unpack the emotional weight of our 24/7 news cycle, especially in a world where social media pulls on your emotions and algorithms scream, “Why aren't you talking about this?”. Moms are expected to stay informed, care deeply, and somehow shield their kids from the fear and confusion that often comes with breaking news. Here are some of the topics we cover: How to talk to your kids about heavy headlines without additional fear Discernment in the age of social media and video “evidence” Monitoring your time consuming the news — and its effect on your mood Staying informed while still showing the fruits of the Spirit Connect with Kathleen Wadkins: Website: Your politically neutral, Christian news source. - The Pour Over Instagram: The Pour Over | News & Perspective (@thepourovernews) Links Mentioned: Decaf - The Pour Over Subscribe for FREE to The Pour Over The Pour Over - Podcast - Apple Podcasts Related Episodes: Factual News, Flexible Thinking and Family Moral Imperatives :: Sharon McMahon [Ep 332] Do Not Grow Weary :: Sharon McMahon [Ep 495] Raising Critical Thinkers :: Julie Bogart [Ep 474] Featured Sponsors: Branch Basics: Ready to kick off your back-to-school reset? Framing sleep not as a biological necessity, but as a critical economic asset, Matt reveals that sleep deprivation costs the U.S. economy up to $411 billion annually, with billions more lost globally. These costs stem from lost workplace productivity, severe cognitive impairment equivalent to intoxication, and massive strains on healthcare and public safety systems due to chronic disease and accidents like drowsy driving.Matt provides the solution: investing in sleep as a powerful economic stimulus. Modest improvements in sleep duration could inject hundreds of billions back into the economy, with corporate sleep programs and insomnia treatments showing remarkable returns on investment. On a personal level, adequate sleep is directly linked to higher lifetime earnings and better financial decisions. The episode ultimately reframes sleep as a crucial economic investment for both personal and societal prosperity, not a sacrifice of productivity. Please note that Matt is not a medical doctor, and none of the content in this podcast should be considered medical advice in any way, shape, or form, nor prescriptive in any way.As a huge supporter of mission-driven companies, Matt recommends new partner Branch Basics. On today's episode, I'm joined by celebrity trainer and nutrition expert Harley Pasternak to debunk some of the biggest myths around carbs, fat loss, and sustainable health. We talk about why carbs aren't the enemy, how to actually approach blood sugar, and why cutting out entire food groups isn't the answer. We also dive into the rise of GLP-1 medications—how they work, who they're for, and why strength training becomes even more important if you're using them. If you've ever felt confused by diet trends, overwhelmed by conflicting info, or just want to know what actually works for staying lean without losing your mind—you're going to love this one. Founder & CEO of Elevated Medical, Dr. Avinish Reddy, joins Matt today on this very special episode to discuss a comprehensive approach to longevity. One core theme presented is the profound interconnectedness of physical, mental, and cognitive well-being, essential for true health optimization. Dr. Reddy emphasizes the striking impact of social connection: isolation can increase early death risk by 50%, comparable to smoking. He believes fostering strong social bonds is a fundamental pillar of healthcare, akin to sleep's importance. The discussion highlights advanced diagnostics and actionable lifestyle strategies. Dr. Reddy advocates for precise cardiovascular risk assessment (apoB) and early metabolic dysfunction detection (fasting insulin/OGTT), with imaging (CT/CIMT) that visualizes arterial health proactively. As you will hear, prevention must begin decades before major health events, utilizing personalized data, and lifestyle is paramount - consistent movement, balanced nutrition, quality sleep, and stress management are vital for reversing conditions and fostering resilience. Please note that Matt is not a medical doctor, and none of the content in this podcast should be considered medical advice in any way, shape, or form, nor prescriptive in any way.As a huge supporter of mission-driven companies, Matt recommends new partner Branch Basics. Mazel Morons! Today, we are FINALLY talking about THE Royal Wedding. We go from imagining Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding (horse-drawn carriages, Evite invites, and a whole lot of chair-lifting logistics) to unpacking Logan Paul's big-day marketing hustle. Along the way, we debate whether aging gracefully means dating younger, reveal Olivia's surprising celebrity crush, and answer moron mail about mothering your boyfriend, rekindling first-date sparks, and whether a Scottish club fling deserves a hometown tour. Plus: a What Are Ya Nuts? showdown that includes Josh calling out fake pre-boarders and Ben literally running out of gas.Leave us a voicemail here!Follow us on Instagram and TikTok! Today we discuss childhood, fitness, and self-defense; the through-line is freedom. First up: Illinois has become the first state in the Union to mandate mental health screening for children in grades 3 – 12, so that conditions from trauma to anxiety can be detected early. How mandatory will these screenings be? How confidential? What is anxiety, and why are children better off learning to experience and solve their own anxiety, than to be coddled at every turn? We argue that anxiety—like pain, and sadness—are signals from your brain and body that should be listened to rather than erased. Also: childhood is a time of exploration, of mixing reality with fantasy, and should not be a time when adults' fantasies are imposed on children. Then: the New York Times cannot abide that anything that RFK Jr. does or says makes sense. Finally: do people have the right to defend themselves inside their own homes? Have we forgotten habeas corpus? Are the foundations of democracy coming apart at the seams? *****Our sponsors:Branch Basics: Get 15% off Branch Basics with the code DARKHORSE at https://branchbasics.com/darkhorse #branchbasicspodJolie: Beautiful showerheads that filter out the garbage without reducing water pressure. Clear the EntrywayFirst impression zone — it matters mostScoop up shoes, boots, coats, and bags — toss into a basket/closetStraighten the rug, sweep quickly if neededEven a vase of grocery store flowers makes it feel “ready for company”3. Wipe the Bathroom Sink and Swap the Hand TowelGuests almost always use the bathroom — it's a giveaway spaceWipe toothpaste, water spots, and fingerprints off sink and mirrorReplace hand towel with a fresh, clean one (even if from the linen closet)Quick check for toilet paper roll and a candle in the corner = instant polish4. Fluff the Couch Cushions and Toss on a ThrowMessy sofa = messy house in people's mindsQuick karate-chop the pillows (design trick: makes them look plumped)Smooth cushions and throws — or just throw a blanket over a problem spotAdds a “styled on purpose” look in seconds5. Do the Dishes DashClear sink is visual shorthand for “I keep a clean house”Load dishwasher fast — no sorting, just stashNo dishwasher? Today's episode was a vulnerable one. Andrew and I have walked through some hard times in our marriage that, at the time, were honestly really rough. Looking back now, they have brought us so much closer together and we're better for it. Today we're sharing some of the hardest seasons of our marriage in hopes that it encourages anyone out there to feel less alone. NOBODY has a perfect marriage and the more open we can be with each other about the struggles, the more we can support each other to keep fighting the good fight. If you're going through a hard time in marriage just remember, It's never too late to ask for help or bring people in to walk with you through it.
