Listeners of The Writer's Way | How to Market Your Children's Book that love the show mention: laurie wright,The Writer's Way | How to Market Your Children's Book podcast is an absolute treasure for aspiring children's book authors. Hosted by Laurie Wright, who is not only an author but also a successful self-publisher, this podcast provides invaluable insights and guidance for those venturing into the world of self-publishing.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is its ability to truly open your eyes to the amount of work and effort that goes into self-publishing a children's book. From the very first episode, Laurie dives deep into the behind-the-scenes process, covering topics such as writing, illustrating, editing, marketing, and more. The podcast consistently offers practical advice and strategies that can be immediately implemented in your own journey as an author.
Another standout feature is the guest interviews. Laurie brings on a wide range of authors who share their experiences and wisdom in navigating the children's book industry. These interviews provide valuable insights into alternative methods and approaches to publishing that may not have been considered before. Whether it's discussing unique marketing strategies or unconventional paths to success, these interviews offer inspiration and motivation to keep pushing forward.
If there was one minor downside to this podcast, it would be that occasionally some episodes may feel repetitive if you've already listened to previous ones. However, even in these instances, Laurie always manages to deliver something new or provide further clarity on a particular topic. Furthermore, repetition can sometimes be beneficial when it comes to reinforcing important concepts.

On the third day of Christmas my true Laurie gave to me....
Something we all hear often from authors is that they don't know where to start, which is what keeps them STUCK! Overwhelmed with analysis paralysis- because they technically KNOW all that they should be doing, but they just don't know HOW to get started. Last week Laurie shared an overall book marketing strategy childrens authors can use, and what she helps authors implement. Today Laurie walks you through the logistics of how you can set it all up!Join the Facebook groupGet the companion emailsGet the Email Kit

Written by Becca Syme, 'Dear Writer, You Need To Quit' isn't specifically written for childrens authors, but is definitely still applicable. This book is part of a whole "Dear Writer' series which is a very cool premise. This one has 15 chapters on things you should QUIT, and those are bookended by 'The Bad news' at the beginning and 'The Good News' at the end!Have a look at her other books on her site BetterFasterAcademy.com and have a listen to her podcast, The Quitcast.Want the notes, and more? Welcome to Season FOUR! Over the past 3 years we've done a variety of things on here.. we started with interviews and spent over a year listening to interviews with other indie authors of varying experience about how they made it happen for themselves. Then we started to have more specific topics on the show, and I went looking for guests who could speak to things like seasonal books, rapid release and how it related to childrens books, diversity in childrens literature and loads more. During the pandemic my recording schedule got messed up right along with our lives, and I fell off the podcasting wagon. But I miss it when I don't do it. I miss helping in this way. This summer I put my thinking cap on and tried hard to figure out how I could put out consistent shows that were helpful and valuable, and of course about my fav topic MARKETING! I think I've come up with a good system for this season, a way to keep me on track and teaching YOU. Listen to the show to hear more!
