The Great Resignation has focused primarily on employees who are lower wage workers employed in service industries. As with any major societal shift that occurs, we often find ourselves asking why? Whether it is poor working conditions, burnout, low wages, or more attractive job opportunities, the reasons are abundant but the goal is the same. People have been exiting their jobs in record numbers in search of something better and more meaningful. An often missed aspect of this resignation is the realization that it is not just the working class exiting en masse. More executives and managers have been leaving their leadership roles for reasons that are solely all financially driven. According to MarketWatch, nearly 39 million people have quit their jobs in 2021; recent figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show 4.16 million professionals departed in October, a slight dip from September's record haul of 4.36 million.
Frequent Dad 2.0 contributor Julie Nowell started 3C Consulting in order to inspire a slow, boring, disciplined business ethic among the influencers she hires for brand partnerships. She sees an industry that was primed for a reset cruising back into high gear between smarter brands and rejuvenated creatives. If you've spent some time on the sidelines, it's time to reconnect with agencies, editors, and other professionals who are still offering good work to platforms of all sizes. And Julie has some great insights into what they all want and how to keep them knocking on your door.

If there is one industry that can be tough to understand, especially if you are doing it legally, it would be the cannabis industry. Those who are in the medical cannabis business know how it can be challenging to understand the regulatory risks and compliance, to name a few. Stepping right in to help businesses and investors navigate this complex and new industry, https://www.linkedin.com/in/niceasley/ (Nic Easley) founded https://www.linkedin.com/company/comprehensive-cannabis-consulting-3c-/ (3C Consulting, LLC). He joins Bob Roark and https://www.linkedin.com/in/jaime-nespor-zawmon-b861731/ (Jaime Zawmon) of Titan CEO this episode to share with us what goes on behind the scenes of this business as CEO, highlighting what characteristics will make one a Titan of Industry. Nic then gives some advice about leading and building a great business, no matter what industry. --- Watch the episode here:[embed]https://youtu.be/9iEQcvXuA7A[/embed] Navigating The Complex Medical Cannabis Industry With Nic Easley, Founder & CEO of 3C Consulting And Co-host Jaime Zawmon of TitanCEOIn this episode, we have our special cohost Jaime Zawmon. She is the Founder and President of https://www.titanceo.com/ (Titan CEO) and our guest is Nic Easley. He's the Founder and CEO of https://www.3ccannabis.com/ (3C Consulting) and he’s the Managing Director of https://www.multiversecap.com/ (Multiverse Capital). Jaime, Nic, welcome. Thanks for making the time. We were privileged by you taking the time and sharing your experience and wisdom with us. With that being said, if you would, tell us about your business and who you serve. I've been in the legal cannabis industry for many years. Originally, I was an Air Force Linguist and I speak a few languages. I was from the farm county Wisconsin. After the military, I got hurt after about four years and came to Colorado. Medical cannabis was legal in 2006 or 2007 and I got my first medical card. I saw how people were growing and was disgusted by pesticides and indoor lights which is very unsustainable, non-environmental and not safe for patients. I started my business many years ago to help the cannabis industry form in a responsible way. As you see it now being over a $30 billion industry, which is a drop in the bucket for where this would go. It was to help companies understand the regulatory risks and compliance of navigating this brand-new industry that is a medical product. It's an adult-use product, but then also getting into the hemp industry and making papers, plastics and fibers. Helping businesses and investors navigate this complex and new industry is how we established ourselves. What are the typical issues that a client you're serving now has that you were able to solve their problems? I'm trying to paint a picture in the reader's mind of what's your clients and who your clients are? One of the challenges with cannabis is that it's federally illegal and each state has come up with its own medical or adult-use program. At the end of 2020, we have sixteen adult-use states where 21 and older consumption and possession is legal and we have 47 states with some medical laws on their books. About 37 of those are also having medical sales. In a normal business, you're like, “I want to open a gas station or a restaurant,” you would have that state's Department of Health to deal with. When it comes to cannabis, each program is different. I'm working on applications right now in the State of Georgia. Eleven million people are giving six licenses for cultivation for eleven million-person marketplace. It can be competitive. How does a client build a team, put their financial models together and start to raise capital? Put together thousands of pages of voluminous application content about the standards of DEA cages and vaults that they might need or video recording or production plants based on the Georgia Department of Agriculture requirements. We help people that...
Victoria: Hey everyone, it’s Sensei Victoria Whitfield here, your journey partner in business, welcoming you back to episode 143 of the Journeypreneur Podcast. This is your source for channeled holistic stress management techniques, guidance, inspiration and motivation to stay on your path to rapid financial ascension and massive impact as a conscious entrepreneur. So, in this podcast episode, I have the honor of getting to share with you someone who has been in my life for years and years, who keeps me smiling, who is a truth teller. She is full of wisdom. She's a published author, executive development strategist, is the CEO, award winning film producer and a wife to author. Well, we love you. Will was your watching and listening. And she is my friend Cornelia Shipley. Welcome to the podcast. Cornelia: Thank you for having me, Miss Victoria. It's good to be here. It's good to see you. It's been a couple of years since I've gotten a chance to see you in person when we get uncovid-ed hopefully we can get that fixed. So, it's good to see you. Victoria: Absolutely. As I miss our hugs and spending time together, all that energy well in person is always off the charts. And everyone you can find Cornelia at 3Cconsulting.com, that's the number three, the letter C as in “cat” consulting dotcom. So, Cornelia, I love you. You love me. We're good. Right? And this may be the very first time that someone is seeing you or hearing about you. And I was wondering if you could, in your own words, share what it is, exactly what you do, but especially what are the three things that you're known for. Could you tell us? Cornelia: Sure. So, I'm a firm obviously called 3C Consulting. We specialize in the retention and advancement of mission critical talent. So, we work in large organizations helping them think through their succession planning processes, their development processes, their diversity and inclusion processes, which is you can imagine recording this less than a week since the Wisconsin incident that there's a lot going on and prior Jacobs family, obviously. And so the three things I think I'm known for, especially in terms of the work I do with entrepreneurs and the work I do with people, one on one is one that I live a life that I've designed to that that if you're looking for someone who is going to help you get unstuck quickly and understand how your thinking is impacting your inability to act, that I'm a person that gets that phone call. And then if you're really ready to move quickly and are ready to have to have that very quick turnaround moment of saying how did I get here and get ready to move beyond that, I'm the person that that entrepreneurs would call. Victoria: I can vouch for that. My gut is when I talk to you, you're like, oh, no, you need to do this. And then how it's like rocket fuel. I love it and I love you just the way you are. Oh, my goodness. And this gets me curious, though, because you are so powerful at what you do, right? You literally wrote the book Design Your Life, by the way, everyone available on Amazon, go check it out and you live it. You practice what you preach. And I'm curious, like, what inspired you to start this business, to start your firm in the first place? Like, is there a story or something you realize? Cornelia: Yeah. So, the story goes the design your life piece of the story goes back to two thousand and three. And the business part of it started in 06. So, in 2003, I was a graduate student living in Australia at the time. And if anyone has traveled to that region of the world, you know that they have that whole kind of no worries attitude. And if you remember, in 03, we were in the middle of one of our Iraq wars. And so, it was interesting living abroad as an American in that time and seeing news abroad, news at that time and seeing really how other people live. And it was it was really striking to me how I thought I had a good life in America. And then I went to Australia and was like, oh, there's more I didn't realize. I did not know. And so, because I was studying strategic planning in my MBA program, I really wanted to write a book about how people could strategically. And for their life, instead of planning for their business, I came back, I graduated, started working, and like most people, life happened to me. And so, in 2006, I was in the right job, in the right location. That was the job that was going to set me up for the big job. Right. And for those people who are corporate refugees or retirees or whatever, you remember those days. And so, for me, in the middle of that job, I had two things happen. Within about six months, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and my father had a stroke and my father had a stroke on June the 5th, two thousand and six, and went to bed. He didn't he didn't know. He didn't feel well. And then he woke up the next morning, got medical treatment, and by the end of the 6th of June, he was paralyzed on one side of his body. And so, at that point, I was living fifteen hundred miles away from my family and I'm an only child. So that wasn't going to work with a mom with breast cancer and a dad who couldn't move half of his body. It was time for me to go. So, I quit my job. I had great support from the organization I work for at the time and that happened in June. I left the company on Halloween was my last day of work and it was October thirty first two thousand and six. And I started working with our first corporate client, November 14th of two thousand six. And so, I was able to really navigate caring for my parents and growing a business at the same time. Would you like to learn how to design your Life, in both business and personally? Cornelia is the founder of 3C Consulting which is a leadership development firm specializing in executive coaching, leadership development programming customized to organizations, strategic planning and internal coach training certifications and capability training. By enhancing the three C’s: Clarity, Capability, and Capacity, we help organizations get empowered to exceed their organization objectives and desired outcomes. Cornelia’s first book Design Your Life: How to Create a Meaningful Life, Advance Your Career and Live Your Dreams, began in Melbourne Australia in 2003 while she was in graduate school. She was struck by the no worries attitude of the culture, and how they designed their experience moment by moment. So many design their life based on the shoulds in their life and defining their success based on someone else's terms. Inspired, she then began writing about the concept of strategically planning one’s life, to suit their lifestyle, and how they want to live. In 2006, while she was living and working in New Mexico in the “right” job, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, and her father took a stroke. As an only child, and with her parents living 1500 miles away in Detroit Michigan, Cornelia had to make a change and move back home to support them. It was then that she began her consulting business. It was very important to her to set up her business so that her lifestyle choices could be accommodated no matter what was going on. In fact, just 5 days after her wedding, Cornelia's mother sadly passed away unexpectedly, and as a result of her choice to create her business based on the way she wanted to live, she was able to take 3 ½ weeks off to support her father and family in that time of need, instead of relying on the 3 days for bereavement leave that is commonly awarded to employees in the corporate world. In addition to catering to organizations, Cornelia’s company also works with 10-12 entrepreneurs during a calendar year where the first step is to help them make the shift from owning a “job” to owning a business. This process includes everything from outsourcing to the right people with the right skills, pricing per value instead of pricing per hour, leverage, infrastructure and most importantly, structuring the business so that they own their business rather than the business owning them. Cornelia’s next book, Empowered: Strategies for Executive Level Success, was written using 90 minute book .com, where you literally write a book in 90 minutes, either as a narrative, or an interview. She now has blocks off time to do additional editing and will release it at the end of August of this year. Quotes: “You can train for skill, you can’t train for character.” ~Cornelia Shipley “Your brain is only programmed to have focussed attention for 30, 60 or 90 minutes - the sitcom, the drama and the movie.” ~Cornelia Shipley Cornelia Shares her Message Here: “My team and I take a unique approach to cultivating human potential. Many training and development organizations focus on providing more knowledge and information with the thought that better results will follow. We know that what matters most is a designed approach to development that is aligned to the desired outcomes and objectives of the organization. Our programs are based in systems theory and our unique strategic planning process and development programs are designed to unlock leaders innate confidence and knowledge to create and take designed action that will ultimately lead them to their desired outcome. We leverage the power of your values, processes, culture and people and get them all moving together to create accelerated growth and development of the entire organization.
