“Imagine a humanoid educator named “Plato”… Access to the classical studies is now instantaneous: literature, science, art, philosophy, mathematics, and history. Humanity's entire corpus of information is available in the comfort of your home.”— Melania Trump, FuturistAh, yes, I can't wait for my children to learn from an embodied AI. And that their access to everything be “instantaneous.” No struggle. No unreliable (fleshy) teachers. Just an embodied AI stuffed with the “entire corpus of information.” What an inspiring vision!Regular listeners to Future Around & Find Out will know that I'm a fan of robots (think: self-driving cars), but really don't understand why they need arms and legs (whether dog- or human-shaped). Well, as you may have seen our fever dream of AI with arms and legs reached the White House, with Melania and “Figure 3” competing to see which one could walk and talk more haltingly. (The robot was more engaging to listen to.) The robot was there, along with a patronizing display of first spouses from around the world, for a summit on education technology. So Kwaku and I use it as a jumping off point for this week's FAFO Friday (yes, delivered on a Saturday) this week. Kwaku, a tech consultant to many schools, and I discuss this insatiable need for humanoid robots, AI, and instant gratification. Emily is an author and speaker with over 20 years of experience coaching multigenerational families, with a focus on blended family dynamics and family business succession. As a coach and consultant assists clients in effectively communicating about complex situations and building, maintaining, and repairing trust across generations. As a fractional Chief Learning Officer, she designs personalized learning experiences that focus on lifelong growth, emotional intelligence, and financial acumen. In the world of family wealth, and more generally wealth and money, trust – building trust, earning trust, inspiring trust – is of paramount importance.
