Do all Amblin films take place in the same universe? Why doesn't Astoria have a social safety net? We have something a little different on today's Cryptid Creator Corner, but I think it's a conversation you are really going to enjoy. I'm chatting with Aaron Waltke, the Co-Executive Producer and Co-Head Writer for Season Two of Star Trek: Prodigy, which is available now on Netflix. I have been a fan of Star Trek for as long as I can remember. Star Trek: The Next Generation started when I was 8 years old and I was hooked. I started watching Star Trek: Prodigy with my 11 year old daughter Charlotte and we both loved it: the characters, the fun of it all, the adventure, so I was delighted to chat with Aaron about Prodigy and being in the writer's room and now co-Head Writer for Season Two. But don't worry if you tune in for comics talk because Aaron wrote one of the stories in this year's How to Lose a Guy Gardner in 10 Days and we discuss how that opportunity came about and how he approached writing Red Tornado.  I hope you give this one a listen and indulge me as I nerd out with a fellow Trekkie and be sure to watch Season One and Season Two of Star Trek: Prodigy now on Netflix.  From Netflix After discovering an abandoned Starfleet ship, a ragtag crew of young adventurers unites to explore the galaxy and evade a ruthless overlord. Our episode sponsors After the Realm Don't miss Eisner and Harvey award winning comics creator Michael Avon Oeming's newest crowdfunding project After The Realm. With over 300 pages of material and 22 new pages of story, this graphic novel collects issues 1-5 of this realm trotting dystopian fantasy adventure that follows young ranger Oona Lightfoot's travels and travails trying to find her best friend as the nine realms are torn asunder.  Arkenforge Play TTRPG games? Anthony and Laurie catch up on all the news from August including Paramount’s plans from Star Trek Day and some Trek celebrity plans for some picket line counterprogramming. Much of the news covers updates on Star Trek: Prodigy including Aaron Waltke’s update on season 2 (and hopes for season 3) and the latest fan campaign efforts including the aerial banner. The podcasters also pick up on Strange New Worlds ratings, comments from showrunners on season 3, and discussion talk about the Gorn, of course. The featured topic for the podcast is previewing the upcoming fourth season of Lower Decks, premiering next week. We get an update with Tony’s interview with supervising director Barry Kelly talking about what’s new for season 4 including how T’Lyn makes the show “10% funnier.” The podcasters go over all the trailers and previews to offer thoughts on what has them most excited about the upcoming season with the general consensus that it looks to be one of the best yet. They close things out with their bits of the week with Tony hoping an effort to get Leonard Nimoy on a US postal stamp pays off and Laurie reporting on her odd discussions with ChatGPT about Jewish characters in Star Trek.
