The 2024 presidential election is now under 100 days away, amid one of the fastest-moving and least predictable campaign seasons in memory. A historic past month has upended the race, starting with President Joe Biden's poor performance at the CNN debate, then an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, and finally Biden's decision to exit the contest and “pass the torch” to Vice President Kamala Harris. The post Lt. Gov. Robinson must address allegations of 2020 campaign finance wrongdoing appeared first on NC Newsline.
Special Counsel Jack Smith's team, in a low-profile move, pulled back a second subpoena issued in relation to ex-President Donald Trump's 2020 campaign, as reported last week. The New York Times offered insight that the original subpoena was a component of an ongoing investigation into potential unlawful activities associated with Mr. Trump's political and monetary agenda, put in place to help ensure his continued tenure post-election. These allegations come from individuals who are privy to the situation. This decision to retract the subpoena closely follows the team's prior announcement of withdrawing a similar demand made on 'Save America', the Political Action Committee (PAC) established by Trump's advisors post his 2020 election defeat. Opinions from various information outlets suggest that the act of withdrawing two subpoenas, targeting documents from Donald J. Trump for President Inc. and the Save America PAC, could hint that Smith may be decelerating his examination into whether Trump's political machinery violated laws by alleging widespread 2020 election fraud. Alternatively, they suggest the possibility of part of the protracted inquiry being shut down by Smith and his team. The first media notification of retracting the subpoena for 'Save America' documents was courtesy of The Washington Post.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

How does a Presidential campaign target voters with ads online? In this episode, we talk to Megan Clasen of the Biden 2020 campaign about the role of digital political ads when campaigning in the US today. Listen to Megan discuss how the Biden 2020 campaign was able to target specific persuasion messages to the relevant voters and how digital political ads have evolved from her first campaign, Hillary Clinton's 2016 Presidential campaign, to working on JB Pritzker's campaign for the Governor of Illinois in 2018 to working for Kamala Harris and then Joe Biden's campaigns for President in 2020. Megan also discusses what it feels like to be on the frontlines of fighting misinformation on social media as well as her experience as a female entrepreneur by starting Gambit Strategies, a social media advertising consulting firm, this past year. Guest bio: Megan Clasen recently started her own firm, Gambit Strategies, after working in digital advertising for over 10 years, from the largest brand advertisers in the country to multiple presidential campaigns, and all the way up and down the ballot. Most recently, she was a senior paid media advisor to Joe Biden's campaign, leading their digital advertising work and executing the largest digital ads program ever run by a Democratic campaign. Prior to that, she led JB Pritzker's digital efforts in his successful campaign for governor in Illinois, which Politico called “The Best Campaign Money Can Buy” and recognized as the “Best Online Advertising Campaign” at the 2019 Reed Awards. In this episode, Laura Reeves chats with Good Dog's leadership team (Lauren McDevitt, Chief Experience Officer, Cat Matloub, Head of Partnerships, Community & Legal Affairs, and Monica DeBosscher, Head of Partner Strategy) about Good Dog's 2020 Campaign to End Online Puppy Scams. Cat gives some examples of the types of scams she has seen in the dog world. With COVID-19, the number of pet-related scams has increased significantly. And in a world full of scammers, Good Dog is on a mission to protect our breeders and puppy buyers, which means using tech expertise to eliminate these scams. The Good Dog team speaks about the challenges when it comes to holding both buyers and breeders responsible for their actions. This frequently happens in the payment stage of the transaction - where one party will back out of an agreed payment, leaving the other party helpless. This is heartbreaking - for the victim and for the puppy. Part of Good Dog's goal is to bring world-class technology and security to the dog world in the form a breeder-focused payment system. A system that won't punish breeders when they get scammed, but rather that will completely support the transaction. Good Dog wants to take away having to think about payment when dealing with something as precious as a dog. The more a breeder can focus on making a good match for their puppy, and less time worrying about money, the better the experience will be for everyone. Monica discusses why dealing with scams as a breeder can be so difficult (and sometimes impossible to challenge). That's why Good Dog stands behind every transaction. She gives a couple examples of how using payments through Good Dog has saved breeders thousands of dollars. Lauren talks about how payments through Good Dog is different from something like PayPal, and how it technically works to protect both breeders and buyers. Portland's city council just passed its yearly budget, and things got ugly. This week, we unpack the budget, and how it's setting the stage for a very unpleasant 2020 campaign season in Oregon's largest city.
It was inevitable with this podcast that I would begin to spend a little more time talking with journalists as they stream through Iowa, the site of the first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses, on the 2020 campaign trail. Christopher Cadelago of Politico popped up on my radar after he filed a surprise story from the depths of a furious blizzard that stranded him in the middle of rural Iowa: "My bone-chilling adventure trying to cover Kamala Harris in Iowa." Suffice it to say that Cadelago was lucky to share the Oscars telecast and goulash with Mike and Janet Shock after they rescued the Californian from his snowbound rental car in nothing more than a paper-thin jacket. But this isn't an interview about road safety. Cadelago and I dove into numerous issues of modern political coverage, including the climate for reporters (where they get both booed and pestered for autographs) and how the rise of new partisan media affects his job. Thanks for listening to Journalists Are My Heroes, the podcast that talks to working journalists and journalism advocates everywhere. Back in 2000, when Donald Trump was considering a presidential run on the Reform Party ticket, he told Fortune, "It's very possible that I could be the first presidential candidate to run and make money on it." And though it's hard to say whether Trump has actually managed to turn a profit (at least not without getting a look at his tax returns), according to his re-election campaign's FEC filings, Donald Trump is sure as hell trying his best.
