Mediation has been the path of insight, understanding and transformation at least as far back as the Buddha. Millenia of meditation practice by millions of people have illuminated the path and cultivated effective practices to support both new and seasoned meditators. Being and Doing are often seem as two entirely different states. But the journey of wholeness is largely about learning to rest in Beingness and to let the many aspects of “doing” flow from there without attachment to how the doing unfolds. In this fourth in the Journey of Wholeness series with Meditation teacher & psycho-spiritual therapist Alex Boianghu, we discuss how the “doing” self likes to think of itself as the star of your life, but how it is the knowing quality of the non-local you who uses thought, sensation and emotion to experience through you that is the “true” you! We are conditioned beings, and painful conditioning like trauma cause contractions in the body that can lead to symptoms and discomfort. In fact, every perception of self, every belief, every old painful memory is stored in the body and creates a frozen holding pattern or contraction that shapes your mental emotional and physical experience. Disentangling from contractions and conditioning is the path of inner freedom and the experience of wholeness. The mystery of the immaterial world informs and creates our material experience. This means that you and your life experience are manifested from your immaterial Being, not your egoic self. As you align with and rest in Beingness, life's magic comes to the surface, suffering recedes, addictions fade and you come into a rhythm where you flow with life rather than trying to get life to conform to your conditioned desires. A little about Alex: Being a psychotherapist for over 30 years, Alex had the honor and privilege of working with individuals, couples, and families providing holistic support for all of life's challenges. He deeply loves what he does, and brings all his education, experience, and above of all, compassion and understanding to help you understand yourself. From Alex's perspective, the goal of therapy is to let go of outdated ways of living that make you feel “stuck” or “in survival mode”, so that one can live in freedom, joy and success. His approach is holistic, in the sense that everything that is happening in your life is viewed as a doorway towards understanding yourself more intimately and ultimately healing what needs to be healed, awakening your own inner resources and capabilities in order to live with exuberance. We are all here to thrive—and that is his mission with you. Throughout his life, He has been continuously educating himself into the best practices for what you need — academically, by continuing education on with cutting-edge research on psychotherapy, as well as experientially, by being devoted to the ongoing journey into ever greater levels of authenticity into his own Being. Alex is trained in both Eastern and Western psychology and philosophy, and I approach therapy in a way that integrates insights from both traditions. In addition, He has specialized in addiction and trauma treatment for the last 12 years and incorporates EMDR method (Eye Movement Desensitization and Re-processsing) as the cutting-edge tool towards healing. He is also trained as a Couples' Therapist and work with couples through all stages of relationship in helping them understand and heal themselves within the context of relationship. Finally, He is a certified yoga instructor and meditation teacher, guiding others on their spiritual journey. YOUhttps://journeytowholeness.health/faqs/

This week, Taylor takes an adventure with therapist and EMDR specialist, Alex Boianghu, a master of using compassion and awareness to help people process trauma and move on to brighter futures. Alex talks about impermanence and how a revelation in his youth caused him to view life and time very differently, as well as the pillars of consciousness alive inside us all, the effects of environment upon the way we think, feel and live, and how we must embrace a new type of consciousness - one that will allow our lives to be experienced in far richer ways. KEY TAKEAWAYS Nobody gets out of life unscathed or unconditioned. We all suffer the bruises and scars of life's journey. The notion of living a perfect life without issue does not exist. The sooner we realise this, the sooner we find harmony. There are three different "K" aspects of consciousness happening inside us all, at all times: Knowing, The Knower, and The Known. The nervous system is the mediator between the internal world and the environment around us. The nervous system is influenced and shaped as far back as pre-birth, when the mother's state can shape the feelings of her child in utero, leading to long-lasting effects throughout life. Those who do not feel a sense of self or stability, are generally those who have tried, and failed, to fit their existence, their consciousness, into some cookie-cutter shape of what society tells us is the right path. BEST MOMENTS 'At a really early age I experienced some deep insights. One of the major insights was of impermanence' 'The two worlds of east and west have a completely different idea of what consciousness is' 'It's incredible that still to this day, we think that we're somehow an isolated being - an island unto ourselves' 'We apply the same unconscious material, and what's driving that is a deep existential experience or feeling that something is wrong with me' 'We're letting go on conditionality, we're letting go of separation, and starting to experience the intimacy of the now' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Adventures Of Self Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the.adventures.of.self/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/The.Adventures.of.Self ABOUT THE GUEST Alex Boianghu is a dedicated and gifted therapist with over 30 years of study and practice. Following on from episode 8 where we spoke to Alex Boianghu he recommended a book by Cheri Huber called There's Nothing Wrong With You. Lucy read the book and found it so helpful and insightful she wanted to share the wisdom with you all. We start the episode by explaining how we've recently bought Moldavite, what it is and how its effected us so far... In this episode Lucy covers some parts of the book with Cheryl (who hasn't read it) to get her thoughts on the concepts. Going through the book really highlighted how Self-Hate has become such a big part of all of our lives and explains how we can overcome Self-Hate to live happier. It discusses how self-hate forms, the ego and egocentricity. The importance of showing compassion to ourselves and how conditioning and socialization plays such a big part in the forming of self-hate. Next week we will conclude the discussion of this book. The book is so amazing, we aren't being paid to advertise it we just thought it would be good to share the wisdom from it with you all.
