    The season three premiere of the GreatHER Purpose Podcast had the honor of interviewing, Rev. Dr. Kimberly Davis! Dr. Davis is a Chicago native and a Chicago Police Officer since 2003. She is an experienced pastoral counselor, chaplain and law enforcement professional with a passion for providing expert counseling service to law enforcement agencies. Kimberly earned her Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, in Pastoral Care and Counseling. She also has a Masters in Divinity degree from Chicago Theological Seminary and her undergraduate degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Kimberly is the Chapter Chaplain of NOBLE Chicago Metropolitan Chapter and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. At United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, Kimberly is leading a cohort called “Pastoral Care and Ethics in the Age of Black Lives Matter.” The class is a 3 year hybrid program and is geared towards people who would like to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community. This excellent Doctorate of Ministry program begins in August 2021. After completion of the program, the students would have a usable model of ministry within their respective ministerial context. They will also be able to strengthen community relationships. The areas addressed include, but are not limited to, pastoral care in police/law enforcement marriages, pastoral care when officers are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty, pastoral care when civilians die in the control of officers. During this day and age, these types of conversations need to be had by a professional police officer, Chaplain, Doctor and professor who works in the city of Chicago on a daily basis. Her areas of expertise include individual and marriage counseling, crisis ministry, workshop facilitation as well as department requests for on-the-scene crisis intervention. She advocates and addresses psychological, spiritual, and developmental needs of law enforcement personnel and to related parties. Kimberly has been a natural fit in the Chaplains' Police Unit since 2011. She is a deacon in full connection to the United Methodist Church, Northern Illinois Conference and she is active in ministry in her local church. Kimberly's husband and life partner, Mark, is also a Chicago Police Officer.
