One Piece Chapter 1144 is out now and this week we discuss the building that Vegapunk found that is three Millenia old?! We also talk about how screwed the Celestial dragons are now that Dorry, Broggy, and Scopper Gaban are on the move!
We deep dive right back into some nostalgia with this weeks recap and revisit the fresh into the Millenia classic, Miss Congeniality. Starring Sandra Bullock, Michael Caine, William Shatner and Candice Bergen. Sandra is always a vibe. We're never mad about it. However, this movie is very late 90's early 2000's. Girl needs a makeover so boy sees her for HER. But this girl has a gun. Several actually. Because this is America.
Two friends were shopping for a laptop in an electronics store when they ran into basketball great Shaquille O’Neal. Aware that O’Neal recently suffered the loss of his sister and a former teammate, they empathetically offered their condolences. After the two men returned to their shopping, Shaq approached them and told them to pick out the nicest laptop they could find. He then bought it for them, simply because they saw him as a person going through a difficult time and was moved by their kindness. Millenia before that encounter, Solomon wrote, “Those who are kind benefit themselves” (Proverbs 11:17). When we consider others’ needs and do what we can to help and encourage them, we are rewarded ourselves. It may not be with a laptop or material things, but God has ways of blessing us that this world cannot measure. As Solomon explained just two verses earlier in the same chapter, “A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth” (v. 16). There are blessings that are worth far more than money, and God measures them generously in His perfect wisdom and way. Kindness and generosity are part of God’s character, and He loves to see them expressed in our own hearts and lives. Solomon summed up the matter well: “Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (v. 25).
The climate emergency is impacting our entire eco-sphere. Plants are at the core of every food chain but we have no idea how fast they can adapt to changes that are taking place in decades where once they took Millenia. Which is where human ingenuity and intervention could be game-changing. If we put our minds to it, could we help plants to evolve in ways that serve the entire web of life? In this regard, Dr Shane Simonsen is someone who has oriented his entire life to making sure that we have the right seeds to grow the food we'll need as industrial agriculture grinds to a halt.In this regard, Dr Shane Simonsen is someone who has oriented his entire life to making sure that we have the right seeds to grow the food we'll need as industrial agriculture grinds to a halt. Shane has a prodigious output. When he's not writing his substack on Zero Input Agriculture - this means no water, fertiliser or pesticides, and the former of these is seriously impressive when you know he lives in subtropical Australia - or recording his Going to Seed podcast with Joseph Lofthouse, or writing Taming the Apocalypse as a non-fiction view of how the world could be if we got it right, or converting this into fiction in Our Vitreous Womb… when he's not doing all of this, Shane is farming in the aforesaid sub-tropical zone of Australia, exploring the means of production in their most grounded sense; creating parrot-resistant maize or hybrids from Bunya Nuts and Parana Pines - species that haven't been on the same continent together since the tectonic plates last shifted and Australia became separate from South America. Shane is a polymath's polymath: he has a PhD in biochemistry which means he can trace down ideas to their roots and then extrapolate back up and join them with other ideas to create something new. He celebrates the old gentleman scientists of Victorian times who may have been innately colonial products of the trauma culture, but they played at science, they did things that weren't obviously oriented to producing the next paper or winning the race to the next patent: they had fun, they followed their intuition and most of the really big advances in our technologies arise from them. Shane is also aware that most of the big advances in human evolution came when we were under serious pressure as a species.... kind of like we are now. So he's made it his life's task to find ways we can feed ourselves with low technology in a changing world. What species will survive and how might they grow? What hybrids can we intentionally create that will open up new spaces of possibility? How can we - how will we - transform ourselves in this changing world? Cliffs rose out of the lake ahead of us and soon towered a few dozen feet above our heads. Millenia of waves had worked their way into weaker layers of rock and then continued to enlarge them grain by grain. Some hollows were still tiny, but others formed deep alcoves. They spoke of the power of persistence. As we rounded one corner, a sea arch with one leg out in the lake framed our view. In another spot, multiple caves had coalesced into a maze we could paddle through. After hours on the water, we returned to dry land to find food and shade. Taking our dessert to-go, we sat at a picnic table with a view of the lake and remarked about just how restful and healing the day had been. The combination of soaking in sunshine; gazing at and jumping in clean water; feeling awe at the ancient rocks; and admiring the beauty of life, had worked a special kind of magic on our moods.

Hello Interactors,I recently read an intriguing article about unexpected forms of life thriving deep within the Earth's crust. These discoveries are revitalizing environmental theories and processes that mainstream science has long tried to dismiss—yet I've been exploring them over the past few summers. While working outside, I realized that some of these processes are unfolding right under my nose...and possibly even inside it!On that note, this might sound a bit awkward, but...Let's dig in!WORLDWIDE WEATHERING WHISPERSI'm behind on my pressure washing. This can have detrimental effects here in the predominantly damp Northwest as moss spores, tiny lightweight travelers, are lifted and lofted by the wind's wings until they land on damp concrete. A new home for moss to roam.Upon contact, the spores absorb moisture and germinate, developing into a protonema — fine lines of sprawling verdant vines. As the structure crawls through the creviced concrete an anchored lace unfolds. Atop it grows a carpet of green and gold, down below tentacles grab hold. The rhizoid roots anchor mounding moss, absorbing food and water nature has tossed. As the concrete crumbles into nutrient stores, the soft moss blossoms with chromophores. Over time, atop the luscious mountains and rocky moistened pours, the wind releases more lofting spores. It turns out the contrasting boundary between soft squishy plants and hard concrete is as pronounced as the divisions between the disciplines of biology and geology. But advances in Earth System Science are starting blur these boundaries, as integrative science tends to do. Like moss softening concrete. My expansive moss colonies, part of the plant kingdom, house communities of tiny microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, and microscopic animals like rotifers and tardigrades. Many of these communities have symbiotic relationships with moss. For example, some bacteria promote moss growth through the production of the plant growth hormone auxin using specific enzymes in plant tissues. As the moss and its associated microbes grow and expand, they can penetrate small cracks or pores in the concrete, potentially widening them and exposing more surface area to weathering processes. This can be accelerated by certain bacteria and fungi that produce organic acids as metabolic byproducts. These acids can slowly dissolve or weaken calcium carbonate and other minerals found in concrete. The biogeochemistry contributing to rock weathering and sediment formation reveals the intricate connections between biological processes and geological phenomena. At massive space and time scales they can not only affect the meteorological conditions above ground, but also the layers of sediment below ground. In a recent New York Times piece, Ferris Jabr, author of “Becoming Earth: How Our Planet Came to Life” reveals how“Within the forest floor [of the Amazon rainforest], vast symbiotic networks of plant roots and filamentous fungi pull water from the soil into trunks, stems and leaves. As the nearly 400 billion trees in the Amazon drink their fill, they release excess moisture, saturating the air with 20 billion tons of water vapor each day. At the same time, plants of all kinds secrete salts and emit bouquets of pungent gaseous compounds. Mushrooms, dainty as paper parasols or squat as door knobs, exhale plumes of spores. The wind sweeps bacteria, pollen grains and bits of leaves and bark into the atmosphere. The wet breath of the forest — peppered with microscopic life and organic residues — creates conditions that are highly conducive to rain. With so much water vapor in the air and so many minute particles on which the water can condense, clouds quickly form. In a typical year, the Amazon generates around half of its own rainfall.”Below ground, he describes work by Earth scientist Robert Hazen and colleagues.“When Earth was young, microbes inhabiting the ocean crust were likely dissolving the basalt with acids and enzymes in order to obtain energy and nutrients, producing wet clay minerals. By lubricating the crust with those wet byproducts, the microbes may have accelerated the dissolution of both mantle and crust and their eventual transfiguration into new land. The geophysicists Dennis Höning and Tilman Spohn have published similar ideas. They point out that water trapped in subducting sediments escapes first, whereas water in the crust is typically expelled at greater depths. The thicker the sedimentary layer covering the crust, the more water makes it into the deep mantle, which ultimately enhances the production of granite. In Earth's earliest eons, micro-organisms and, later, fungi and plants dissolved and degraded rock at a rate much greater than what geological processes could accomplish on their own.In doing so, they would have increased the amount of sediment deposited in deep ocean trenches, thereby cloaking subducting plates of ocean crust in thicker protective layers, flushing more water into the mantle and ultimately contributing to the creation of new land.”LOVELOCKS LIVING LOOPSThis kind of Earth System Science has been given a name by one of first contributors, James Lovelock — geophysiology. Lovelock describes geophysiology as a systems approach to Earth sciences, viewing Earth as a self-regulating entity where biological, chemical, and physical processes interact to maintain conditions suitable for life. It integrates various scientific disciplines to understand and predict the behavior of Earth's systems, aiming to diagnose and prevent environmental issues by considering the planet as a cohesive, self-regulating system. This concept, rooted in Lovelock's initial Gaia hypothesis, emphasizes the feedback mechanisms that stabilize Earth's environment, akin to physiological processes in living organisms. Gaia is named after the primordial Greek goddess who personifies the Earth. This naming occurred in the context of Lovelock developing his ideas about Earth as a self-regulating system in the 1960s and early 1970s.Lovelock had been working on methods to detect life on Mars at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which led him to consider how life might be detected on a planetary scale. This work eventually evolved into his hypothesis about Earth functioning as a complex, self-regulating system maintained by the community of living organisms. As Lovelock was formulating these ideas, he was looking for a suitable name for his hypothesis. It was during this time that William Golding, Lovelock's neighbor and renowned author of "Lord of the Flies", suggested using the name "Gaia".In Greek mythology, Gaia is considered the ancestral mother of all life and one of the first beings to emerge from earliest chaotic stages of Earth's formation. She is often depicted as a maternal, nurturing figure who gave birth to the Titans, the Cyclopes, and other primordial deities. Gaia is associated with fertility, the earth's abundance, and the cycle of life and death. In ancient Greek religion, Gaia was worshipped as the Great Mother and was sometimes referred to as "Mother Earth." That title, and her influence, extends beyond Greek mythology, perpetuating the concept of Earth as a living, nurturing entity — a concept that has resonated in various cultures for Millenia.Elements of the Greek notion of Gaia likely have roots in earlier Middle Eastern knowledge. Several ancient cultures had earth goddesses that predate or are contemporaneous with the Greek Gaia. For instance, in Mesopotamia, Sumerian mythology offers Ki is the earth goddess, and in Akkadian mythology, there is Ninhursag. It turns out “Mother Earth” birthed similar concepts all around her. Egypt had Isis, Anatolia (modern-day Turkey) had Cybele, India's Hinduism had Parvati and Durga, Pre-Columbian American cultures featured Pachamama, Celtic cultures had Danu and Brigid, while Norse mythology features Frigg and Freyja. In 1960's and 70's America, “Mother Nature” and “Gaia” emerged among some environmentalists as New Age mystical beliefs associated with alternative spiritualities. Lovelock's decision to use the word “Gaia” thus made him and his ideas a target among many Western trained scientists and his Earth system concepts endured harsh criticisms. It's worth mentioning that when Alexander Humboldt put forth similar ideas in his book "Cosmos" (first published in 1845), taking a holistic view of nature, exploring connections between various Earth systems and life forms, he was heralded as the greatest scientist of his time. Even Charles Darwin took a copy of Cosmos with him on his famous Beagle voyage. Humboldt, like Lovelock, uniquely and successfully integrated knowledge from diverse fields like astronomy, geology, biology, meteorology, and even art and literature. But the specialization, reductionism, and quantification of dominant Western science distanced itself from these holistic approaches viewing them as too spiritual and outdated. By the twentieth century, the growing New Age interpretation of Gaia often personified the Earth as a conscious, living entity, drawing on both Lovelock's scientific hypothesis and ancient mythological concepts. Many modern religions and philosophical concepts about the origin of life still incorporate anthropomorphic elements, such as the idea of a creator with human-like qualities or intentions. These mainstream images can lead to engrained tendencies to see humans and other living organisms as being born:* into a world as separate entities from the world they inhabit* onto a physical plane as a separate, tangible reality* unto which they individually acquire and consume energy to live and grow. This perspective sees living beings as somewhat separate from their environment, rather than as integral parts of a larger system. It's a view consistent with traditional Western science that emphasizes reductionist approaches, breaking systems down into component parts. But it contrasts with more holistic perspectives, such as those found in ecological theories like Geophysiology, other branches of Earth System Science, or Traditional Ecological Knowledge which see earth's components, including humans, as inseparable parts of their environments. This was confirmed at the 2001 Amsterdam Declaration, signed by the Chairs of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Program (IGBP), International Human Dimensions Program (IHDP), World Climate Research Program (WCRP) and DIVERSITAS at the 2001 ‘Challenges of a Changing Earth' conference. The declaration concluded:“The Earth System behaves as a single, self-regulating system comprised of physical, chemical, biological and human components, with complex interactions and feedbacks between the component parts.”Integrative Western scientists have now amassed enough data to recognize that living matter is born:* into a living, interconnected Earth system,* onto a dynamic web of relationships,* unto which we belong as integral participants, exchanging energy and matter in a continuous cycle of life and growth. In this view, my moss colonies and their microbial companions emerge as vital threads, weaving together the living and non-living elements of our planet. These intricate communities, from the tiniest bacteria to the visible expanse of moss, exemplify the self-regulating nature of Earth's systems that Lovelock envisioned. As they slowly transform concrete through their metabolic processes, they participate in the larger process of biogeochemical cycling. They influence not only my cinderblock walls and concrete surfaces, but they also contribute to the broader patterns of weathering, sedimentation, and even microclimate regulation. This interplay between the microscopic and the global, the biological and the geological, embodies the essence of Humboldt's and Lovelock's theory — a planet alive with interconnected processes, where every organism, no matter how small, plays a role in maintaining the delicate balance of life.In this living system, my moss and its microbiome, like me and the symbiotic communities of microorganisms in me and on me, are not mere passive inhabitants, but active agents in the ongoing story of Earth's evolution. Together we demonstrate the profound interconnectedness that defines our planet's unique capacity for self-regulation and adaptation. Now where's my pressure washer? This is a public episode. Interview Starts at 23:15, Malcolm pops in at 42:44 This is a special pre Cosmic Summit episode with Malcolm Bendall and Jordan Collin. Malcolm has been around the world testing and implementing his Waste Energy Recovery Retrofit System / Thunderstorm Generator based on Plasmoid Technology, Sacred Geometry and Ancient Wisdom. It appears through the theory and initial testing that this will harvest some waste energy and transmute exhaust particles to Oxygen on combustion engines. Jordan Collin has become an unofficial spokesman for this new technology and Malcolm's Plasma Unification Model, due to his massive interest in ancient wisdom and modern alchemy. I, and they both will be at the Cosmic Summit - Greensborough NC, June 15-17 looking at demonstrations of Malcolm's technology. Will Joe Rogan try and have Malcolm and Randall Carlson on again (long story but this old recording did not get released) especially since the recent Terrance Howard episode that resonates so much with Malcolm and Jordan's work? There are many similarities to their work, including being based partly of Walter Russel's work. Malcolm admits he's standing on the shoulders of Giants and gives credit where credit is due. This is a long uninterrupted chat, that turns out like a true Hero's Journey. We chat about water bubble cavitation, Music of the Spheres (Jordan's upcoming presentation at the Cosmic Summit), Vedic astrology, Sacred Geometry, Ratio's, Terrance and Malcolm's 'Table of Elements', the Thunderstorm Generator, Modern Alchemy, directed malice, cold fusion - the demonization and renaming, Martin Fleischman, sabotage and assassination attempts, and the validation of the technology. How did Malcolm figure out the position of Enoch's house, and get it confirmed? Did the Knights Templars also know this? Was this technology used for massive granite works and hewing stone and quarrying? Why and how did he infuse himself with Plasmoids? How is the working of the Heart an example of all this? And the Blood? We talk about Zero Point, the eye of the hurricane, ball lightning, lifting blocks with sound, Cathay, the scale of Beauty, coming back to the world of Hydrogen, stepping away for 7 years of fasting and prayer to finish the Unification Model, the Shamir, the EVO, King Solomon's Temple, the Ark of the Covenant, the King's chamber, the Shaolin Priest, his life's work and meaning, Bob Greenyer's paper on cavitating bubbles, Tesla and Russel, 108 in terms of local cosmic synchrony, metric vs imperial, and ether + time = matter. He has patented the direct matter to energy drive turbine so he has just started talking about that now. We also into sacred geometry, cosmic scales, time in the equation and how everything comes back to these sacred numbers. The moon, the sun, the pyramids, ancient items and artifacts.... Malcolm unloads about some of his challenges and what we are facing against the deep state, The Shaman, his roots to King of Scotland, the Last of the Mohican's (Aborigines from Tasmania) the various prophecies he is fulfilling, The Indian Navy, The Vajra returning to India after Millenia, Universal knowledge and sacrificing everything for the truth. They opened Ghost Kitchen Orlando in February 2020, just weeks before COVID-era restrictions started taking effect. “It was very strange timing because it was almost like we were building this business just for COVID because all the restaurants were shutting down,” Johnny Nartowicz said. We were planning the idea back in October of 2019. So, yeah, four or five months later COVID hit — all the restaurants shut down and we were planning this delivery pickup-only restaurant for five months.” Ghost Kitchen Orlando went on to be a success during the pandemic, especially with its heat-and-eat meals, but as the world began to reopen their lunch and catering business became the focus. Because of that, the team decided to expand into a brick-and-mortar location. The first Bricks & Bowls location opened in the Mall at Millenia in 2022. “The way people are eating is changing and there's a lot of really bad processed food out there,” Jay Nartowicz said. “And so we want it to be wholesome, nutritious — we don't want to come across as super healthy. We have a really good balance. We have a lot of superfoods and then we have a lot of indulgent foods and wholesome foods.” The restaurant offers sandwiches served on focaccia bread along with a variety of bowls featuring proteins, grains and vegetables. The Millenia location has served as a testing ground for the concept and now it is going to expand. “We had to go from pickup and delivery only to now having a full storefront with staff interacting with customers,” Johnny Nartowicz said. “It's completely different. So it's definitely been a learning curve but we feel it's been (a) proof of concept over the past two years and we've really kind of nailed it and are excited to open this new store in Winter Park.” For Johnny Nartowicz and O'Dwyer, opening a store in Winter Park is something of a homecoming, as the pair met while attending Rollins College. “Winter Park is cool for us because where we're opening is like 100 feet from where we graduated,” O'Dwyer said. “We're going to have a couple exclusive offerings. We're going to have focaccia pizza, which is baked actually using our focaccia bread, and we're gonna have beer and wine, as well as some seltzers and things like that.” The new restaurant is set to open at 331 S. Park Ave. by the end of April, no official opening date has been set. On the latest episode of Florida Foodie, the trio talked about their plans to expand their businesses further. They also share their favorite sandwiches with Lisa Bell. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Uploaded into war-machines. They fight a secret war to preserve humanity. What if there was a war raging for one million years, but it was kept secret? It's a question Sargis never considered, born as an upper middle class man living in Prime City during a so-called “Millenia of Peace.” As far as he, or anyone else knows, humanity has no army, no weapons, and no wars. The people of Earth have been expanding into the stars for as long as anyone remembers, free of conflict while the Techno King and his Royal Cabal enrich themselves on the backs of their labor. All was as it always has been. Then, Sargis dies. Unbeknownst to him, an app he used every single day of his life hijacks his consciousness and uploads it into a synthetic engine of war known as a sleeve. Along with countless others, he has been conscripted into the Undying Legion, charged with fighting a secret, unending war in the name of humanity.

Check then out on SHOPAssociation.orgIn a minute, we'll dig into my discussion with Tasha Golden - Director of Research at the International Arts+Mind Lab at Johns Hopkins University. But first a few thoughts to set up our talk…****************Art and making is part of our human experience – it is part of who we are as a species.I have had this feeling for a number of years, and probably expressed it on this podcast a number of times, that art and making are intrinsic to all of us. There's something unique about the making of things that humans do that is different than other living creatures on the planet. Sure, some of the animals in our world make things too. Birds make nests and the great apes do as well, for some apes, new ones every night as I understand it. But the defining feature between humans and the other creatures making things on the planet is that we make things that can make other things. We are Homo Sapiens – “Man The Thinker” but we are also “Homo Faber” or Man The Maker. I think we're equally “Homo Ludens” – “Man The Player.”I'm sure that there's some deep connection between the idea of the making of things and play that are also deeply connected in defining who we are and how we come to understand ourselves and navigate the world. When I am deeply connected to the making of things, specifically when listening to music and painting, I am very aware of the fact that I am in a Flow state that feels like being deeply involved in play. Time disappears, dissipates… its otherworldly. I think that making, whether objects, stories, music or other manifestations of our creative minds is part of who we all are. But I also think we have pushed it aside getting up in our rational heads believing that we could think our way through our lives rather than feeling, or maybe even creating our way through them.Sir Ken Robinson had said something like ‘we are all born creative, and we have it educated out of us.' That's a tragedy with huge implications to our world when I think we really need super creative solutions to life's pressing challenges. It seems to me that creativity was a necessary skill to be developed as part of our evolutionary history. Being creative, a good problem solver, was an insurance policy for survival. This is also true of our ability to engage in empathic relationships in collaborative communities. When working together, we were much better able to survive. Millenia ago, being cast out of the group and having to go at on your own in the wild might have significantly reduced your chances of survival. And so, making and creating close knit social communities and problem solving have been with us from time immemorial. But beyond making tools, creating shelters and being creative in these ways so as to survive in an unpredictable and sometime brutal world, the arts, at least we call them now evolved as a way for us to express ourselves, our ideological orientations, our understanding of the world. In some ways they were an attempt to understand and answer some of the existential questions of what it meant to be human and how we fit into the cosmological scheme of things. The arts in its many forms; sculpture, dance, song, music, and later literature, brought communities together in shared understanding of the meaning of being individuals as well as members of a larger whole. The arts were a vehicle for the expression of ideas, the asking of questions and searching for answers. In many ways the arts helped to express the ineffable. The arts aligned with our penchant for using narratives to navigate through the world. Stories put things into place, they described the why and how of things. Cognitive scientist Roger Schank has said “Humans are not ideally set up to understand logic; they're ideally set up to understand stories.” And many of the stories we tell are in the form of the arts. From the paintings on the walls of caves in Lascaux France 1700 years ago, to the contemporary dance of Martha Graham, to best-selling books (you pick the author) or immersive digital experiences of media artists like Refik Anadol, the arts have been, and continue to be, part of our lives. Without the arts, life would be bereft of meaning.I have often heard people say I can't draw or I've got no rhythm and can't dance or I can't hold a tune. These self-judgmental comments go completely contrary to what we know from science about the value of engaging in art or even doing simple things like humming your favorite tune and the positive effects it has on your mind-body state.I find myself humming or singing to myself all the time – Christmas carols in the summer, old 70's rock classics any day, doesn't matter. Humming, an ancient artform, plays a key role in activating the parasympathetic nervous system – also known as your ‘rest and digest state'. Because your vagus nerve, one of your neural superhighways connecting your brain to major organs in the rest of your body, runs through your larynx and pharynx in your throat, the vibrations that humming stimulates your vagus nerve and creates what's known as “vagal tone.”Humming can also improve heart rate variability which is an important metric that shows how well you can recover from experiences of stress. So, when you hum you induce something called “parasympathetic dominance” which means that you move from a fight or flight state into one of increased relaxation. The idea here is that bringing the arts into our lives even in the simplest of ways like humming, reconnects us to ourselves and helps support mind body health, an overall sense of well-being. More and more research is pointing to the fact that engaging in the arts and having a sense of well-being can be directly connected. In fact the whole emerging field in cognitive science called neuroaesthetics is geared towards the understanding of how the arts, in all of their incarnations, influences how we feel - not just when listening to a piece of music or staring at a painting on a wall in a museum - but how the overall built environment potentially influences our emotional state which may have a direct effect on our body systems potentially leading to disease. So, there is a significant problem at hand when arts funding is slashed from school curricula thinking that it is less important than getting our school aged children ready to compete on the world stage by simply focusing on STEM based curricula only. Fully integrating the arts into the school, and even our workdays, increases learning and company performance. As a personal example, I know I've described this in a number of the podcast episodes, and at the risk of being repetitive I'll do so now……during the pandemic between 2020 and 2022 and I poured myself into painting, writing and doing this podcast all of which would qualify as the arts. I firmly believe that if it weren't for me finding a Flow state, a pseudo meditative experience, through painting and listening to music while doing it , that my experience of the pandemic may have been drastically different. I think that in many ways, it might have actually been quite negative and that I might have been a very difficult person to live with. Instead, art gave me a sense of agency to be able to navigate the ambiguity of an uncertain future. Engaging in the arts, if even on a small plain of my physical world in the form of a 36 by 48-inch canvas, gave me a certain sense of control. I shifted the negative energy of anxiety and fear of the unknown into creativity in the form of a pandemic production of 25 canvases. I was directly exposed to the value and impact of how the arts could be harnessed to create a profound sense of well-being.And this brings me to my guest Tasha Golden. Tasha Golden, PhD is Director of Research at the International Arts+Mind Lab at Johns Hopkins University, and a national leader and consultant in arts + public health. Episode 84 Jennifer Kesse 24 year old Jennifer Kesse vanished in Orlando, Florida on January 24th ,2006. People that knew Jennifer best, right away were concerned, because Jennifer was an organized professional who would never go off on a whim. Her car, a black 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was missing from it's parking spot in front of her condo in the up and coming Mosaic at Millenia condo complex. On January 26th, after seeing the news of Jennifer's disappearance on the news, someone called in a tip that her car could be found at the Huntington on the Green Condominiums, about a mile from her home. Police went to the scene and verified that her car was indeed parked at the seedy Huntington on the Green Condominiums, about a mile from her home, but there was no sign of Jennifer. Police caught a break when they reviewed grainy surveillance photos of the car being parked there, and they were shocked to see that Jennifer was not the person who exited the vehicle. Instead, they could see that a slim person, possibly a male standing between 5ft3 and 5ft5 had parked the card and left on foot. Unfortuately, a fence in the surveillance photos obstructed the view of the driver's face. Dogs tracked the scent from Jennifer's car right back to her condo development leading to suspisions that the person who likely abducted her had walked back to Jennifer's condo complex, and perhaps had reason to be there. It came to light that Jennifer had been wary of some men who were working at her condo complex in the days before she vanished. Police tried to investigate some of those men, but ran into hurdles when they found that the company that employed them did not keep proper records, sometimes paid under the table, and often hired people that were in the country illegally. One tip led to a man named Chino who had worked at the apartment complex. While he may have had information about what happened to Jennifer, he reportedly cooperated with investigators. Jennifer's case eventually went cold but became a popular one in the media and on online discussion forums. Jennifer's family, feeling that things were at a standstill and feeling underwhelmed by the investigation, sued the Orlando PD in order to obtain case files and have the case re-investigated by another agency. It's unclear exactly what clues there are to go in, but reportedly, there was evidence that there may have been a struggle on the hood of Jennifer's car, and DNA may have been recovered. As of today, it's unclear how much progress is being made if any in Jennifer's case, and no sign of Jennifer herself has ever been found. In this episode, Jennifer's uncle Bill Gilmour, who wrote a book about the case and aftermath, is the guest in this episode, and shares his and the rest of Jennifer's family's insights. When she vanished, Jennifer was described as being 5ft8, 135 lbs, and having Green eyes and sandy blonder hair. She had a shamrock tattoo on her left hip. If you have information about Jennifer's case, please call the Jennifer Kesse tipline at 941-201-4009. From weekly episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians to the outrageously expensive costumes and jewelry displayed at the MET Gala, mainstream media is full of reminders that our culture mostly revolves around money and consumerism. But while we are taught from a young age that one of our primary goals in life is to amass as much wealth as possible, talking about our own income with other people is considered inappropriate. Before we discuss how this blatant contradiction came into being, it's important to recognize that the so-called "money taboo" is a bit more nuanced than we tend to give it credit for. As Joe Pinsker wrote in The Atlantic, it's okay to ask somebody how much they spent on lunch, but not how much they set aside for their retirement. Both timeliness and size, it appears, help determine whether the purchase in question is suitable for conversation. It doesn't matter if that conversation takes place publicly or privately. A 2018 survey from Fidelity Investment Company found that in as many as 34% of cohabiting couples, one or both partners fail to accurately identify how much the other makes. Similarly, just 17% of parents with an income of $100,000 or higher tell their children how much money they have. Generally speaking, people feel more comfortable talking about extramarital affairs, addiction, and sex than money. Understanding the money taboo Such discomfort can have different causes. “Many Americans,” continues Pinsker, “do have trouble talking about money – but not all of them, not in all situations, and not for the same reasons. In this sense, the ‘money taboo’ is not one taboo but several, each tailored to a different social context.” When researching her book Uneasy Street: The Anxieties of Affluence, Rachel Sherman learned New York City's ultrarich keep their income to themselves because they're afraid of being perceived as privileged or corrupt. Middle-class Americans also prefer to remain silent. Not because they're ashamed of their modest wealth – quite the contrary – but because they don't want to be perceived as desperate. As anthropologist Caitlin Zaloom writes in Indebted: How Families Make College Work at Any Cost, “protecting middle-class identity [means] silence about money” since “silence protects the idea that a middle-class family is independent and will be into the future , even if that's not the case.” Evolutionary explanations for the money taboo dig a little deeper. Back when our ancestors lived in tribal communities, our survival depended on our ability to work together. In this kind of environment, the last thing you wanted was to stand out from the crowd. Millenia later, neuroscientist Dr. Moran Cerf says in our interview, created in partnership with Million Stories, our brains still think this way. This explains why income – an “easy tool to quantify people’s position in a system” – is considered taboo. Watch our full interview on money taboos: Historical explanations are equally compelling. As political science professor Jeffrey Winters told Pinsker, societies with large wealth disparities are “inherently unstable.” Not only do they have to defend themselves from outside enemies, but they also must prevent infighting between the haves and the have-nots. In this context, taboos that prevent socioeconomic classes from openly discussing their variable incomes would have the added benefit of maintaining peace and stability.

Few countries match India for its vast variety of people, cultures, languages, and of course, styles of cuisine. While most of us appreciate different aspects of this vast and colorful nation, few of us have a worthy appreciation of the role India has played in shaping civilizations outside of India. Many languages have an ancestral relationship with Sanskrit, the original spoken language of India. Vedic astrologers were centuries ahead of their European counterparts when it came to understanding the movement of celestial objects. India played a pivotal role in shaping the way we use numbers, being among the first (if not the first) to introduce zero as a number. And many modern myths and legends can be traced back to Vedic literature. While it would take multiple series of documentaries to celebrate the ancient Indian influence on modern life, in this episode Thom celebrates the most crucial contribution India has made, and preserved, over the centuries. It's an influence that continues to play a crucial role today, and will do so for millenia to come.If you'd like to experience India first hand with Thom, he invites you to join him on his annual retreat, held in January each year. Yindjibarndi surfer Simon Zuvich was born and raised on Wadandi Country in Boranup. He grew up surfing with the Margs crew and competing in Indigenous surf comps over the last 25 years. He is a teacher and has been working with the WSL over the last few years to shine more of a spotlight on Aboriginal culture. In reconciliation week this year he did a podcast with Aint that Swell where he and smivy went hard with some truth telling, real talk and solutions of how culture can bring surfers and people together. This episode was recorded at the end of last year and Simon also invited Adz and T Bone to be really open and ask anything, to have an honest and real yarn to increase awareness and understanding. It also had a much more WA local flavour to it, including surfing with the crew he grew up with. While it was recorded last year,we are releasing it in NAIDOC Week this year, which stands National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee. It's a week in July every year that celebrates cultures, languages and histories of Aboriginal peoples across Australia and this years theme is, “for our Elders”. Barrelled podcast with Simon would like to respectfully, Acknowledge the Wadandi Elders and their country on which this episode was recorded. We extend this acknowledgment to Elders across WA and thank them for caring for Country over Millenia. this episode is dedicated to their strength in passing down knowledge as the worlds oldest continuing cultures, of which we are all connected to… enjoy
2023.07.01 – 0912 – Your Mindset At The MicINTRODUCTIONPerformance anxiety is rarely researched and so we understand very little about the specifics of this complex condition. We know some hacks… but we also know that long term mental health is very serious. Again, consult a medical professional for more long-term treatment for what may be underlying issues. Millenia ago our caveman ancestors would have sat around a camp fire, telling stories of spirits and sabre-toothed tigers. Their fellow cave-dwellers' faces would be seen in the flickering flame of the fire, encouraging our ancestor on with his tale of mystery and heroism with a combination of grunts, gestures and wide-eyed wonderment. Skip forward and today's story tellers sit in a windowless box, alone yet talking to millions. We are told to “be natural” when on the radio or in a TV studio, but there's nothing natural about it – and we have to trick our Neanderthal instincts into pretending there is. In this chapter we'll look at some of the more respected ways of dealing with ‘mic fright'. Some are straightforward (such as preparation and relaxation), others a little more in-depth (therapy) and others potentially dangerous (self-medication). However, I won't be looking at some of the most obscure so-called cures (from drinking vast quantities of chamomile tea, asking your colleagues to spank you, or even pre-show masturbation).[1] Although everyone is different and those may work for you… But of course, the Catch 22 with learning how to deal with studio pressure is that such training can really only take place, in a studio. With a red light. And the knowledge that thousands or millions of people are listening… and the realisation that the only real cure for excessive nervousness, is experience. Story Summary: Today's episode, Von Hameln, is a special presentation of the first mini-series we created for Victoria's Lift and tells the tale of Victoria facing down an ancient foe and trying to overcome his Wicked plan. It originally aired as a three-part adventure, but for your enjoyment and convenience, I have combined the full story into a single episode.Millenia ago, several Keys were created, one being Victoria's Music Box. While investigating the mysterious abduction of children, Victoria meets the twisted owner of another Key and realizes she may have met her match.Subscribe to Victoria's Lift in Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Part Twilight Zone, but wholly unique, the show is an award nominated audio drama with an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 on Apple Podcasts. Most of 77 episodes follow visitors as they meet the mysterious Guide and are prompted to make a choice. Others reveal secrets about the building, Victoria, and her music box.Warning: The Wicked Library is a horror fiction podcast created for a mature audience. Our stories contain graphic descriptions of pain, murder, violence, blood, betrayal, and inhumanity; monsters win, people die, and hope is often shattered. There is also beauty, heart, catharsis, and raw emotion. Fear may be deeply personal, but we all share it.If at any time a story takes you to a place too dark, turn on the lights, press pause, or press stop. And always remember, that unlike in the real world, these nightmares, and your participation in them, are under your control.Producer & Showrunner: Daniel Foytik Producer: Meg WilliamsTHEMES:The Lift Opening Theme MusicComposed and Recorded by Kimberly Henninger and Shawn Parke of Henninger-Parke Music“Victoria's Music Box, (Victoria's Theme)” and The Lift Closing Theme MusicComposed and recorded by Nico Vettese of We Talk of Dreamswww.wetalkofdreams.comFX:Sound FX: freesound.org, audioblocks.comAUDIO RECORDINGSound Design by Daniel Foytik, 9th Story Studios: www.9thstory.comExecutive Producers: Amber Collins, Nico VetteseThe Lift and all characters, places, and situations are property of Daniel Foytik, 9th Story Studios, LLC and may not be used in any form without permission. Short and Sweet- Wisdom Wednesday I love the Bible. One of the absolute coolest things about the Bible is that, like God, time seems to all get blended together. The Prophets of the old testament often had no real concept of what it truly was they were prophesying about from a time standpoint. The first coming, the second coming, or all that is in between often gets folded on top of each other, yet it still sings to our hearts today just as it did 2000 years ago. Learn all about Jesus' epic mic drop and how Isaiah 61 can speak to your hearts as much today as it did 2000 years ago in today's Blog/ podcast episode- https://findingfaithabove.com/did-jesus-get-the-best-mic-drop-how-isaiah-61-transcends-time-and-speaks-across-millenia-straight-to-you/ Website>>https://findingfaithabove.com Contact>> hello@findingfaithabove.com IG>> https://www.instagram.com/shelbyhohs @shelbyhohs Facebook Page>> https://www.facebook.com/findingfaithabove Facebook Group>> https://www.facebook.com/groups/christianwomenafterreligion
