Send us a textIn this episode, I sit down with Alexandra Ryan, founder and CEO of Goss.ie, for an eye-opening conversation about media, advocacy, and resilience. Alexandra shares her personal experience as a victim of non-consensual intimate image sharing and how it led her to speak out and advocate for change, playing a role in the introduction of Coco's Law, Ireland's legislation against online harassment and intimate image abuse. She reflects on the betrayal of trust, the emotional toll on victims, and the societal norms that continue to shame women instead of holding perpetrators accountable. We also explore the evolving landscape of media ethics, the legal gaps that once left victims unprotected, and the importance of responsible journalism in the digital age. With a law degree alongside her media career, Alexandra shares her unique perspective on the intersection of law, media, and ethics, highlighting the moral dilemmas faced in reporting, the challenges of female entrepreneurship, and the scrutiny women in media face when balancing ambition and integrity.Beyond the headlines, we discuss resilience, mental health, and the power of community support in recovery. Alexandra's story is a powerful reminder that real change comes from standing up, speaking out, and pushing for a society that values justice over judgment. This week's guest is media mogul Alexandra Ryan, owner and brains behind the incredible Irish media brand, Goss Media. Ali joins me this week to talk all things egg freezing. Having undergone the process twice in recent years, Ali knows the ins and outs. We discuss her motivation for embarking on the process, the financial implications, the side effects of taking so many hormones, the physical aftermath of the retrieval and so much more. One of the things I love about Ali is that she's always so transparent and honest about things, and her egg retrieval process is no different – she's showing the realities of every step of the journey and is doing so to encourage others to talk about it more openly. She believes there's an unnecessary shame around not reaching those societally imposed milestones we all know exist, and she's doing things her own way. I loved this chat and I know you will too. Alexandra Ryan's life as an entrepreneur, writer and journalist was flipped on its head when a caller from out of the blue threatened to release footage of her involved in intimate acts online. Despite the fact that this footage was obtained without her consent, the lack of any legal framework or laws to deal with such things meant she could do nothing but carry this dread for almost 5 years. Ever since she has made it her business to change the law, obtain her legal qualifications and be a voice for those in a similar situations. This week I had a chance to sit and talk to her about the journey towards justice and the role bullying has played in her life to this day. We discuss the unseen graft needed to forge her company and website goss.ie, why some people, no matter what she does, will never come on board and why she is totally fine with that.
