The technology leader is forecasting how advancements in AI, data infrastructure, and emerging technologies like quantum computing and 6G will redefine business operations in 2025. Key predictions include the rise of AI agents, the fusion of AI with other new technologies, and the growing importance of upskilling to harness AI's potential. "2025 will be a pivotal year for technology, where AI moves from experimentation to execution and becomes an essential driver of business transformation," said Jason Ward, EMEA North Vice-President and Managing Director of Dell Technologies Ireland. AI will deliver real business value, scaling from concept to reality 2024 was a year of AI discovery, but 2025 will be the year businesses realise tangible returns on investment. According to McKinsey, GenAI usage has doubled in just 10 months, where businesses in these stages are learning, testing and gaining insights into what AI can achieve. Industries like healthcare, finance, and logistics will lead the way in deploying AI and scaling it to solve current challenges. If an organisation's AI strategy isn't clearly defined yet, make it a top priority in 2025. Tools are maturing at a rapid pace, and Irish businesses that fail to adapt risk falling behind. 2. 2025 will see the rise of AI agents 2025 will also see the rise of AI agents, with abilities far beyond chatbots or virtual assistants. Consumer-grade AI, like ChatGPT, has captured everyone's imagination with its ability to generate content. Yet, GenAI's impact on businesses and organisations promises to be more profound, from heightened productivity and transforming how we work to developing more personalised experiences and advancing medical diagnosis. The emerging use of GenAI presents significant opportunities as well as challenges in the field of cybersecurity. While its deep learning techniques can be used by malicious actors to create new attack vectors, GenAI can be a powerful tool to protect data and IT systems. But what should organisations here in Ireland do to unlock the value of GenAI in a responsible manner? Addressing the risks of GenAI Firstly, leaders need to confront the new risks linked to the development of GenAI. The boost in speed and easy automation that GenAI allows hackers to discover vulnerabilities faster, develop malware in real-time, and develop more credible phishing emails and digital spoofing methods. That is why it is crucial that GenAI must be taken into account in the security measures of every organisation in Ireland from now on. Steps that prevent GenAI systems from becoming the target of attacks, and reduce the chances of falling victim to fraud or new attack surfaces due to the emergence of deepfakes. As businesses embrace the transformative power of GenAI, a critical consideration emerges in balancing the security of sensitive data amid the ever-changing global regulatory frameworks. Businesses around Ireland must navigate the complex web of data privacy laws, all while ensuring their GenAI projects don't inadvertently leak confidential information. Responsible deployment of GenAI requires business and IT leaders to take a proactive approach including the development of robust governance practices, continuous monitoring of GenAI systems, and also addressing the talent gap. The Dell Digital Pulse Survey published last year revealed a lack of in-house cybersecurity skills as the second most common barrier to enhancing cybersecurity. To secure GenAI effectively, organisations must roll out cutting-edge infrastructure built on trust, starting from the hardware level and extending all the way to the data and the user. The goal is to have robust access control measures that prevent malicious access and potential misuse of IT systems. Above all, IT leaders need to consider GenAI data risks in the four stages of the GenAI data lifecycle: data sourcing, data preparation, model customisation and operations and scaling. For each stage, the focus needs to be on mappng potentail attack vectors and migiation actions that can be taken should that risk emerge. However, the threat landscape is not one-sided. Gen AI systems themselves are susceptible to adversarial attacks, making them potential targets for exploitation. Securing these systems starts with the development of trusted devices and infrastructure, reinforced by rigorous access control to prevent unauthorised use. Given GenAI reliance on extensive datasets for learning and decision-making, safeguarding the privacy and integrity of data is paramount. Therefore the next step is to ensure that data classification, encryption, and secure storage and transmission of data are made possible. Looking ahead, companies should also consider having a contingency plan. Developing a strong cyber recovery strategy ensures there's a plan B in place should something unforeseen arise. She later ended up working for Dell, and after working in a couple other verticals, she was placed on a healthcare account in Texas. That is at that very moment she was introduced to healthcare IT. Mattis shares that healthcare is a unique vertical in that, even as part of IT, you feel connected to the mission of caring and healing. At Dell, Lucent and AT&T, she was able to develop great technical skills, but now in this current position she truly feels that the projects she works on are making a difference in people's lives.Mattis earned a bachelor's in business administration from Howard University and an MBA from George Washington University, both in Washington, D.C. For nearly 40 years of existence, Diego Cepeda has led a life of constant adventure.  He holds 4 nationalities all in one body -- two of them North America and two South America.  He has lived all over the place between way north Canada, the real OC - Orange County, New York, Memphis, Michigan, Chicago, and Texas!  It was during his middle school days Diego befriended Sean Thomas and had to settle on being the second best athlete, second best leader, and second best on the dance floor.  The friendship has continued for about thirty years, which seems like a really long time to have a friend.  As a kid he had visions of being an anthropologist, architect, astronaut, chemical engineer... and finally settled on hotel management by the time he graduated high school in Memphis, Tennessee.  To learn the ropes of the hospitality industry, Diego attended Michigan State University, learned what good basketball and hockey look like, and post-graduation went to start his career in Chicago.  Diego spent a nib above 9 years in Chi-Town mastering the world of food, starting with working as a room service manager serving celebrities at a top ranked hotel, The Peninsula Chicago, followed by being the head restaurant manager on a dining cruise ship , and then during the recession transitioning to doing market research for the food industry while starting up a European bakery with a truly unique French chef. Towards the end of three years of operating the bakery, Diego wrote a movie script about the stressed days as an entrepreneur intermingled with the chef's unbelievable life happenings. After selling his interest, Diego pursued business school. Diego had decided enough of an agitated hustling life, and time to go back to school to master marketing. Diego arrived in Ann Arbor, Michigan in August 2012 as the start of life changing experience at the University of Michigan, where he pursued an MBA.  2 years later after gallivanting, throwing international parties, studying to the wee hours of the night at the dead silent law library, working in a casino in Santiago, Chile, and recruiting, Diego landed a marketing role at Dell Technologies in Austin, Texas.  At Dell, Diego met his wife Tong Zhang, and they live a happy Texan life with a mini dachshund Bebe.  For the last 7 years, Diego has hopped around from Dell to a few other software companies delving into all corners of marketing, and now is happily product marketing at Snow Software. It’s a user-to-user forum where anyone – including Dell employees and other customers – can answer a user’s question. “Facebook and Twitter are typically folks that are having issues at the moment that just want to be heard,” says Amy Bivin, manager of community outreach for Dell. In contrast, the Forum often features more complex or esoteric questions, sometimes from owners of older legacy systems.   Laura Bosworth, CEO and co-founder of TeVido BioDevices, is a dynamic former Fortune 50 executive with 25+ years of cross-functional industry experience. TeVido is a biotech start-up using innovative 3D bioprinting and a woman’s own cells to create tissue engineered solutions for reconstruction after breast cancer. Recent press coverage includes CNBC, CNN, The Economist, Popular Science and many more. The company has received grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Cancer Institute and the LIVESTRONG Foundation. With a B.S. in Engineering from UT El Paso, Bosworth started her career in manufacturing process development for IBM. She quickly moved into management where she led software development and launched a Technical Marketing Center earning a General Manager’s Award for her contributions to sales and customer relationships. At Dell, she built strategic business partnerships with large companies such as Microsoft, SAP, and Oracle and she led software product marketing delivering significant product feature improvement, highlighted by industry analysts. Ms. Bosworth is recognized for her skill in starting up new business functions and created multiple technical sales support functions including an OEM business unit: enabling over $500M in sales. She launched a professional services business unit and has expertise in customer support services. Using her cross-functional and international experience, she developed corporate wide quality strategies that reduced operating costs by ~$120M. Ms. Bosworth has volunteered for numerous non-profits, primarily supporting women’s needs in the Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) field as well as domestic violence – in Board positions as well as providing direct service. She volunteers as a Spanish interpreter at a Healthcare Clinic that serves low-income individuals Ms. Bosworth developed curricula, taught and provided mentorship with several applied entrepreneurship programs -including those at Texas State University and UTEP- focused on mentoring aspiring underrepresented and women entrepreneurs to develop their own high-growth companies. She volunteers as a Spanish interpreter at a Healthcare Clinic that serves low-income individuals seeking healthcare access.
