Matt Beaudreau is the founder of Apogee, an alternative education community dedicated to equipping young people with the character, skills, and resilience they need to thrive. A former public school teacher with nearly two decades in education, Matt has become a leading voice on parenting, leadership, and personal responsibility. In this solo recap episode, Travis Chappell shares five of his biggest takeaways from their conversation, covering everything from raising confident children to developing true masculinity and embracing life's unexpected opportunities. On this episode we talk about: Why parents should prepare their children for life's challenges instead of trying to shield them from every obstacle. The "Four C's" framework for raising confident, capable young kids. Why leading by example is far more powerful than saying, "Because I said so." The difference between true masculinity and uncontrolled aggression. How collecting experiences early in life creates opportunities that only make sense in hindsight. Top 3 Takeaways Great parenting is about preparing children for the real world, not protecting them from every difficulty. Resilience comes from overcoming challenges. Children learn far more from what they observe than what they're told. Living your values consistently is the strongest form of leadership. Don't feel pressured to have your entire life mapped out. Say yes to meaningful experiences—the dots often connect only when you look back. Notable Quotes "If you want to raise a dragon slayer, you have to tell them the dragons exist." "Because I do so beats because I said so every single time." "The dots only connect looking backward." On this week's episode, Josh Schimmer, Eric Schmidt, Tess Cameron, and Sam Fazeli open by noting the XBI's continued rise, debating whether biotech is getting ahead of itself. The co-hosts call this a “new era” in which biotech can be profitable rather than sold off to pharma. The conversation shifts to deals, with AbbVie's $10.9 billion acquisition of Apogee, which raised questions about China-sourced drugs given their volume, pace of innovation, and cheaper price. The group also covers Boundless Bio and Serapha's merger, alongside a $230M private raise. Ollin Bio -- whose pipeline is built entirely on Chinese assets -- raised $330M Series B to advance Phase 3 trials of a bispecific antibody for diabetic macular edema and wet AMD, which led to a debate on the COINS Act and the distinction between physical and innovation supply chains. The group then overviews potential FDA Commissioner candidates, with BIO CEO John Crowley and physician Heidi Overton as front-runners alongside acting leader Kyle Diamantas. In company news, CVS Caremark deferred adding $SPRY's epinephrine nasal spray Neffy to its formulary, pushing the review to January 2027. The episode concludes with data updates from Moonlake in HS, Merck's ulcerative colitis drug, Definium's Phase 3 LSD data in MDD, and Absci's Lilly-backed prolactin antibody raise. *This episode aired on June 26, 2026.

Hi everyone!I'm back with another mix, and I wanted to be completely transparent with you. You might notice some advertising at the beginning and end of this episode, and there's a reason for it.I've been creating this show since 2018. As many of you know, I've faced several challenges with hosting providers in the past—including being banned from Anchor for no reason. I've finally found a host that works, but unlike before, this hobby now comes with significant out-of-pocket costs.Years ago, record labels offered to buy this show. If I had accepted, I'd be set for life, but it came with strings attached: playing only what they wanted and losing my creative freedom. I chose to stay independent. The advertising you hear now is what allows me to keep the show alive, pay for professional hosting, and improve the sound quality (which you'll definitely notice in this mix). I promise: no ads in the middle of the music. They will only be at the start and the end. I'd rather do this than ask you directly for money; it's my way of keeping the show sustainable while staying true to the music and the independent artists I support. When my situation improves, the ads will go away. Thank you for sticking with me and for understanding. I hope you enjoy the vibes. Love you all ❤️❤️❤️Farewell,Bamf.Tracklist:00:00 Mujo - Atlas01:36 Mujo, Zmeyev - Fragrance03:21 Philanthrope, NINETOFIVE - Transit05:05 Phlocalyst, B-Side - Stone07:10 Kupla, less.people - Glass Galaxy09:58 C4C, Nathaniel E. Using SSB only on the 40m band, the exchange is signal report, serial number and Worked All Britain square. Now the radio propagation report, compiled by G0KYA, G3YLA and G4BAO on Thursday the 23rd of April Last week's HF propagation was dominated by the effects of a high-speed stream from a large coronal hole on the Sun. This pushed the Kp index up to 4 and 5 at times, with the result that maximum usable frequencies, or MUFs, were lowered. The ionosphere struggled, and often the MUF over a 3,000km path was below 21MHz. Yes, there were some openings up to 10m, but they were generally weak. Checks showed that paths opened up to Brazil, Kenya and Chile on the 10m band using FT8, but the signals were well down in the noise and barely workable. Get used to this, as it could be the norm for the next few years! Meanwhile, the solar flux index increased to 116 by Thursday, the 16th of April, no doubt aided by active sunspot group 4420. Next week, NOAA forecasts that the solar flux index could rise to 125. It also predicts that the Kp index may remain low due to a lack of coronal hole activity. Fingers crossed that we don't have any coronal mass ejections over the next week. If this pans out as predicted, we could have some decent HF conditions over the next seven days. Yes, the MUFs may be lower, but 14, 18 and perhaps 21MHz could be usable, with very occasional openings on 24 and 28MHz. DX to be worked this week includes TX9W from the Marquesas Islands; VP9KF in Bermuda; 7P8WR from Lesotho; C5B, C5C and C5D in The Gambia; D60DX in Comoros; and JD1BMH operating from Ogasawara And now the VHF and up propagation news from G3YLA and G4BAO The strong region of high pressure will remain with us for the next two weeks. So tropo should be considered a first-choice mode for a while. The main criteria for the quality of any resulting tropo is moisture. This is because moisture is a component in the calculation of the refractive index of the air. High pressure usually produces dry air above any temperature inversion, but we may not always get the moisture below the inversion. The end of last week was good with reports of beacons in Norway and Sweden into JO02 on 1.3GHz because of moisture present below the inversion. However, if the dry easterly wind returns, it may not go so well. Meteor scatter should continue to be uplifted by the declining Lyrids meteor stream, which peaked last week, and rain scatter is off the menu since the charts are dominated by high-pressure systems. Aurora is showing as occasional weak alerts, but apart from the odd fluttery signals on the LF bands, nothing too interesting at the moment. As usual, watch for the Kp index going up to 5. Keeping the best until last, we are approaching the period when Sporadic-E usually becomes a mode of interest. Work is well underway on a rewrite of the Propquest website, which should be ready soon. This will be the go-to place for the daily updates during the 2026 Sporadic-E season. EME now, and the Moon is moving into a lower noise position. Declination is high, but falling, and path losses will increase as we move away from the Moon's perigee, its closest point to Earth, which occurred on Friday, the 17th of April. Apogee, the Moon's furthest point from Earth and the point of highest path losses, occurs on Sunday, the 17th of May. And that's all from the propagation team this week.

Good morning from Pharma Daily: the podcast that brings you the most important developments in the pharmaceutical and biotech world. Today, we delve into a series of transformative events that are shaping the future of drug development and patient care.Beginning with Novartis, the company has made a strategic investment of approximately $480 million to expand its manufacturing and R&D capabilities in China. This move aligns with the broader trend of global pharmaceutical companies seeking to bolster their presence in one of the fastest-growing healthcare markets. China's demand for innovative healthcare solutions is on the rise, making it a critical region for expansion as companies look to tap into new opportunities for growth. In drug development, Insmed's Arikayce is on the verge of a significant label expansion following promising results from its Phase 3 clinical trials. This development could provide a new lifeline for patients dealing with Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC), offering more robust treatment options and improving patient outcomes in this challenging area of infectious disease management. The U.S. FDA is actively engaging stakeholders to gather feedback on the National Priority Voucher review pathway. This initiative is designed to expedite drug reviews for critical therapies, although it has stirred debate concerning its impact on regulatory standards and market dynamics. The agency's commitment to transparency is evident in its approach to involving public opinion in shaping these policies, indicating an openness to adapt regulatory frameworks that can better support innovation. In oncology, competition is heating up in the non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) arena. Dizal's Zegfrovy has shown promising Phase 3 trial results, positioning it as a strong competitor against Johnson & Johnson's Rybrevant. These findings not only highlight Zegfrovy's potential efficacy but also offer hope for patients battling this difficult-to-treat subtype of lung cancer. On the regulatory front, the FDA has mandated updates to the labels of common Parkinson's medications such as levodopa and carbidopa, following concerns about seizure risks linked to vitamin B6 deficiency. This decision underscores the agency's focus on safety monitoring and emphasizes the importance of vigilance by healthcare providers when prescribing these treatments.Meanwhile, Apogee Therapeutics has released compelling Phase 2 data for its anti-IL-13 antibody targeting eczema. This new contender poses a significant threat to established players like Eli Lilly and Sanofi, with analysts predicting substantial market impact due to its enhanced efficacy. As competition intensifies, Apogee's candidate might just redefine treatment landscapes within dermatology. In vaccine development, Pfizer and Valneva are continuing their efforts despite challenges in their Phase 3 Lyme disease vaccine trial caused by unexpectedly low incidence rates. Their perseverance reflects a strategic commitment to addressing unmet medical needs in infectious diseases—a testament to their resolve in enhancing public health outcomes.Sanofi's re-entry into the T-cell engager space through collaboration with Kali Therapeutics marks another significant move in immuno-oncology. By acquiring a trispecific antibody at an early stage, Sanofi aims to harness cutting-edge immunotherapies that effectively target cancer cells by leveraging the body's natural defenses.Cybersecurity has also emerged as a pivotal concern following disruptions at Stryker due to cyberattacks. The company's rapid recovery highlights the critical importance of cybersecurity measures in maintaining seamless healthcare delivery systems—a reminder that technological resilience is as crucial as scientific innovation. These developments reflect an era marked by rapid innovation and evolving regulatory landscapes within the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.Support the show

Producer/Host: R.W. Estela Hi, I'm RW Estela: Since 1991, I've been presenting A Word in Edgewise, WERU's longest-running short feature, a veritable almanac of worldly and heavenly happenings, a confluence of 21st-century life in its myriad manifestations, international and domestic, cosmopolitan and rural, often revealing, as the French say, the more things change, the more they stay the same — though not always! Sometimes in addressing issues affecting our day-to-day lives, in this age of vagary and ambiguity, when chronological time is punctuated elliptically, things can quickly turn edgy and controversial, as we search for understanding amid our dialectic. Tune in Monday mornings at 7:30 a.m. for an exciting journey through space and time with a few notable birthdays thrown in for good measure during A Word in Edgewise . . . About the host: RW Estela was raised as a first-generation American in Colorado by a German mother and a Corsican-Basque father who would become a three-war veteran for the US Army, so RW was naturally a military brat and later engaged in various Vietnam-era civil-service adventures before paying his way through college by skiing for the University of Colorado, playing Boulder coffeehouses, and teaching. He has climbed all of Colorado's Fourteeners; found work as an FAA-certificated commercial pilot, a California-licensed building contractor, a publishing editor, a practitioner of Aikido, and a college professor of English; among his many interdisciplinary pursuits are the design and building of Terrell Residence Library (recently renamed the Terrell House Permaculture Living & Learning Center at the University of Maine), writing Building It In Two Languages (a bilingual dictionary of construction terminology), aerial photo documentation of two dam removals (Great Works and Veazie) on the Penobscot River, and once a week since 1991 drafting an installment of A Word In Edgewise, his essay series addressing issues affecting our day-to-day lives — and WERU's oldest continuous short feature. When pandemics do not interfere, he does the Triple Crown of Maine open-water ocean swims (Peaks to Portland, Islesboro Crossing, and Nubble Light Challenge) and the Whitewater Downriver Point Series of the Maine Canoe and Kayak Racing Organization. RW is the father of two and the grandfather of three and lives with his partner Kathleen of 37 years and their two Maine Coons in Orono. We like to pick spooky games for October, as we feel it fits with the Halloween season and everything. We wouldn't say Halloween Harry (1993, developed by Interactive Binary Illusions and SubZero Software, published by Apogee) is a particularly scary game. It does feature a lot of zombies. But more than anything it has "halloween" […]
Today's guest is Nate Hankes – US Army drone operator turned soil scientist then sales engineer at a cutting-edge agricultural sensor manufacturer. Nate spent 14 months in Baghdad during the 2007 troop surge, watching chaos unfold from a screen thousands of feet above, feeling both omniscient, at times, and impotent. He came home carrying a weight of the war he didn't know he had, spent nine years writing a book to process it, and took five months to hike the Appalachian Trail to figure out who he was after the uniform came off. As Nate says, “I called it the Bagdad hangover. I lost a decade of my life to it.” His path into agriculture wasn't some romantic calling—it was practical advice from his dad during the Great Recession and a college program that didn't require calculus. But somewhere between a Monsanto internship at an Idaho phosphate mine, graduate research on a selenium-accumulating plant that killed livestock, and learning hydroponics in a Bob Marley-playing, barefoot California office, Nate found something he didn't expect: Purpose through Science. Now he's at Apogee Instruments in Utah, working with researchers and growers who are trying to do everything from grow plants in space to monitor the distribution of light in their greenhouses. The company was founded by his former graduate advisor, Dr. Bruce Bugbee, who's been manufacturing high-fidelity environmental sensors for nearly 30 years. In this conversation, we get into: The moral weight of remote warfare Leadership failures that push good people out, and Why the precision of measuring photons matters when you're trying to feed people Nate doesn't sugarcoat the hard parts, and he's not interested in wrapping his military service in nostalgia. He's just trying to do work that matters. Enjoy!
I thought the next generation was failing — and honestly, I was losing hope. Then I went to Austin, Texas and saw something that completely changed my perspective. In this vlog, I take you behind the scenes of an Apogee event where families, leaders, and kids are doing the hard work most people won't. This isn't theory or talking points — it's real leadership, real sacrifice, and real responsibility being lived out.
Wrapping up the year with the annual SOLO podcast-- and my guest #200... Troy Johnson of Apogee Architectural Metals. It is an incredible one. Some may remember Troy when he blew the audience away at BEC a few years ago while running Harmon, so you'd know he'd be a great one to interview. We covered a lot of subjects and broke news- and that news is significant. It's a very shrewd maneuver that will be appreciated in the marketplace- and I, as an industry observer, loved it. Troy hit on his job now (it's still pretty new), culture moves, trends he's impressed with, what the industry can expect from the companies of Apogee Architectural Metals, and so much more. Plus, on my fun question, he delivered an incredibly creative and deep answer. All of it was great, and I do think you will enjoy it immensely- I know I did! This episode, as all in 2025, was sponsored by FHC-Frameless Hardware Company. fWotD Episode 3145: Commander Keen in Invasion of the Vorticons Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Sunday, 14 December 2025, is Commander Keen in Invasion of the Vorticons.Commander Keen in Invasion of the Vorticons is a three-part episodic side-scrolling platform video game developed by Ideas from the Deep (a precursor to id Software) and published by Apogee Software in 1990 for MS-DOS. It is the first set of episodes of the Commander Keen series. The game follows the titular Commander Keen, an eight-year-old child genius, as he retrieves the stolen parts of his spaceship from the cities of Mars, prevents a recently arrived alien mothership from destroying landmarks on Earth, and hunts down the leader of the aliens, the Grand Intellect, on the alien home planet. The three episodes feature Keen running, jumping, and shooting through various levels while opposed by aliens, robots, and other hazards. In September 1990, John Carmack, while working at programming studio Softdisk, developed a way to implement smooth side-scrolling in video games on IBM-compatible personal computers (PCs), which at the time was the province of video game consoles or more game-focused home computers like the Commodore 64. Carmack and his coworkers John Romero and Tom Hall, along with Jay Wilbur and Lane Roathe, developed a demo of a PC version of Super Mario Bros. 3, but failed to convince Nintendo to invest in a PC port of their game. Soon afterwards, however, they were approached by Scott Miller of Apogee Software to develop an original game to be published through the Apogee shareware model. Hall designed the three-part game, John Carmack and Romero programmed it, Wilbur managed the team, and artist Adrian Carmack helped later in development. The team worked continuously for almost three months on the game, working late into the night at the office at Softdisk and taking their work computers to John Carmack's home to continue developing it.Released by Apogee in December 1990, the trilogy of episodes was an immediate success. Apogee, whose monthly sales had been around US$7,000, made US$30,000 on Commander Keen alone in the first two weeks and US$60,000 per month by June. The first royalty check convinced the development team, then known as Ideas from the Deep, to quit their jobs at Softdisk. The team founded id Software shortly thereafter and went on to produce another four episodes of the Commander Keen series over the next year. The trilogy was lauded by reviewers due to the graphical achievement and humorous style, and id Software went on to develop other successful games, including Wolfenstein 3D (1992) and Doom (1993). The Vorticons trilogy has been released as part of several collections by id and Apogee since its first release, and has been sold for modern computers through Steam since 2007.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:42 UTC on Sunday, 14 December 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Commander Keen in Invasion of the Vorticons on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Bluesky at @wikioftheday.com.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Ivy.

In this episode of Disruption/Interruption, host KJ sits down with John Choate, co-founder of Apogee Travel, to discuss how the travel industry hides value, the illusion of price comparison, and how Apogee is disrupting the online travel agency model by turning every hotel booking into a charitable donation. Discover the truth behind loyalty programs, the commoditization of hotels, and how transparency and social good can reshape an entire industry. Four Key Takeaways: The Illusion of Comparison Shopping [00:41]John explains how consumers believe they are comparison shopping for hotels, but in reality, prices are controlled and nearly identical across platforms. The Birth of Apogee’s Value Model [06:55]The story of how a charity hotel stay and a conversation with Steve Wynn inspired the idea of using hotel profits for social good. Exposing Loyalty Program Devaluation [24:15]John breaks down how hotel loyalty programs manipulate point values, creating “value blindness” for consumers. How Apogee Travel Disrupts the Industry [32:05]Apogee’s unique model: every booking generates a donation to a charity of the traveler’s choice, at no extra cost, while still earning brand rewards points. Quote of the Show (34:20):"Most people think charity is emotional. In our model, it's structural. Travel's the largest overlooked fundraising engine in the world. We just plugged it in." – John Choate Join our Anti-PR newsletter where we’re keeping a watchful and clever eye on PR trends, PR fails, and interesting news in tech so you don't have to. Surprising you like a good ol' jump scare, the Atari and Apogee partnership rolls on with a shadow drop of Total Chaos on PC and consoles yesterday, November 20th. This one comes from the one-man shop, Sam Prebble/Trigger Happy Interactive, and is a follow-up to the commercial and critical success, Turbo Overkill. What you may not know is that Total Chaos came first, starting as a Doom 2 mod before being remade in its current terrifying form. I'm not going to spoil any more than that here, as Sam was kind enough to join me and Apogee's Jeron Moore to dive into his game dev journey and all things Total Chaos. What is the thing biggest stopping you from doing meaningful work...When I listen to the service design professionals around me, it's often not the tools or methods they have access to.Rather, and you might recognize this, its often the organizational culture that's the biggest roadblock.Culture isn't the set of company values that are displayed on the wall. If only things were so simple Culture is materialized by actions. It's made up of the lived experiences of the people doing the work day in and day out.So, if the existing org culture is a roadblock, how can we change it?Because as we know, if there is one thing that's great at resisting change, it's culture. And do we even have a place here as service design professionals. Isn't this the field of expertise of strategy consultants?Well, our guest, Dan Szuc has been working on this question for the last 20 years. He's so deep into it that he written two books on this topic Make Meaningful Work and Make Meaningful Culture. And the good news is that, yes culture is 100% an area where we need to play a role.We can look at culture as a design material that can be shaped. In this episode we explore how that works in practice, where you even start and the pitfalls that you should be mindful. We get into practical techniques like "practice spotting", talk about "moments that matter" and explore the influence of leadership (and lack of it). This episode is for everyone who want's to contribute to making "shitty" work environments into ones that are better equipped to help you do meaningful work!Culture often feels like a huge, intangible and sometimes even scary topic to touch. I hope that this conversation help see that there are small, practical, tangible actions you can do to start shaping a better culture today and the confidence to do so!Enjoy and keep making a positive impact.Be well,--- [ 1. Back in April, Apogee and Emberheart Games released the killer boomer shooter, Wizordum, out of early access. Shortly thereafter, a partnership was formed with Atari and Infogrames to bring the title to consoles, which made its debut this week! Joining me this week are Primoz Vovk (Lead at Emberheart Games) and Jeron Moore (Executive Producer at Apogee) to discuss the title from its origin to release and everything in between. Astrophiz 215: Dr Ian Musgrave's June SkyGuide Summary: Mars close to thin crescent moon. Occultation of Antares behind the moon in the early evening sky. The moon comes close to some of the bright planets. … and Mars is close to the moon again at the end of the month. Moon Phases: June 3 ~ 1st Quarter Moon, and another time to catch the ‘Lunar X' late in the night, about 11pm for Australian Eastern states. 10:30 for central states and 9pm in the West. Lunar X Tip: take an image each 1/2 hour from moonrise. June 7 ~ Apogee, furthest from earth June 11 ~ Full Moon June 19 ~ Last Quarter Moon ~ ideal for stargazing June 23 ~ Perigee, closest to earth June 25 ~ New Moon ~ ideal for stargazing June 21 ~ Solstice: shortest day in Southern Hemisphere. longest day in Northern Hemisphere Evening Skies: Jupiter is lost into the twilight Mercury returns to evening skies mid-month, on the 27th it's 3°from the moon an hour after sunset, and will continue to be excellent until mid-July. Mars is low in the NW evening skies, and is still readily visible T Coronae Borealis is visible in late evening skies and still has not ‘Gone Nova' so the challenge is still … to capture a Nova before and after it blows! This Nova iswell ‘overdue' so all eyes are on it! Tuesday 10 June ~ The Occultation of Antares by the Moon is easily seen in binoculars and telescopes (for times, check Ian's Astroblogger website) Also June is a great opportunity to see The Dark Emu in the south, the Southern Cross and the magnificent globular cluster Omega Centauri is also at it's highest in the south. Morning Skies: Venus is furthest from the sun on 1 June, and is a half-moon shape in telescopes, and beside the crescent moon on 22 June Saturn is climbing higher in the morning sky, Scorpius is a feature in the dark morning sky in the east Saggitarius and the Heart of the Milky Way are also rising, a good opportunity to catch the Triffid and Lagoon nebulas in Saggitarius. Ian's 'Tangent' Ian discusses long-lived aspects of Indigenous astronomy like The Eagle, Stingray and Dark Emu, and how Western constellation names have changed over time. eg Argo was declared obsolete in 1930. Ian's Astrophotography Challenges: 1. Capture The Occultation of Antares on June 10th (almost full moon) 2. Then on a dark night with no moon, have a go at The Dark Emu, with your mobile phone/DSLR/camera, conveniently at 8pm in the south near Scorpius, the Pointers and the Southern Cross. Tips: Use your device's highest ISO (ASA) Under urban skies, take 10 x1second exposures, and stack them using a free stacking program or app. Under dark skies, you can take longer exposures If stacking in RAW, do a ‘dark frame' subtraction If stacking in JPEG, don't use dark frame subtraction.
What if education wasn't about grades or transcripts—but about becoming the kind of person who can figure it out? In this powerful and timely episode of The 1000 Hours Outside Podcast, Matt Beaudreau returns for a second time to help launch Ginny Yurich's brand new book, Homeschooling: You're Doing It Right Just by Doing It, which he proudly endorsed. Together, they dismantle the conveyor belt model of schooling and offer a radically freeing alternative: when parents grow, kids grow. Matt shares stories of teens building real-world skills, chasing big goals, and thriving outside of traditional timelines—often without ever taking a test. He and Ginny explore meta-skills, modeling, self-reliance, boredom as a gift, and why success without peace is failure in disguise. This is not just a podcast episode—it's a rallying cry for parents to trust themselves, grow boldly, and reclaim childhood. ** Learn more about Apogee and all they have to offer here Get your copy of Homeschooling, You're Doing it Right Just by Doing It here Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of Inside Golf Podcast, Andy sits down with Andrew Harvie, managing partner at Golf Club Atlas to discuss his two recent trips to Florida and Texas. They dive into the Florida private golf bubble and many of the exciting new developments in the Sunshine state, including Apogee, High Grove, the Ranch, Sandglass, Cabot Citrus Farms, and many others. Andrew then discusses his recent trip to Texas, which includes Childress Hall and Luling, two exciting new clubs from Tom Doak, Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner, and Kyle Franz that are set to rival the Oohoopee Model. They identify which of these new developments will shine and receive critical acclaim, and the question that I continue to ponder, is any of this good for the game of golf—being that all of the best architecture is matriculating at ultra private destination clubs that 99.9% of the golfing public will ever get to experience. Thanks for listening and subscribing to Inside Golf Podcast with Andy Lack, cheers!
Today, we're bringing back a special episode from our archives—Episode 16—in honor of a very special occasion. March 14, 2025, marks the 95th birthday of our company's founder, the legendary Alicia Cervera Sr. In this timeless episode, Alicia shares her 7 Keys to New Development Sales, insights that have shaped Miami's real estate landscape for decades. But before we dive in, let me introduce the woman who truly needs no introduction. Alicia Cervera Sr. is a Peruvian-American businesswoman, real estate broker, and philanthropist. As the founder and chairman of Cervera Real Estate, she's played a pivotal role in shaping Miami's skyline. Over the years, she's worked alongside industry titans like Harry Helmsley and Jorge M. Pérez and has been compared to Julia Tuttle for her profound impact on the city's development. Her story is one of vision, resilience, and determination. From her early days in Peru to her arrival in Miami in the 1960s, she recognized the city's potential long before it became the global hub it is today. She pioneered the model for new development sales and helped shape iconic projects like The Palace on Brickell, Apogee, St. Regis Bal Harbour, and Aston Martin Residences. Known as the Grand Lady of Real Estate and the Queen of Brickell, Alicia's contributions have been widely recognized—from a dedicated stretch of South Miami Avenue named in her honor to the South Florida Business Journal's Lifetime Achievement Award. Miami's skyline would not be what it is today without her vision. So, in celebration of her remarkable legacy, let's revisit one of our most valuable episodes. Here are Alicia Cervera Sr.'s 7 Keys to Selling New Developments. Guest: Alicia Cervera Sr. Host: Omar De Windt Producer: Veronica Paris
