Episode 125 of the Be More Today Show features Physical Therapist and Founder/Owner of Cadence Insoles John Hinds. Check out our conversation regarding the right how orthotics can help reduce foot pain, some entrepreneurial tips for starting your own business, and why Physical Therapy is one of the best professions in the world. Cadence Insoles: "I like to say the insole connects your foot to the shoe. There are a lot of great shoes on the shelves with wonderful midsoles, outsoles, and beautiful styles and visuals, with different levels of cushion and “comfort- but your foot sits on the insole. Although still obsessed with footwear and insoles, I understand that everybody is different and not everybody will benefit from, or “needs”, insoles or Cadence. I will never claim that Cadence (or any one device) is going to cure everything that walks through the door. There are a lot of variables and personal preference that goes into fitting for comfort just as there are a lot of variables when working with an overuse injury or other pain syndromes: variables such as activity modification (freq., duration, volume of training or work duties), individual mobility, strength, conditioning, and recovery strategies (among others). But footwear and a good insole (when appropriate) should be included among of those variables, and they're 2 variables that often provide immediate results." The Be More Today Show closes out the month of April with our final Occupational Therapist Sally Lachman. Join our conversation as we discuss ways to treat lymphedema and how having an MBA can help shape the future of the healthcare system. Sally has been an occupational therapist for 11 years. In 2017 she became a certified lymphedema therapist but treated a mixture of neurological and orthopedic diagnoses. Throughout her career she always tried to find jobs in hand clinics or outpatient clinics to gain experience. Around 3 years ago she decided that she wanted more out of her career and set a plan to become a certified hand therapist. She also wanted to start moving up the career ladder into management and supervisory roles. An opportunity presented itself and she enrolled in LIU for an MBA in Healthcare Administration. Through the 2 1/2 years of being in the program she also sought out mentors from the American Society of hand therapists to help study and specialize in the upper extremity. She graduated with her MBA in May of 2022 and passed her certification exam, becoming a certified hand therapist in December 2022. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bemoretoday/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bemoretoday/support
Happy Earth Day! Check out our amazing conversation with Jimmy Gould, founder and inventor of the SoapStandle.Jimmy Gould is a local entrepreneur in Memphis, Tennessee. The SoapStandle is a small simple device that affixes to a bar of soap via small points that go into one side of the bar, creating a platform on which the soap is elevated. Since air can circulate 360° around the soap when it's not being used, it dries, eliminating the goo before it starts. Visit www.soapstandle.com. Designed to accommodate popular curved bar soaps, SoapStandle is the soap innovation that allows the bar to dry, last 30% longer and not slip from your hand. The simple soap accessory with over 3,000 five-star reviews is back with an additional product designed to fit perfectly on curved bars of soap. An American-made soap innovation, SoapStandle was created to enhance the bar soap experience – a more affordable, environmentally-friendly and pure way to keep clean. It does so by eliminating the slippery goo that forms on bars, prolonging the bar's life and giving you a great grip on an otherwise slippery situation.
