David Holliday grew up in Auburn Washington with his parents and two siblings. After high school he was drafted to go to Vietnam. He chose to join the Navy for 4 years. Married and heading off to war David didn't have much time with his new bride. War affected David and helped him to see that he wanted to have God in his life. He and his wife ran a vegetable farm in Quincy Washington. At that time he decided to begin studying the Bible and find out more about God. Eventually the missionaries moved across from their farm and came over to share the gospel with David's family. They joined the church and never looked back. Eventually he taught seminary and institute and now serves as a temple sealer. https://youtu.be/VM5fQh_IwaM 1 sam 22:6-23 Lots going on in this story- I want to focus on one part of this story- Doeg the edomite Killing the 85 priests. It’s a bloody massacre of a story. Why is it in here? What does it have to do with who we are as Christians in 2019 in Auburn Washington. Why does it matter and what does it mean?Lets establish some things hereDoeg is an edomite, possibly a high official . part of an ethnic tribe that hates Israel. Why was Doeg with Saul? Possibly to convert to Israel, maybe because God wanted him there. Chp 21 makes it clear that he was in charge of Sauls animals. He was a man of influenceThe scripture 22:7-10 makes it clear. Doeg an enemy of Israel, possible convert, high ranking official, zealously executes 85 of God’s priests and an entire city of innocents. Two parts of the plot- Doeg was in chp 21 when David was on the run and in chp 22 when Saul orders the massacre. Doeg agrees- destroys on command. Doeg bridges David sin and Saul SinBut is he the real culprit of this story? David is just trying to save himself- priests go down Saul? He ordered it. Jonathan? If he had given bread to David he wouldn’t have to have eaten the consecrated bread. Is it David? He lied to the priests in 21 and Doeg was there and told Saul. The easy answer is that its Doeg- He killed the priests- he’s the bad guy(Insert sermon about not Killing God’s priests here)For people who want easy formulas to live by (God is good- tragic events are bad) this story creates a dilemmaFirst- not just simply priests. They are descendants of wicked Eil and Phineas. They hold the ephod. They talk directly to God. Doegs massacre is not a random act of evil. It is the fulfillment of 1 Samuel 2:31 Behold, the days are coming that I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father’s house, so that there will not be an old man in your house. READ 1 Sam 2:27-36 This massacre of the priests is the fulfillment of the prophecy from the man of God. This massacre is the means by which God uses to raise up a righteous line of priestsSecondly- Doegs actions are influential to begin the demise of Saul. Saul orders it. Doeg does it. Saul failed as a shepherd, and has now failed in his leadership. Saul goes sideways after thisDoeg makes it happen. He destroys everything. Saul was supposed to destroy the Amelikites and he failed at it- so God pronounced judgement against him earlier- and now he’s doneskiThirdly- Doegs massacre signals the end of Saul. Saul rejected Samuel as priest and placed Ahijah, a descendant of Eli. The priests don’t even support Saul- They protect David- Saul turns from God, His word and has Doeg kill the very priests who could bring him back to God. This massace is a major turn in the story. Saul is completely spiritually and morally bankrupt. Yahweh has removed his protection from Saul and we will see more of his demise in future chpsIts very complex- The Priests are still of God, even tho they are under a curse. They can speak to Saul even tho they are under a curse. Doeg Kills the means of Saul redemption while being the judgement upon the priests. The Edomite- Understand this- the Edomites are from the line of Esau (Gen 36:1) not the chose line of JacobThere is an eternal cosmic conflict between Jacob and Esau and this is part of the conflict of it What do we do with this story? Is God the author of Evil? The Devil? Man? Who is the author There is real evil in the worldThere are enemies of God that are at war with God’s people until the final summation of all thingsRomans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—1 John 5:19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Coffee is HUGE - it's bigger throughout the world than you can really imagine, even given that you can find it on every single corner. All of our individual experiences with coffee is through single cups. Just a bit of beans at a time, consuming a pound or two here and there. In this episode we explore one of the critical roles in getting coffee to you... We visit The Green Room, a massive coffee storage warehouse in Auburn Washington - in this space (which turns out to be half the size of an Ikea, approx), the folks at The Green Room climate control store around 100k bags of green coffee at any given time (translating to some 10-15 million pounds). This is an important waypoint between import of coffee and the roaster, a place for coffee to stay safe, secure, and stable, before it's final destination. On the show we take you on a tour, and try to give you an impression of this important step in the coffee supply chain. My guest today is Andy Blakney, one of the owners of the Quick & Dirty tool company. They specialize in making affordable tongs made here in the US out of Auburn Washington. On October 20, 2015 there was a large warehouse fire that burned in their shop and most of the contents, tools, machinery, stock. Andy tells us where they stand right now in assessing the damage. The very next day after the fire a Facebook page was created to help raise some money to help support the owners of the business and their families. People have been donating tools, knives, blacksmithing classes with all of the money going directly to Andy Blakney and Larry Langdon. What We Talked About Quick and dirty Tool Co started in March of 2014 when Andy started working with Larry on making blacksmith tongs. The business has grown quickly to where Andy was making tongs 60 hours a week. In 2014 he made over 4,000 lbs of tongs. Both Larry and Andy learned a lot of tool making skills from Grant Sarver who owned Off-Center Tools, which eventually was bought by Kayne and Sons. The staple tongs that Quick and dirty Tools make are the v-bit tongs. Typically they buy 60 bars of ½” round 1045 steel stock which yields about 810 lbs of tongs or close to 400 pairs of tongs. When the fire happened in their shop, luckily they had been mostly caught up on their orders. They had the freshest tongs going in the US! Andy is talking to a few blacksmith friends who might be able to continue the process of fulfilling tong orders in the near future. When the fire happened, Andy was just about to start teaching a beginner’s blacksmithing class at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, WA. A half an hour after starting the class his cell phone was ringing off the hook and gathering texts from people asking him if he was OK. Andy immediately called Larry and his wife to make sure everyone was OK and then finished teaching his class. Quick and Dirty Tool Company has hired a professional advocate to help them with the insurance process and estimation of damage costs. The landlord of the building has offered Andy and Larry to move the contents salvaged from the fire to another shop across the street rent free. This is because of the close relationship they have with their landlord over the past 10 years. A day after the fire happened a few blacksmiths created a Facebook page called the Quick & Dirty Fundraiser to help support Larry and Andy by asking people to auction items and have the proceeds go directly to Larry and Andy. There is also a Go Fund Me page for monetary donations. Andy talks about the “magic” punch lube they make and how it’s become known as the best lube for punching. The lube will soon be available for sale on the Quick & Dirty website. A little Northwest rain and mud puddles never stops us from riding our horses. This was Carbon's best test ever! Carbon felt amazing that day. Other than a the circles not perfect, I could not ask for a better ride. I though he would balk at the mud puddle, but he did not miss a beat. Let's use a little logic: 2+2=4, 3+3=5. 100% of us can agree that one answer is correct and the other is not. This mutual agreement is because this statement is quantifiable and it is definitive not subjective. Dressage is "subjective" not "definitive". The USDF has done a great job trying to standardize the meaning of correct training and a correct horse. They have made it more definitive by quantifying it through tests, but it is still subjective. The word "correct" is "not" subjective, it is "definitive". The word "correct" is undeniable not arguable. It is black or white. If you video tape a horse in a test and send it to 5 different USDF judges, you will receive 5 different scores because it is open to argument. A correct horse would receive 100% of 100% judges that judged that particular horse 100% of the time. To my knowledge, this has never happened and probably will never happen, because there is no such thing as a correct horse. If there were a correct horse, we would have an example of how to train a correct horse. So Western Dressage is "not" how "correct" your horse is trained or the movement of, it is the method of how well the "quality" of the training is. You are judged on the degree of "quality" , not "correctness" and judging is a validation of how well you are communicating with a non human being. Here is an example of measurement of degree of "quality" not "correctness". It is probable 100% of the dressage world would agree that this horse and rider are not correct, because they are only 68.3% correct. Face it, the rider has terrible equitation and the horse and rider make mistakes, who cares because it's not about "ego", its about the "partnership" of the team. Right or wrong, it is what it is. On April 14th, 2012 Randy Byers performed a Western Dressage test at Donida Farms in Auburn Washington. He received a 68.3 on USEF Primary Western Dressage test 4
