This week, I'll explore the peculiar true story that inspired William Peter Blatty to write the  book and screenplay for the 1973 hit film "The Exorcist."  This is the story of a boy around 14 years old who experienced something truly bizarre back in 1949. And unlike Regan in the exorcist, whose story is completely fabricated, this one is well documented, with lots of credible witnesses. And while we've known his story for quite some time, we only just learned his identity a few years ago. And he's not at all what you'd expect. Let's fix that. Join us for Part 2  of assassinator John Wilkes Booth in today's episode.  President Abraham Lincoln had been on John Wilkes Booth's mind for months before he shot and murdered him at close range in Ford's Theater on April 14, 1865.  Around the time of Abraham Lincoln's re-election in November 1864, Booth began scheming against the President, whom he loathed for his anti-slavery stance and for waging war against the South. At first, the well-known actor hoped to kidnap Lincoln, bring him to Richmond and exchange him for Confederate prisoners of war.  However, the Fall of Richmond on April 3, 1865 and the surrender of Confederate General Robert E. Lee a few days later prompted him and his co-conspirators to consider even more drastic action….and Lincoln wasn't their only target. Dr. Maté, Daniel's father is a renowned speaker and author who, as his website says: "weaves together scientific research, case histories, and his own insights and experience to present a broad perspective that enlightens and empowers people to promote their own healing and that of those around them."And that is what we hear from Daniel today.  How they work with parents and adult children and sort carefully this "intense, speedy relationship."  "Once you are an adult," he says, your relationship with your parents is a choice...that comes with risks, rewards and pitfalls."  This is not an episode with "answers," this is an episode to truly get you to think and examine so many aspects of yourself, your child-rearing and your adult children.   This episode will help you realize what is possible.Read more about Daniel and his father's book, the New York Times best selling book “The Myth of Normal.”   Link to Daniel's Mental Chiropractic Service and as an award-winning composer, lyricist, and playwright for musical theatre don't miss his podcast  --  Let's Get Lyrical.Blue Grit Podcast: The Voice of Texas Law EnforcementHost: Clint McNear and Tyler Owen discussing topics, issues, and stories within the...Listen on: Apple Podcasts Spotify The information provided by Bite Your Tongue The Podcast (“we,” “us,” or “our”) or biteyourtonguepodcast.com (the “Site” and our mobile application is for general informational purposes only. Sometimes investigators get it really wrong. In 1986, after Michael Morton left his home in the suburbs of Austin, Texas for a regular day at work, his wife, Christine, was brutally murdered while their three-year-old son, Eric, watched. Upon returning home from work, he discovered that he was the prime suspect in her murder, due to a note he had left her that morning…six weeks later he was arrested.  In 1987, he was sentenced to life in prison.  Ken Anderson, the District Attorney, withheld key evidence which was later discovered by the Innocence Project. This evidence ultimately freed Michael Morton in October 2011, after he spent nearly 25 years in prison as an innocent man.  DNA exonerated him and pointed to Christine's real killer!  Could his reputation and relationships be repaired after 25 years?SOURCE MATERIALS:Michael Morton - Innocence ProjectMichael Morton - National Registry of ExonerationsMichael MortonHow Michael Morton's Wrongful Conviction Has Brought Others Justice | The Texas TribuneMan who served 25 years for murder exonerated by DNA - HISTORYEvidence of Innocence: The case of Michael MortonOnly One Prosecutor Has Ever Been Jailed for Misconduct Leading to a Wrongful Conviction33 Startling Wrongful Convictions Statistics [2021 Update]Hosted and edited by Amanda ScottCo-Hosted, produced, researched, co-written and original graphic design by Pamela ScottOriginal music by Waves EntertainmentDisclaimer by Chuck HaungsENMESHED is an OH NO! Episode 56 TMPA Field Services Supervisor and Retired Garland Texas Detective Clint McNear Today's episode is with a third generation Texas Law Enforcement and a true voice and advocate for all police officers across the country. Clint grew up in Plano Texas and was the son of long time Dallas Police Department Homicide Detective Stan McNear. He joined the Marines and became an MP to begin his long career of service. Clint then dove into being a true Texas Peace Officer as he was hired by the Garland Police Department and he hit the ground sprinting working some of the most crime ridden parts of Garland. He climbed to the rank of Detective and worked burglary Division, Child Crimes, and finishes in the Crimes Against Persons Unit as he retired in 2013. Every long police career has a story of heartbreak and Clint was not immune to experiencing life's tragedies as he had to hold his partner as he gave his final breath after a tragic accident. Clint McNear now dedicates his life fighting for officers rights as a TMPA, The Voice of Texas Law Enforcement, representative. The TMPA started in 1950 and is the largest police association in Texas and represents over 30,000 local, state and county law enforcement officers. Clint McNear and Capt. Tyler Owens host the TMPA's new podcast Blue Grit Podcast: The Voice of Texas Law Enforcement as they also give first responders a stage to tell their stories of resiliency and give their listener a peek at the behind the scenes in this great profession Clint's academy classmate and longtime friend Garland PD ICAC Detective Tony Godwin sits in to roast his buddy. Tony is also one half of the hit podcast Catfish Cops.  Detective Godwin is an expert in online child crimes and uses his podcast stage to educate the public and provide awareness to the seedy world of Crimes Against Children. Tony also shows why he is still a loyal friend to McNear and has stood by his friends side for almost 3 decades. This is the first time, and maybe the only time, the ATO: Bridging the Divide crew sits with a guest and guest cohost who also have their own podcasts. Sit back and enjoy the story of Clint McNear. https://TMPA.ORG CatFish Cops
