Jeffrey Deskovic's life changed forever when he was convicted of a murder he did not commit at just 17 years old. He maintained his innocence for the next 16 years and then, with the help of the Innocence Project, the real person responsible was finally caught and Jeff was released from prison. Now you may be asking yourself, 'Hey, how is this a GOOD story?' The answer is found in what Jeff did after this all happened: He went to law school, became an attorney and founded the Deskovic Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the exoneration of the wrongfully convicted, their recovery, and reform of the system. This is one person's journey from the darkest of places to finding and creating his own light and we gotta tell ya, it doesn't get much more inspiring than this. CannCon and Chris Paul tackle a whirlwind of breaking stories, beginning with Congress's sudden panic over AI “deepfake” election interference, a narrative they argue is designed to pre-blame Trump and justify new censorship powers. They pivot to Alabama's border revolt, where the state vows to defend its sovereignty while DHS plays political games with illegal-immigration numbers and asylum fraud. From there, they break down the media's bizarre framing of J6, the federal government's collapsing credibility, and Kamala Harris's strange, overly theatrical public appearances. The hosts also examine Trump's mounting pressure campaigns, the manufactured panic over tariffs, and new polling exposing how thoroughly the public has rejected legacy-media narratives. With sharp analysis, humor, and Chris Paul's signature pattern recognition, this episode cuts through misinformation to explain what's actually happening and why the establishment seems increasingly desperate.

When a baseball fan despised for costing the team the pennant is killed in a bar, Detectives Briscoe and Green connect the crime to Walter Grimes, a man released from prison after 20 years for a murder he didn't commit. Attorney Rodney Fallon (played by Giancarlo Esposito) argues he's innocent because his time as a wrongfully convicted man made him a murderer. McCoy and Southerlyn find the cop who originally framed him. He says the bloody knife he planted was from a different murder committed by Grimes. The prosecutors must rely on planted evidence and the dirty cop to prove the defendant was already a killer before being set up. We're talking about Law & Order season 14 episode 21 “Vendetta.” Our ten-time returning guest is Sarah D. Erik Jensen is a multipyphenate who, along with his wife and creative partner Jessica Blank have been called “the foremost practitioners of documentary theater in the U.S.” Their genre-defining plays “The Exonerated,” “Aftermath,” “Coal Country,” and “The Line” were all critically acclaimed. As an actor, Jensen's credits include “The Walking Dead,” “Mindhunter,” “Mr. Robot,” “The Americans,” not to mention his praised portrayal of legendary NY Yankee Thurman Munson in “The Bronx is Burning.” On this episode he details his approach toward playing that beloved figure, and finding out that “almost the entire body of that character was an emotional word-gesture.” He talks about learning how much psychology is in people's words, his process of having multiple “wants” for a character so he can easily adapt to what he's given, he explains why it's a disservice to write or act for the audience, why he doesn't believe in monologues, how conducting interviews taught him how to listen and become a better actor, plus much more. Back To One is the in-depth, no-nonsense, actors-on-acting podcast from Filmmaker Magazine. In each episode, host Peter Rinaldi invites one working actor to do a deep dive into their unique process, psychology, and approach to the craft. Follow Back To One on Instagram

On April 25, 1989, James Richardson was exonerated after spending 21 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit—the poisoning deaths of his seven children in 1967. A Florida fruit picker, Richardson was wrongfully convicted after flawed police work, suppressed evidence, and false testimony. His neighbor, Bessie Reece, had poisoned the children's lunch, but jurors never learned of her criminal past or her later confession. Special prosecutor Janet Reno reopened the case, uncovering the truth and leading to Richardson's release on May 5, 1989. Though he received a small settlement, he was denied full compensation from the state. Reece was never indicted. James Richardson passed away in 2023, a symbol of justice delayed but not denied. The Delphi 'Missing Evidence' That Could Have Exonerated Richard Allen Could an innocent man be wasting away in prison while the real killer walks free? Richard Allen sits behind bars, sentenced to 130 years, but his confession seems more like the ramblings of a broken man than an admission of guilt. After 14 months in solitary confinement, he emerged a shadow of himself, claiming responsibility for crimes that defy logic—including one against a grandchild that doesn't even exist. So why is the prosecution clinging to this? And why were other key suspects, like Keegan Klein and Ron Logan, seemingly ignored despite damning evidence? Is Lori Vallow-Daybell really convinced she's walking free, or is this just another chapter in her bizarre saga of self-delusion? In a jaw-dropping jailhouse interview with Keith Morrison, Lori doubles down on her innocence, claiming divine visions of her own exoneration—even as she sits convicted and serving a life sentence. From believing her children were zombies to now believing Jesus personally showed her a future without prison bars, Lori's grasp on reality seems... tenuous at best. But could her courtroom antics actually influence a jury? And how will a judge handle her inevitable outbursts when she represents herself? Buckle up—this trial is bound to get weird. Could she actually sabotage her own defense before it even begins? #LoriVallow #TrueCrime #Dateline #KeithMorrison #CourtroomDrama #HiddenKillers #TonyBrueski Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Even after Christopher Dunn won his release from prison in July, Missouri's Attorney General is still trying to put him back. It's just one of the consequences of the unique way Missouri law treats claims of "actual innocence.” We discuss the state of Missouri's innocence laws with Saint Louis University criminologist Kenya Brumfield-Young, as well as attorney Charlie Weiss, who has represented five people who were released from prison after being found innocent. Weiss and Brumfield-Young also share their insights into a proposed bill that would expand the scope of who can make a claim of “actual innocence” under current Missouri law.
