In an instant, the success of the election of the first African American as President of the United States came crashing down with a loud thud, when S.C. Congressman Joe Wilson, yelled out at President Obama during a joint session of Congress, “YOU LIE!” At that moment, the post-racial society that was believed to have existed, died. Missouri University, at the hands of bigoted students, neighbors, and faculty created a racially segregated atmosphere that caused a lone man to stand up and call for equality and justice. In one state alone, two police officers were charged with murder, while another white officer was charged with man-slaughter, and another in Miami, was put on leave while an investigation is being conducted into that case. In California, a Hispanic man was beaten by 7 white police officers after he had surrendered and put his hands behind his back. Are police officers sworn to Protect and to Serve, or to Kill and to Lie? My guest tonight to discuss that issue are: Mayor Chris Brown of Hawthorne, California, South Carolina State Representative J.
