Former Alaska State House Representative Kyle Johansen was first elected to represent his hometown of Ketchikan in 2006. Two years later he became the Majority Leader in the Republican-led House. After being re-elected as Majority Leader in 2010 he left the caucus in protest of a committee leadership decision which he now sees as a huge mistake – a mistake he continues to pay for years afterward, ultimately driving him in 2019 to relocate to Hawaii. In the 34th Legislature which starts this January, he will be returning to Alaska to staff my office in Juneau. Today we learn his story. This week, we have a new Senate Majority Leader and are getting a clearer picture of what the next Congress will look like. But what will it do on gun policy? To answer that question, we have one of the preeminent congressional reporters on the show. Punchbowl co-founder John Bresnahan has been covering Congress for decades now. He knows all of the key players in Congress, including new Majority Leader John Thune. Bresnahan said Thune had the strongest pro-gun record of the three Senators who ran for the majority leader role. He said John Cornyn's role in negotiating the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act hurt him in the race and may even have made the difference since it was a very close vote. He argued the entire Republican Senate leadership is strongly pro-gun now. Still, Bresnahan doesn't necessarily believe there are going to be a lot of opportunities for pro-gun legislation in the next Congress. With a 53-vote majority and the filibuster likely to remain, there probably aren't any significant gun bills that can make it to President Donald Trump's desk. However, there are other ways Congress could have a big impact on gun policy over the next eight years. He said the longest-lasting impact will likely come from judicial appointments, and he noted the GOP will probably control confirmations for all eight years of Trump's term. Special Guest: John Bresnahan.

Contributing writer Jake Fogleman and I cover a significant new ruling out of Illinois, where a federal judge found that the state's ban on so-called assault weapons and large-capacity magazines is unconstitutional. Finally, we mention the Senate Republican caucus' selection of South Dakota's John Thune for Majority Leader and what that says about gun policy.

Mitch McConnell's number two is elected to be the Senate Majority Leader. This ensure not much will change. Liberal plan to boycott Thanksgiving and Christmas with family that voted for Trump. Today on Armed American Radio Daily Defense, Mark talks with David Codrea from Waronguns.com about the state of the nation post-Trump election victory and what it means for our 2nd Amendment gun rights going forward. The discussion centered around the Senate leadership battle brewing in DC now that Republicans have regained control of the US Senate. Who will succeed Mitch McConnell as Majority Leader? The three top contenders so far to date are John Thune, John Cornyn, and Rick Scott. None are top picks for Mark or David, and together we break down the good, the bad, and the ugly of each of the three. The legacy media failures were also discussed in detail and how the breakdown of failed media will impact the Trump administration. Will the media be relevant moving into the future post-election after so many lies and bias were obvious? Will media ever be trusted again on any level by voters? The consensus on AAR is NO.

Congress reconvenes on Tuesday for the first time since before the election, and the big winner, President-elect Donald Trump, is already asserting his dominance. The key players around Trump (but not the man himself ) have come out in full support of Sen. Rick Scott's bid for Majority Leader. But could the move doom Scott's campaign from the start? Playbook co-author Rachael Bade delves into this and other ways the president-elect is already making an impact on Capitol Hill.
On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, nothing has changed in this election race, yet these news programs have election boards and experts telling you what they think will happen. Nobody knows what will happen – it's a close race. Just get out and vote, who cares what the polls say. Later, Kamala Harris gave a speech Tuesday night, and nobody cared except for the media. She spent the entire speech trashing Trump then says we should unite. Her supporters don't like her - they just hate Trump. This speech was a list of lies and she wants your vote. Also, Sen Ted Cruz calls in with an update on his very close race for Senate. Cruz is Sen Chuck Schumer's #1 target. The only way Schumer stays Majority Leader is to take out Cruz, then he can end the filibuster. Afterward, Derrick Anderson calls in to discuss his election run for Virginia's 07th Congressional District. The border crisis is making every state a border state and Virginia is feeling it. Anderson needs all the support he can get because he is moving forward with good policy, unlike the radical left who wants to do the opposite. Finally, Kari Lake calls in about her Senate run in Arizona. Arizonians deserve better and Lake is determined to make that happen, and she encourages everyone to vote early because it is critical to stop the radical left. Learn more about your ad choices. Then, we talk about using the Minnesota blueprint to make change everywhere else. It's election season, but the federal government isn't the only venue for climate action. States also play a huge role in our path to healing the planet. Beyond just cutting pollution within their borders, states implement our big federal climate laws, test new innovative policy ideas, and build momentum for nationwide progress. And the center of gravity for state-level climate action isn't California, or Washington, or Massachusetts. It's Minnesota. Over the past few years, Minnesota has done more on climate than perhaps any other state, anchored by a nation-leading clean electricity standard that requires 100% carbon-free power by 2040. But these wins didn't happen overnight, and they didn't come easy. To tell Minnesota's success story, we spoke to Aimee Witteman, the Vice President of Investment and Network at Rewiring America, Chris Conry, the Managing Director of 100 Percent MN, and Rep. Jamie Long, the Majority Leader of the Minnesota State House of Representatives.
In a closely divided Senate where the Democrats hold the majority by just one seat, the 2024 election poses a possibility for the Republicans to reclaim power in the upper chamber. Republicans are favored in the Senate contests in West Virginia and Montana, while Democrats' Senate candidates lead in Nevada, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Last month, however, Senate Democrats announced they would spend money to help their Senate candidates in Texas and Florida. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) joins the Rundown to explain why his Democratic opponent is too radical for Florida, how he's reaching voters on the IVF issue, and his ambitions for Majority Leader. A crucial swing state in the blue wall looks vulnerable to flip to Republicans in November, with polls for the presidential and senate race in the state appearing to be neck-and-neck. A win in the state of Michigan would give the winner 15 electoral votes, which is why both Vice President Harris and former President Trump are converging on the state this month to shore up support before Election Day. FOX News Radio's Josh Kraushaar joins to explain why the Democratic coalition is not fully on board with VP Harris and key voter demographics former President Trump must reach to win the state.
