Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris TD has launched a €65 million fund to drive solutions to the green transition and to digital transformation. The National Challenge Fund consists of eight challenges, three in digital transformation and five in green transition. The first two challenges are now open for proposals: 2050 Challenge – To develop transformative, forward-looking solutions for Ireland to become climate neutral by 2050; and Future Digital Challenge – To address the challenge from disruptive digital technologies. Announcing the National Challenge Fund, Minister Harris, said: “I am delighted to announce the €65m National Challenge Fund. “These areas are among the greatest challenges our country and our world faces. This fund will help each and everyone us by navigating the best way forward. “When we launched our new strategy Impact 2030, I outlined the need to put research and innovation at the heart of addressing Ireland's social, economic and environmental challenges. The National Challenge Fund is a tangible example of this strategy in action. “I encourage everyone to consider the 18,000 submissions put forward by the public as part of Creating Our Future as we want to respond to issues that matter to people. “Challenge teams will be interdisciplinary with scientists, engineers and researchers working together with government bodies to develop solutions to problems of national importance, partnering with stakeholders to develop, test and trial solutions.” The National Challenge Fund is an initiative under the Government's National Recovery and Resilience Plan, funded by the EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility and managed by Science Foundation Ireland. Commenting on the new National Challenge Fund, Ciarán Seoighe, Deputy Director General, Science Foundation Ireland, said: “We are delighted to have this new funding made available under the EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility. We look forward to working in partnership with government departments and agencies to define the challenges and help to build partnership with the wider research community to develop research solutions to these challenges.” “This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for research teams to work in partnership with stakeholders to provide solutions to tangible problems that will benefit our society and economy.” Teams will be provided with additional opportunities to grow and scale their activities with opportunities for follow on funding in future phases, ranging from €500k to €2 million for the most competitive teams. Each challenge incorporates four stages. The model of the competition means that researchers will receive increasing funding at each stage of the process. Research teams and ideas will be evaluated by an independent, international panel of experts. Awards for each phase will be made from 2022 to 2026. See more stories here. I have been away over the past few weeks, not on a holiday but a 'work-away' as I finalise the 2nd edition of the Endometriosis Naturally Cookbook (which ended up being a completely brand new book! And with recipes from 101 to 131 - you can tell that I got somewhat excited!), and also here to record the audiobook version of the 2nd edition book "How I Ended My Endometriosis Naturally".  Creating anything, especially a book or a cookbook, requires much love, dedication and commitment, which is hard to do in my apartment in the centre of Edinburgh, entry phone system buzzing with deliveries and my enigmatic, somewhat energetic, 12 months old chocolate Labrador called Poppy and my 2 frisky cats. The interruptions become plentiful and my patience is tested to its limits.  Then my perfectionist and pusher parts start to become more frustrated as time zooms past and there is little to show for my interrupted efforts! So a 'work-away' was planned and it has been glorious. The sun-worshipping part of me was a little gloomy as the sun in Spain was not burning through the clouds as much as I would like (for my book writing breaks) but to have the uninterrupted peace and flow in preparing and writing was delightful. I admit to liking to track my progress in any endeavour I put my attention to whether it is healing endometriosis or writing a book so as to be able to get a good run and be able to finally send off the contents and photographs to the editors and designers felt euphoric. I am super excited for you all to receive this 2nd edition cookbook when it is published next month, just in time for Endometriosis awareness month. We have had recipe contributions from some EndoBoss® Alumni, EndoBoss® Beginners, and even my adult son, Sebastian. I wanted this book to be a book that can help guide you to eat in a new way whilst also answering some important questions that come up for women with endometriosis. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misleading and misinformation about what to eat and what not to eat for women and I wanted to share what worked for me and still continues to work 6 years later. SO I hope you will enjoy experimenting with the 131 recipes when it comes out but I will keep you posted here when it is officially released. But I do want to share that having this time away to get into the flow and have time to contemplate, I felt inspired to share about a very special Valentine's or rather Galentine's Gift I have for you. You see Valentine's Day can be a mixed bag of liquorice allsorts for many women. The marketing departments across the globe put intense pressure upon the men to bestow gifts and flowers to their wives, partners and girlfriends. This is fine but I know of many women who are single and find this time of the year somewhat depressing if they find themselves single; happily or not. So I want to offer you a different show of LOVE this Valentine's Day. It is called a Galentine's Gift from the EndoBoss® Team. You see, far too many women are suffering awful period pains and endometriosis symptoms, month in and month out. So I want to incentivise women to come together in a healthy, self-care capacity to learn what true self-care is without the shame or guilt, normally associated with women when they spend any time on themselves. The 21 Day Unstoppable EndoBoss® Challenge has brought so many women (over 108) great joy, peace and relief from anxiety, as well as some physical improvements too, in a matter of a few weeks of learning how to increase their awareness and self-care routines. And I want to make this as affordable as possible, so there are ZERO excuses for giving yourself some REAL, LASTING LOVE this Valentine's Day. So, on this coming Monday 14th February 2022, for one day only, I will be reducing the cost of the 21 Day Unstoppable EndoBoss Challenge by over 50% from £197 to only £97! You will learn how to: Pay attention to your feelings in a new way Learn the messages that your emotions are trying to tell you Identify the 10 types of tiredness (& how to eliminate them) Understand what noticing anxiety in your body really means How to get connected to your own inner guidance system How to be aware of toxic people And start to get a deeper insight into what is going on inside your body and why And it even comes with a money-back guarantee so you can try it and if it's not for you then I will refund you. You see this Galentine's Gift is a gift that keeps on giving long after Valentine's Day has come and gone, and has the gift of giving long after the 21 Days Challenge is completed. I know this for a fact because the 21 Day Challenge was where the majority of my EndoBoss® Alumni and EndoBoss® Coaches have come from - and I would love you to follow them. But, first things first! I just want you to get a sniff, a whiff, an inkling of what is possible in 21 Days when you are immersed in a safe, nurturing, positive and empowering environment for women. The information and education you receive from me, each day in my pre-recorded educational webinars, help to uncover and unravel some of the mysteries of the emotional elements of endometriosis. - and most importantly give some practical support. What I call learning the Tools of Titans and Habits of Heroines! Well, really EndoBosses but that previous phrase has a nice ring to it. So this is an advanced warning to mark your calendar and make sure to check your emails on Monday 14th February (or your spam box).  If you haven't already registered with me for updates then you can go to https://HealEndometriosisNaturally.com and download your FREE Top 5 Quick-start Tips and my Team will email out to you to remind you of this special offer that is only available for 24 HOURS. This will be my Galentine's Gift for you, which I promise will have a much nicer aftertaste and impact than any chocolate could have! So make sure to take this leap into the EndoBoss® Pathway in a super safe and nurturing environment. I look forward to meeting you in the 21 Day Challenge on Monday 14th February 2022. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)Though the Bible mentions mercy hundreds of times, and clearly is is one of the attributes of God, but today, I rarely hear the word mentioned.  Could it be that we don't understand mercy?Definition: The Greek word for mercy, ‘eleos' means ‘compassion, pity, clemency'. God is merciful in that He withholds the punishment we deserve and shows compassion and pity toward us. Mercy is the withholding of a just condemnation. The real meaning of mercy is that God looks at our failure and still see a future. All through the Bible we read of the mercy of God. It is mentioned hundreds of times.  The writer of Hebrews tells us to “come boldly to the throne of graces to find mercy in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15-16).  God feels compassion towards us. You could say his mercy motivated his grace. God saw us in our great need. He had compassion on us. God does not stop with feelings of pity and compassion.  He is motivated to act, to relieve our misery. This is where God introduces grace.Grace gives me what I don't deserve (forgiveness)Mercy holds back what I do deserve (judgement)Apart from Jesus we are all sinners. Without Jesus, we are lost in our sins. Apart from Jesus we have no hope. Without Jesus we will all face judgement. But The mercy of God provided a way for our sins to be forgiven.“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” (Titus 3:5)As followers of Jesus, we are to display the character qualities of God in our own lives. Since God has shown us mercy, we are to be merciful to others. This is why in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful.”Today's Challenge: To whom is God asking you to show mercy? We as believers have received an huge measure of God's mercy. We have been forgiven a debt of sin we could never repay and have been blessed with daily mercies we could never count.  Now God wants us to show the same kind of mercy to others, to have the same compassion, to demonstrate the same love, and to act and serve others in their time of distress…even when they do not deserve it.“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)Discussion Questions:How would you define the mercy of God?It seems like God's mercy is not talked or sang about, as much as His grace. Why do you think this is so?What are some practical ways we can show mercy to others?Recommended Resource: The Prodigal Prophet: Jonah and the Mystery of God's Mercy by Timothy KellerVisit the website: 5MinuteDiscipleship.comFollow on social:Facebook.com/5minutediscipleshipInstagram.com/5minutediscipleshipClick here to learn how you can start your own podcast.

What happens next. You are never too old or too lost, or too happy to reinvent yourself and seek a new opportunity. You’ve heard it before, Life is Too Short. We need to be reminded that life’s too short to spend every day doing work you hate. Life’s too short to hold grudges against people we love. Life’s too short not to see the wonders of the world. Life’s too short to not live life to the fullest. Are you ready for something new? A new job, hobby, experience, journey, friend, spiritual awakening….or more? Maybe you feel stuck. Or bored. Or frustrated. It’s not that you don’t like the life you live, it’s just that you suspect there’s something more. Some greater sense of meaning or excitement. New connections. New adventures. New possibilities. Where do you start? Challenge your ideas about how things should work. Sometimes when you decide how things should be you limit your ability to be effective in the world as it actually is. I’m too old to start something new, I don’t have the time or the finances. I better stay right where I am! Open your mind and think of possibilities without limitations. What would you like to do? Where would you like to go? Who would you like to see? Brainstorm ideas. Feverishly write down everything in your head and then some. Don’t talk yourself out of putting them down, just write. Get them out where you can see them. Maybe they cause you to laugh...that’s good. Like me wanting to be a barrel racer but being afraid of horses. What jumps out at you saying “pick me first!”? Circle that one and then make some room. Now you will write all the steps it might take to make that happen. Don’t worry about getting them in chronological order right now. It’s just important to see them so that you understand there is a process. We can’t snap our fingers or wiggle our noses (older reference) and make something appear. But we can take a step in the right direction and seek a new opportunity. 1 year - 365 opportunities. But be careful. Days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months and before you know it another year has passed you by and you are still in the same spot. Or not. Carpe Diem - Seize the day. CHALLENGE: To seek something new - the sky is the limit so dream big. Make a plan and even if it takes you all year to get there, you are moving toward what you want. Baby steps become bigger steps as you see the horizon of a new opportunity.   I know YOU can do it!

The brainstorming phase of the plan was set in motion as all sectors and potential organizations were considered. Challenge: To achieve a number of job offers over a 4 month period within a very challenging job market. Matthew knew that to achieve this stretch goal he would have to take an innovative approach to job opportunity creation. He also realized that his interview preparation and execution would have to stand out positively compared to other candidates. Strategy: Over the next few weeks the plan evolved and he started to add filters that would refine the job search. Matthew looked at which sectors and companies would present the greatest opportunity for him. He not only considered the role, salary and location, but striking a work life balance. He came to a significant discovery; he felt he would thrive in a medium sized organization within a high growth sector. The tactics: He documented his plan and set himself targets. How many calls per week? How many face to face meetings? At the same time he still had a day job and he needed to create 10 extra hours a week. To achieve this he got up earlier and began working his plan. When he got home in evenings he continued to work on his project. His mindset was positive as he had a clear goal with a deadline. He had a calm, considered confidence and certainty that he could achieve his goal. At the beginning and end of the day he started to explore opportunities, updated his Linkedin profile, and produced a compelling and achievement led CV. Have you ever heard “Perception is Reality?” What do you think that means? Is it one of those things your parents say to scare you like: if you keep frowning your face will get stuck like that or if you drink that, it will put hair on your chest. I guess that one’s not scary for everyone. See, what people perceive is usually what they believe, and this is based on what they hear, see and think. It works both ways. Your perception is your reality and the way you present yourself, say and do, becomes someone else’s reality. How do you want to be perceived? Maybe you’ve heard this one: “Dress for the job you want not the one you have”. What do you suppose that means? You are creating a perception of a more successful and talented person because you want someone to have a different opinion of you. This can be more than just putting your best foot forward,  sometimes, this desire to be perceived differently can go too far. To their own detriment, people are buying bigger houses, faster cars, plastic surgery, and expensive wardrobes. It easy to see the kind of reality they are trying to personify. Has your own perception been distorted? See if this sounds familiar. You have an idea in your mind, something you believe to be true. You then give more focus to evidence that helps support your idea vs contrary evidence. A great example of this is in politics. Do you believe in every case presented or are you just sticking to your alignment? How about the way you perceive a type of person or group of people? People tend to believe that when people are similar in one way, they are likely to be similar in other ways and this is often not the case. Let’s say you have a negative experience with a certain type of person, gender, race, or status. Do you react with a preconceived bias when you are faced with a similar situation? Our expectations and perceptions of optimism can be altered with a single word like "yes." On the flip-side, we all know the power of “no” to instantly take the wind out of your sails and make you feel negative. The declarative word “yes” is like an implicit green light that implies "go." On the other hand, “no” is an implicit red light that implies "stop." One of the choices you have when faced with a problem is to change your perception of the problem. People sometimes resist altering their perceptions, believing they are right in what they see, hear, and remember. The truth is that your perceptions are often inaccurate, particularly in emotionally charged situations. CHALLENGE: To challenge your perception, be open to differing opinions and ideas. Ask yourself “is this what I think, or is this what I know to be true”. Be aware of how the presentation of yourself, your ideas, and your wants could also be skewed. Be bold and clear to personify your desires. I know YOU can do it! Musical Feature: Curtis Battrell found on iTunes and SoundCloud

0 minutes – 15 minutes: some updates about the podcast website and social media stuff. 15m – 44m: Coffee talk. 44m – 50m: Halloween, shitty costumes, and abusing Apple’s generous refund policy. 50m – 58m: Apple is starting to over-promise and under-deliver. 58m – End: Rob introduces a podcast challenge, you know, for “content.” More details and links: We’ve got our website up and running! The HOPEFULLY easy-to-remember domain is joshandrob.com. We also set up a bunch of social channels like a public group on Telegram, and a Twitter handle: @sorrytopic. Check out another “hangout” podcast: Getting Caught Up with a couple of more interesting people, Mike and Jeff. The Beers: Josh: mysterious beer sitting in the fridge for months Rob: 21st Amendment IPA The Coffee: Rob has been getting really into coffee lately. He refers to The Coffee Podcast and about finding some online guides for making snobby coffee at home. Intelligentsia has a lot. Josh on the other hand appreciates fancy coffee but is very lazy about it at home. He’s been using a Keureg some days, and other times he gets hours-old leftovers from his Airpot. One of those pump action things you’ll see at conferences and big meetings. The Challenge: To spice things up, Rob suggests a simple challenge to try something new for a week or two. We’ll report back with the results! Challenge for Josh: wake up and make fresh coffee one morning this week. Here’s the French press guide. He also needs to write a bio for the website.
